@CoolBeans Out of curiosity, could you tell me, based off from what you have seen, what do you consider clutter? I'm actually looking for user comfort and accesibility and even simple opinions work right now.

This screenshot is a PERFECT example of what I'm trying to say, if this is what I'm seeing throughout the whole game EVERY TIME I go into a battle.... then it's too much. BUT actually I browsed through some of your screenshots and it's not too bad, but specifically some of the first videos you released were VERY CRAZY, like... I could barely figure out what was going on.....
I mean just look at your first video you posted on this thread, If you were me... had no idea what this game was about, and all you saw was just a bunch of flashing lights and swords... you would be kinda turned off wouldn't you? When I watch a trailer for a game, and all I see is THAT, then, even if I'm not really thinking about it, it's going to turn me away because a fighting system is a BIG part of the game for me.
Now I'm not necessarily saying YOUR fighting system is like that, but I'm just saying I would shy
away from being "too detailed".... if that makes any sense..... -
@CoolBeans oh, i see. That flash was literally an error lol. I'll delete it, i left it since it doesn't bug me that much.
- The prompt up on the left is because it's a tutorial battle, so it will only show if you acquire an ability that needs to be taught (Like... well, the Overflux).
- Red numbers are damage.
- White are the Shields (Only present if an enemy has shields).
- Combo Counters only appear if an enemy manages to actually combo you and quickly disappear
- So does your own combo counter.
- Healthbars that big are only for bosses. Smaller health bars are only for enemies and they don't cover the screen that much.
Still, i'll see what i can do to reduce the screen clutter even more.
Ah, yeah, the announcement trailer. That was when i had only entered into the ATM-LMBS phase and i hadn't yet reduced the effects and the like. Seems like i need to do one more trailer. -
Wow @Erif, so happy to hear that the demo is near. I know you’ve been working hard on it!Greetings everyone!I have mostly good news! The new demo is set to release very soon, almost near!
The gooder news is that there are no longer three demos (A, B & M for Advanced, Basic and Multiplayer), since they've been merged!
I'm just dealing with some little, silly bugs, such as battlebacks shrinking when a second player joins the battle.
View attachment 307829
Some other bugs, such as the battle menu not working at all (Currently only player 1 can open it) or when escaping a battle was impossible, or after that it became so possible that the escape progress bar didn't reset when you weren't dashing towards the screen edge have been fixed.
Now it's just a matter of gamepad input reworking (Doing rn) and tracking quest progress. This includes, but not limited to
- Adding the Command Button to all gamepads (Required for Active Elents)
- Changing Solo Character Swap
As of this moment the 4 Player Limit is working and all Player Slots work (With the exception of opening the menu for players 2,3 & 4)
Note that any controller works, provided they have 2 sticks, 4 normal buttons, 2 triggers and 2 shoulder buttons... Well, mostly any controller. Even simulated ones work.
Can’t wait! -
@really Thank you! I'm doing some finishing touches, right now some art is missing, like the Cameo Characters battle faces, so there's that. However, I'm rushing to get it done so everyone can play!
-
Question... when you say "multiplayer" @Erif... do you mean like online, or if to people are on the same internet network......
(BTW, if you set up an online game without a plugin, I will be very impressed.) -
There's not really a practical difference between those things - once you've gotten into the realm of networking, dealing with a local address works the same way as a remote one, generally speaking.Question... when you say "multiplayer" @Erif... do you mean like online, or if to people are on the same internet network......
It's more likely that it's multiplayer by plugging multiple gamepads into one computer. But I'll let Erif clarify for his own game. -
@CoolBeans Like Turan says, it's in the realm of Local Co-Op. Up to four players on the same computer, each one with their gamepad. However, i've managed to accomplish a rather crude approach to Online Multiplayer thanks to Parsec!
@ATT_Turan
Pretty much what you said, thanks for the explanation! -
Road to Demo:Memes aside, I'm nearing completion of the demo! I'm still doing a few tasks, one of them being putting chests with valuable loot in them for you to encounter while you explore!
(End of The Vrila'an Legend Canon-accurate Joseph chilling with his stats)
(End of The Vrila'an Legend, Canon-Accurate Perla casually capable of withstanding a meteor to the face)
(End of The Vrila'an Legend, Canon-Accurate Cielo capable of rewriting reality and resisting the change of the laws of the universe)
Rare Accesories are a special type of equipment that has random values. Can remove boosts or massively increase a stat. In that regard, they're special because they have an Extra Boost! You can gain the upper hand by looking for these precious pieces of equipment!
LOOK FOR ANY BLUE CHESTS IN THE MAPS!
Of these accesories, none will be similar in next playthroughs! -
Lol! Ugh, why didn't ff7 think of that.capable of withstanding a meteor to the face
Congrats on getting one step closer in your game making journey, Erif! -
Thank you!
Starting from today, where there's only small tasks left, and polishing, i'm gonna share a few things with everyone to make things easier and interesting, all in the format of Did You know? (Thanks for the buffer, Testosterone!)
DID YOU KNOW?Prim can learn up to 8 extra elents by using Elemental Augments on Her? Yup. Although she's mostly a physical melee damage dealer, she can spice up her combos as long as she's wearing any Elemental Pendant
Wind: Double Energy Wave
Earth: Grave Blade
Water: Shell Crusher
Fire: Cerberus Twinblade
Lightning: Lightning Hunter (Yes, the same as Mike)
Ice: Ice Cross
Light: Aura Charge (Yes, a Support Elent)
Dark: Demonic Spear (Yes, the same as Shadow) -
DID YOU KNOW?Apart from being able to raze the battleground withe Ice / Light Ether Elents, Cielo does have an array of Base Elents? Yes! She can also perform melee combos, although in this regard, her damage output decreases massively.
Currently, I'm just checking the game flow, progression, and all of those things. Tomorrow I might do asset checks and Sunday will (might) mark the release of the new merged demo!
This is Silios Volcano, one of the many places available to explore in the game! -
HEY EVERYONE!
There's a lot to unpack, but the new demo is out! Only in itch.io and Drive for now, since my internet really hates me.

You can play with up to 3 friends for a total of 4 players! Just connect your controllers and ready to go! Make sure to follow the tutorial on itch.io
The order is as follows:
-
Gave the demo a shot, and I gotta say it amazes me what people can do with RPG Maker lol the combat was really fun! I like the send ups to the Tales Of series, and the character writing was very entertaining in my opinion.
I will say though, as someone who plays a lot of action games having the basic attack button be on Left Trigger and the dash / dodge move be on X / Square seemed backwards to me. It's definitely a personal preference, but I think it would feel a lot more natural if the basic attack was on a face button instead.
I also found some of the hit boxes on projectiles to be a tad large. The slime projectile for instance felt like I had to be at the apex of a jump in order to leap over it even though visually it was nowhere near hitting my character. This may be a quirk of the LMBS plugins you use, but I thought I should mention it from a player's perspective.
All in all I had a great time! Keep up the good work :D -
@StandardEnemy Thank you! Well, i wasn't sure since i planned to have the ability to remap keys, but since multiplayer breaks those I skipped on them.
OOPs, my bad, You can guard it or dodge it, By pressing R-Stick + left or right. One fix to go! -
Awesome!!! Downloading now!
-
Ok guys, big bug time!
Seems like the second cameo battle doesn't activate even if you defeat the first, and the first one sort of softlocks the game, so i'm deploying a small bugfix. Don't worry, you don't actually need to re-download the entire game, i'm not that much of an evil guy haha.
I'm also changing the recruit location of the cameo characters. They will be at Mennianza so you can look for them. Take into account that you will need to defeat them first. The order is:
Cameo (RPG Maker Forums) > Cameo Set 1 > Cameo Set 2. You know who the cameo sets are haha
As another bonus due to the errors, i've added some chests at Eidolon Mines, Underwater Temple, and Silios Volcano that contain Rare Accessories, do your best to find them! I'll do another post once the bugfix has been deployed! -
Hey Everyone! Bit of a screw up but meh hahaha.
All Links to the demo are UP!
Changelog
- Battles
- Reduced Slime Shot hitbox. The hitbox was larger that the sprite itself
- Events
- Fixed Tournament 2 Battle. Winning makes it softlock. To prevent this, the game will throw you to the world map to cleanse the possible softlock. You'll receive the prizes before being sent to the world map. This will happen whether you win or lose.
- Fixed Cameo 3 Recruitment event. Now it appears correctly
- Other
- Fixed Full Control Scheme not appearing.
- Fixed Wrong Gamepad Layout being show on full control scheme. Since the addition of the Command Button, I forgot to correct this.
- Fixed Aerial Prowess [Wendy] (I,II,III) dropping down values to 10, 20 & 30% of damage instead of 110%, 120% & 130%
- Fixed Red Filter bleeding into battles.
- Fixed Alex not being able to AI-COMBO Burst into Lethal Rain
- Added [Male] Rare Accessories.
All the other links besides Itch.io already contain the fixes, and i've added the MEGA link too! Please don't forget to send any feedback you might want to leave or any bugs you notice, thank you! - Battles
-
After a few days of innactivity, I'm back, and working on some QoL changes! Now controller mode is displayed in the menu, gone are the days where you had to rely on entering a battle or using a website to check if controllers are working and connected!
If controllers 2,3 & 4 are connected, the controller mode is changed everytime you open the menu. For example, if you're playing alone, the other three characters will display AUTO as their default controller mode.
If you're playing with friends, and everyone connects their controller, the display should change to MANUAL.
Biggest changes are to Multiplayer mode.
- Now Passive Elents work too.
- Now Active Elents work too.
- Most battlebacks are fixed (MOST)
- Fixed a counting bug that prevented the second World Rift area (where Nick and Klein are located) from appearing.
- Fixed second Cameo Set having free Elents (no cost)
- Fixed Wendy's second Limit Elent not working as intended.
-
I don't know if this can be considered a double post (again) but there's a lot i've managed to accomplish:
Here's some in-game footage of some Multiplayer Improvements!
- Better Camera: It now follows the players that are active! AI Allies are ignored.
- Enhanced Gamepad Detection: Any gamepad connected will stay locked, so Player 3 Will be always Player 3 even if other players disconnect their controllers. Previously, player assignation was bugged so you had to have all 4 actors for 3 players, this is no longer happening after this fix.
- Better Player Indicators: All players have their own indicators. If the option Enable Player Cursors is active, only the connected players will have their cursors displayed.
- Menu Controller Mode Indicator: Players 2 to 4 will have their controller mode indicated in their Actor Status (Manual when a controller is connected, Auto when the opposite). Disconnecting a controller will change its mode to AUTO upon menu update (closing and opneing)
