  1. Non-sequential update.

    General
Right now i'm just finishing some touches to the Collab Limit Elents, since i want them to be flashy. Probably Perla and Mike's reworks will have to wait a bit, since i focused on expanding a bit more the playable story, and fleshing out characters with skits and subquests.

Gamepads will be updated with some specific input overhauls.
    • The Command Button (Needed for Emergent Elents and Blink Chase) will be added
    • Swap Battler and Swap Target will be reduced to one button each with left or right detection

    Story
Expanding on what's available, two new areas are open, apart from level 1 of the World Rift, and the Northeast Barracks: The World Rift (level 2) and the Monus Cliffs (These have a very important story battle), but since i suck at mapping, i'm currently a bit stuck there. Map073.png
    (VERY WIP)
    Characters
    • Some playable characters will be receiving some upgrades. Perla, in particular, will be receiving a bit more of aerial game, since her character is a heavy defender, but she's defenseless in the air.
    • Mike is the other one who will be receiving an overhaul in his elents, since they're currently very buggy.
    • All collab characters are currently in standby for their Level 2 Limit Elents.
    • Caster-Melee hybrids will be able to equip casting-time reducing accesories.

    Mechanics
    • As expressed in earlier posts, Emergent Elents have been added: Abilities which effects are activated by holding down the command button, currently only Active Heal is present, which is an Emergent Elent for Titania (Which is not playable yet)
    QoL
    • Many fixes which i will not paste here because it's a massive list.
  2. Training Battles
Training Battles are a new mechanic introduced in the Collaboration Update.
Basically, you can fight against your party members to practice moves, combos, stun times, or any fancy thing.
Currently only the cameo members are available for Training Battles.

    Available Members
    PRE_Battle_AllanniaSolo.pngPRE_Battle_AmatosSolo.pngPRE_Battle_FiaSolo.pngPRE_Battle_FidelSolo.pngPRE_Battle_KleinSolo.pngPRE_Battle_NickSolo.pngPRE_Battle_PrimSolo.pngPRE_Battle_ScarletSolo.pngPRE_Battle_TakeruSolo.pngPRE_Battle_TiqeeSolo.png
To battle against them (again) you must have defeated them in their corresponding cameo battle, and have them in your party. The battles are done in a 1v1 Format.

And of course, each character has their own battle theme.
  3. Kollel Woodlands: A small maze where many mystical ingredients for various medicines grow, and is said to appear once in a while. Also home to a lost civilization a long time ago.

The exploration of this map (albeit small but I'm proud of it, and possible thanks to Pandamaru and Sturmfels tiles) marks the end of the First Arc of the game.

I'm not gonna say against WHO but there's a very dangerous story fight waiting for you here. But if you survived the World Rift then Kollel Woodlands will be nothing for you.

Although,I REALLY Suggest you play with all characters, something may happen that might force you to check out other fighters.
    Kollel Woodlands.png
The game is divided in two Arcs, that I really hope are engaging enough for you to keep playing :), currently, I'm trying to flesh out the playable characters up to this point (since you'll get all 13 before the second Arc). What are your thoughts from this map?

There are so many things I want to show but I'm still working on them, remaking some maps, and checking out for many bugs and whatnot.
  4. Seihan Grotto

A zone formed after a grand battle before the events of The Vrila'an Legend, this Grotto is said to be the growth place of the legendary Luscent Root, a plant with the reputation of being used in medicines to bring back the dead. Although, the Grotto is now infested with many beings that went crazy when HE unleashed his power, and they now seek to feed on Ether.

  5. Hello Everyone!

I'm currently setting up the last batch of Passive Elents:

    Attack
    • x3 Increase Attack (Gives a permanent +20 Attack upon purchasing. Doesn't need to be equipped) [There's three of these]
    Defense
    • Last Stand (Gives the chance to survive a blow if its power is more than the user's 50% Max HP)
    Support
    • Limit Plus IV (Gives a whopping 12 EC )
    Personal
    • Joseph
      • Ether Burst (Increases Damage by 50% on each hit if the [Command Button] is pressed sacrificing EP)
    • Perla
      • Share Shield: (Grant a set amount of Shield Points to all allies while depleting EP if the [Command Button] is pressed. The amount of Shield Points received can be increased with the Guard Rate)
    • Wendy
      • Down Air Dash (Changes the Air Dash direction downwards, you need to press downwards before executing an Air Dash to use the effect)
      • Air Prowess (Increases Aerial Damage by 10% for each level)
Many of these are still in testing. I've yet to add some for each playable character in order to give them more individuality. In each character's personal tab, there is going to be at least 3 Element-related Passive Elents, 3 New Base Elents, 3 new Union Elents, 3 Combo Plus and at least 2 Emergent Elents.

I plan to reveal these as i go~
  6. Greetings, humans. I am Kamil Zepphri, True Ruler of Thessea, and soon enough, your Ruler.

Although this seems unusual to me, it seems appropriate to inform you of the steps I have planned to conquer your world, after all, no one can oppose me. For that purpose, I have taken over Erif's account, just to show how weak he is, muahahahaha.

I have deployed two Titanbeasts to make sure those pathetic humans serve their purpose as energy sources, for my plan.
    imagen_2024-04-01_093202129.png

    Captura de pantalla (340).png

I have an army awaiting to be released, simply pledge your servitude to me, and you will be spared from my wrath. I do await your response: Surrender and serve, or rebel and perish.
  7. Hahahaha nooooo! Erif!!!

Okay I guess I will surrender and serve.
  8. OOOF! Sorry guys, we just managed to push back Kamil for today!

@really I'm okay tho, this son of a gun just managed to take my account but a few Pentaslashes did the trick haha!
  9. Guest Heroes: Tips, Tricks, and Insight!
    CameoHeroes.png

    Fia
    A14_MUG.png
    Fia
Coming from the world of Xelia Chronicle: The Last Order, Fia is a powerful dark-elemental caster/close quarter hybrid. In Shadows of the Earth, this translates into long stuns with spells and the possiblity to get closer to execute a melee combo without any worry. However, Fia lacks in the defense department and unless you're so good at dodging you might as well see the future, playing with her might cause you to use a few Ether apples in fights where enemies are diverse. Characters who can protect allies via knockback to enemies, Shields, or continuous Healing are a great partner for her!
Recommended Characters to pair (In order of... viability?)
    • Perla (Via Tempest Wall, Stream Wall, Fortify or equipping her with Share Shield)
    • Solat (Via Lighting Wall, Lightning Hunter)
    • Takeru (Via Wall of Cards, Laplace Mine or using Seal: X)

    Prim
    A15_MUG.png
    Prim
Our favorite Elf girl from Wind Ryder, Prim can quickly dish damage at close quarters, and since she is not dependant on any Element she is a well rounded (Notice the joke) character perfect for any situation.
Except when the enemy has a lot of casters with rapid spell chanting. Some enemies can speed up the spell casting thanks to their allies buff. This turns into a problem for Prim since her Elent Defense is too low and her range is the same. Characters who can help her at distance against casters are the best choice!
Recommended Characters to pair (In order of... viability?)
    • Alex (All of his Elents are ranged)
    • Fidel (Her support can increase Attack, regenerate HP and EP, and this can increase Prim's lifespan greatly specifically in these situations)
    • Cielo (Ironically, the best at Healing and Attacking at range is the last option since she requires at least Speed Cast II to be able to provide cover for Prim)

    Tiqee
    A16_MUG.png
    Tiqee
After escaping from a Dungeon, this lovely goblin unleashed her creativity to be able to fight, and what a punch she packs! With the ability to stun, and seal Union, Altered and Ether Elents at will she can quickly become a perfect support for fast damage dealers.
Provided she also has a support. While having a support kit, Tiqee is quickly overwhelmed against stalling enemies, since she can't deal massive damage or resist it. Any character that can keep foes away from her in these cases until she is able to unleash her Limit Elent are a boon!
Recommended Characters to pair (In order of... viability?)
    • Mike (Mike is a powerhouse and when paired with Tiqee they both will destroy the battlefield)
    • Shadow (Shadow can quickly dish damage and reposition himself near Tiqee to protect her)
    • Ryan (Being fast on reflexes and with the ability to refill his FLUX bar quickly, he's a great choice, if there's a defense character present too, since he's a glass cannon)

    Fidel
    A17_MUG.png
    Fidel
Don't be fooled by her innocent appearance. Having fallen into a trap by "The Maker", she made her way to Thessea to perhaps gain some help, or better herself to face her foe.
Her Confidence has given her access to a very powerful, albeit limited, set of Ether Elents that vary from element. She can cancel her Ether Elents into Union Elents when near an enemy! Using the Ego Artifex Peritus enchantment she can summon statues that grant a myriad of effects. These statues can be Altered by the Alter Elent skill to invert their effect! HP turns into EP, Attack turns into Defense and Focus turns into Critical Chance! An awesome support for the price of having to dodge massively in boss fights and having two defensive characters to protect her so she can use her talents.
Recommended Characters to pair (In order of... viability?)
    • Perla (Via Tempest Wall, Stream Wall, Fortify or equipping her with Share Shield)
    • Amatos (He's more efficient in boss fights due to his deal damage/steal life attacks)
    • Takeru (Via Wall of Cards, Laplace Mine or using Seal: X)

    Takeru
    A18_MUG.png
    Takeru
A guy who was "isekai'd" (his terms, wonder what that is) that can use traps, and seal elents. Is he awesome? Yes, he is, provided you can offset is non-existant melee prowess. While he can deal on his own with some enemies, if they guard he loses his powerful advantage. However, when paired with any caster, he excels at protecting them since he has a high Elent Defense.
Recommended Characters to pair (In order of... viability?)
    • Cielo (Our resident Spellcaster, she can go wild if he's present in the battlefield keeping enemies in check)
    • Titania (Can hit and provide support to him, a perfectly symbiotic relationship)
    • Allannia (Allannia can deal with mostly anything that doesn't get close, they both lack any close quarter Elents)

    Amatos
    A19_MUG.png
    Amatos
Coming from the world of Spirit Stone: Revelations, Amatos is a powerful character to have due to his kit being a weird mix of Melee and Healing. In boss fights, he's self suficient to kick their ass and still be able to provide support to his allies.
BUUUUT, in group fights, Amatos performance falls greatly due to the following factors: He can't deal with being damaged and heal at the same time, since his spells and moves that heal leave him open. Defensive characters can't help much but any Stun-related character will give him some room to breathe.
Recommended Characters to pair (In order of... viability?)
    • Stella (All of her moves push the enemy back or stun them)
    • Mike (Via Lightning Hunter, and paralysis)
    • Joseph (Our allrounder, can keep enemies at bay for a while due to his massive HP pool, however, he cannot stall for long without any support)

    Allannia
    A20_MUG.png
    Allannia
From the same world as Tiqee, Allannia can quickly overwhelm opponents even if they have a high Elent Defense thanks to her ability to extend her Elents for increased damage. The only drawback is that she will deplete her EP bar almost instantly, and she lacks any base elents besides her normal attack to defend herself. Any character that can finish off any enemies that are left alive after her barrage of attacks works well with her.

Recommended Characters to pair (In order of... viability?)
    • Joseph (Our all rounder again, can synergize well with mostly everyone, in this case Joseph can quickly deal with enemies left)
    • Wendy (First time appearing, once she elevates the remaining enemies in the air the battle has been won)
    • Takeshi (He's a literal glass cannon)

    Scarlet
    A21_MUG.png
    Scarlet
The chaos maiden of Dime a Dozen can defend herself pretty well against any type of enemy that isn't resistant to fire. Otherwise, she'll eat through their healthbars pretty quickly with an avalanche (ironically) of Ether, Union & Base Elents. However, in terms of Defense, she has pretty much none, so any character that can protect her (although she will complain) will definitely help her finish faster.

  10. Could this be considered a Double Post? I don't know.

After a few days of work and tests (Still going through these) I can announce that Shadows of the Earth: The Vrila'an Legend can be played ONLINE! (Sort of)

Through the Help of Parsec, Shadows of the Earth can be played as if locally with up to three friends! Tests are still ongoing before releasing the demos (A/B & M) so please enjoy this small test video where i showcase how the game is played!

Amazing! The fact that it can be played online is a great bonus! Keep it up! :D
  12. Sorry I haven't updated for a while!
I've been working off in the completion of Arc 1, and while I can't exactly spoil you guys let's say there's roughly 60 "primary" events (Which i've opted to divide the story on) and i'm on event 28. There's a lot to share!
First some screenshots of the new places where some events will happen.
    1717114809453.png
    1717114924373.png
    1717115091122.png

There's a lot to unpack here so I'll make a spoiler if you want to read it.
    Lots of things
    • All Cameo Battles are working as intended. Once you clear them, you must recruit all the characters to be able to unlock the rest of the cameo Battles
      • For example, to access the Third Cameo Battle you must clear the second cameo battle and recruit Fia, Prim, Fidel & Tiqee. The leader of the cameo battle will appear outside the arena to let you recruit them!
    • Stores finally exist so you can now spend your hard earned Silva!
    • In exchange of reducing HP pools, enemies are now slightly harder to beat.
    • All enemies now properly drop at least 1 unit of Potential Energy Shards
    • Added [Female] and [Male] Specific Accesories. This allows for a more deep level of customization.
-> These accesories provide stronger bonuses at the cost of stronger drawbacks. For example, the [Emerald Hairpin] recovers 1 FLUX per hit. But it also can heavily reduce Attack or Elent Attack.
-> These accesories can be found at any chest, but cannot be bought. When sold they're well paid!
-> Some accesories are able to improve elents, such as reducing casting time for Ether Elents or Guaranteed Critical Strikes for Base Elents!
    • To prevent any issues, there are also Common Accessories and Armors! These give less bonuses, are cheaper to acquire at stores, can be dropped by enemies too and are a tier short! But they can be equipped by any character! This also of course includes the Cameo Characters!

I hope to be able to provide another demo once i reach event 35 and iron out any kinks and bugs that might appear, until the next "devlog"!
  13. Definitely will be looking forward to anymore upcoming updates! This is amazing :kaopride:
  14. You see, there are times when issues carry over from the past, and we seek to mend them. However, Guilt does follow, and that sometimes, just causes things to go... wrong.
    Floor 3_TerzaSiranPrison.png
Angorian has been in mourning due to its emperor, Lord Navion Caestis, being killed. There are many suspects. However, only I, Gianna Crestfallen, know who the true culprit is.

It's time someone brought them to justice.

Besides... that will be one pebble less in the path of my lord, tehehe~
  15. Greetings everyone!
I have mostly good news! The new demo is set to release very soon, almost near!
The gooder news is that there are no longer three demos (A, B & M for Advanced, Basic and Multiplayer), since they've been merged!
I'm just dealing with some little, silly bugs, such as battlebacks shrinking when a second player joins the battle.
    imagen_2024-06-07_152140404.png

Some other bugs, such as the battle menu not working at all (Currently only player 1 can open it) or when escaping a battle was impossible, or after that it became so possible that the escape progress bar didn't reset when you weren't dashing towards the screen edge have been fixed.

Now it's just a matter of gamepad input reworking (Doing rn) and tracking quest progress. This includes, but not limited to
    • Adding the Command Button to all gamepads (Required for Active Elents)
    • Changing Solo Character Swap

As of this moment the 4 Player Limit is working and all Player Slots work (With the exception of opening the menu for players 2,3 & 4)

Note that any controller works, provided they have 2 sticks, 4 normal buttons, 2 triggers and 2 shoulder buttons... Well, mostly any controller. Even simulated ones work.
  16. Where can I find said demo... your game looks a lot better than some of the rpg maker games I'M playing.....

(One small note... make sure to avoid making your battles "too flashy", Me personally think it's really annoying to just have a bunch of animations and stuff up on the screen to the point where it is hard to see....., I kinda just like simple (but challenging) battle systems that are only a little "flashy")

(Edit: A good example would be ff14, however skyrim did a really good job at this.....)
  17. @CoolBeans This demo is not yet ready, so you'll have to wait a little bit :)

Hope this doesn't come off as aggressive or something alike, but you're gonna be dissapointed in that regard. My game is very action based (Look up the Tales of Series) so you'll have a bunch of stuff in the screen. Between the characters moving, the animations playing, damage numbers flying and controlling your character's movement by yourself you'll probably have a lot thrown to you)
I've tried to reduce the screen clutter by visually adding outlines to enemies, giving you the options to reduce screen shake, activating the Solo player cursor, and almost 0 screen flashes unless i have no other effects to cover for it.

(TL-DR: This is not a turn based game, so you might have a lot thrown to you)

    Example:

Thankfully my game doesn't come to this level, yet.
  18. Ok @Erif, now what you showed me on the screen wasn't bad, and I like those type of game as much as anybody, but it's just to much "screen clutter" as you called it in my opinion is bad.... but still, the game looks really interesting.

"P.S. BTW you said "new demo" so like... do you have an old one? Or was that one temporary, and one more question, will this game cost $$$?)
  19. @CoolBeans Well, it depends what you consider screen clutter. Some things of the screen are really necessary.

It's currently in the links. It has a bug that impedes story progression on the second boss.

That's the idea yes. However, since i'm currently colaborating with the community, and it has lots of cameo characters, i plan to leave a final demo free to the public. Let's say the game has two story arcs and progression. The first arc will be left free with the cameo characters, and the second arc will only be accessible thorugh buying the game. However, that's still gonna take a while haha.
  20. Ok @Erif, I will definetly play the demo and buy it if it's good!
