  1. Another guy is done, and this time it is People1_3 - SF_People1_3 was already done by me, so past me had saved me some time on the hair, but that lil guy still needed a whole new outfit!
But now he is all dressed up and while he was meant to be an NPC, he totally could be a rouge or maybe something like a mage in disguise or something like that? What he will become is up to you, but at least now everything is possible for him!

  2. In case you wondered what was pulled from the advent... well, once there was a battleback day. But then I made the reindeers and everything turned into chaos in my folders ;D

So, again, I did some title-into-battleback thing, this time with the beach, and I wanted it so you can actually put water enemies like fish or so into the water part:
    Beachbattleback.pngBeachbattlebackno island.png

Second, something I already did, turning the bridge into a lake battleback, but this time I started over and made more variety - giving you the option to have an all water ground or to have the lake without the island!
    Bridgewithoutbridge.pngBridgewithoutbridge2.pngBridgewithoutbridge3.pngBridgewithoutbridge4.png

Inspired by the beach, I though it would be cool to have a version of the fire cave, where you can put your enemies onto the lava and your heroes onto the ground - whether that is just for the looks or also a mechanic is up to you!
    LavaCaveLavaRock.png

Same for the normal cave, in case you want a lord of the rings like watcher in the pond or just something that is dangerous but waterbound, here is your battleback:
    RockCave_Waterfight.png

And last but not least, the only one that is mix-and-matchable with other backgrounds, something that might look simple but that I was really happy about: the mountain ground! You now have a battle areal that has a cliff in the front, too, so you can have battles that feel like they actually take place on top or on the side of a mountain! It is not perfect, but it will do the job ;3

  3. Love the different battlebacks.. but that... BEACH... OMG!!!....
  4. These are just wonderful! I really like the idea of water-based enemies battling in the water where they belong. While they're all beautiful, that cave is just absolutely gorgeous!
  5. Oh me. Oh my. The battle back drop in here!
    Always a precious resource.
  6. I'm in love with those backgrounds!
  7. Today I'm doing another expansion on the What the RTP is missing resources, to be precisely, to SF_People1_7.
The graddad is ready to teach his grandchildren to fight or to step up and save them from whatever evil had snatched them!

  8. I've been away for a few days, so I'm only now catching up.

Those battlebacks are wonderful, much appreciated. It's really so helpful to have all these variations. Battlebacks in general need more love, but hardly anyone does them, so your contribution is even more valuable than usual. I espacially like the water cave and mountain top screens. Excellent work, and so useful.

I love the idea of Granddad saving the kids from suffering because of the errors of their ways. The role of granddads the world over.
  9. The grandpa might be a hero on his own, but we all know, he wouldn't be the man he is without his wife!
Granny - or SF_People1_8 - is ready to go with him on a quest to save their grandchildren out of the trouble they've brought them into after their great uncle Ralph thought it was such a good idea to tell them his adventure stories...
Ready to be animated enemy, supoorting NPC or hero on her own, Granny will teach everyone to not underestimate an elder lady!
And to be honest, the more I think about it, the more I'd love to see a game with her and the Grandpa as protagonists - either on a journey with their grandchildren or on their way to save them. She would be so fun in battle using whtdragons joke weapons like the broom or wooden spoon...

  10. Someone needs to make that game.

This Granny is Awesomeeee, Thanks Avery!
  12. So, while every SV Battler eats quite some time and nerves, but this was one that ate a bigger chunk, to say so. I hope it was worth it and that a lot of you make a good use of him ;D
The ennaido - or SF_Monster8 - is here and he is down to live up to his placement on the monster sheet, so beware! ;D
    ennaido.png
Real talk: I missed to mark some characters as complete in my sheet, and so my old numbers were even a little too low: the Ennaido is the 118th all complete character, and with him the sheet stands at a whopping 84% completion!
Some might have read my status post, but I did a little math and found out I am responsible for the existance of nearly 2/3rd of the contents and if I reach my goals for 2024, it will be a little more.

But for sure, the more stuff I create, the less exiting the remaining things get - there is often a reason why I have not made something yet ;D
I mean, ignore this blabla, if you just want the resources, but just some random chitty chat. SV Battlers really are time consuming and I only tackle them if I have a motivation burst and my brain is like "look, we can do it like this and that and here that strategy and then it can be done in a reasonable time". So there are some things for which I might make one, but that always depends on my mood, as everything else. Like I know if I make that other robot and recolor it I can fill 5 slots (and complete 5 characters, since 4 recolors of him are on SF_People3), but that would require a lot of work and patience to make. For most designs it is just the amount of work that goes in them, but for others like the Dog it is just that I hate the default design. I know I already added to the Dog and the Zombiedog with battler and bust, but I really hate how they chose a dog with cropped ears. Not wanna start a discussion but it is forbidden in my country to do that and I second that. And other things are just plain weird. Maybe one day I feel like a troll and make an emoset for the "sandworm", but I guess the only games that thing would end in would be PG-18 if you know what I mean...
I have two other things that I finished and already have made more than 1/3rd of what I wanted to make, but I think with my yearly goal reached I'll also be very close to the end of things I wanna contribute for amount of work or design reasons. Never say never, but while this was a huge project and will still go on for quite a bit I am also looking forward to be able to close the project with "nah, if there are more additions, someone else will do them". And I guess, a lot of you would also prefer me finishing up those tileset wips that I have as leftovers from the calendars or come up with other ideas how to edit the battlebacks ;3
  13. I agree that SV battlers are an enormous drain on time and energy, so thank you for doing them. I am one of those (because I use tall sprites) who cannot use your battlers, but I can still appreciate their quality.

Roll on those tilesets and battlebacks! But I can wait because I know that your battlers are used by a lot of people.
  14. I wish I had your talent, skill level, and patience!
I have been trying to MZ-ize Harold's SV_Actor for.. so long now.. Perhaps I am just not using the correct tools, but pixel color by pixel color.. and Harold is already made! I couldn't imagine making a SV Actor from scratch!

  15. To be honest, will all the extra stuff I stuffed into the calendar and that I have released since then plus the unrelased stuff I could have just put everything aside and had it be the calendar for this year xD So if I don't manage to finish one this year - you kinda already got one ;D

    Aaaaanyways.

Something that also didn't make it into the calendar cause I was just not hundred percent done with it was this bridge.
To be honest, I don't like those default MZ bridges at all and so I decided to make a basic yet beautiful and versatile bridge to help everyone out who feels the same about the default ones.
    AveryBridgeMZ.png
Here is a quick example to show how flexible those bridges are: it is up to you whether you want a handrail or if you want those extra two bars on the sides or if you want the bridge floating or with those piers - and as you can see, there is also an option to place them on water, too!
    Map130.png
  16. I tried to frankentile a bridge once because I just really didn't like the default. The result was awful. So thank you for this and I love that it has both a land-footing and a water-footing. I also always appreciate you take the time to make a sample map.
  17. I 100% agree with you about the default bridge. This is so much better, and as you say, it is a lot more versatile.
    Thank you.
  18. Today I have a Bust-Face-Emoset combo for one of the defaults that I wanted to tacke for quite some time by now: the SF_Mechasphere.
@Holder has made an amazing SV Battler for that thing and like the Demonpot, I just feel like having the Face/Bust Combo allows you to bring them over from the enemy side to your party.
And there is so much opportunity in those fun constructs: being sentinent constructs, summons by e.g. a tinker class, maybe being a vessel for a trapped soul of a mage... there is so much you can do with those things.
And now, well, you can have it talk and express emotions ;D
Plus: Also @Kes can use this, since for a ball you don't need a tall sprite :p

  19. Oh I love those emotions on it!
The ideas for how to use the thing is a nice touch, hope it inspires people to do something like that.
