I'm curious if anyone is using AI assets in a game, RPG Maker or otherwise. I'd like to see that.
Even better if they're published on Steam, Play Store etc.

I did, just as an experiment, I made a VN. Never completed it, which is just laziness because I have written the whole story and generated all the art. It is about me vs me. I made a hero and villain, both based on 2 very different images of me: me with long hair, me with a mohawk. (Those hair styles are included in the original photos. One is currwnt, one is ancient, Ill let you guess which is which.)
Im not sure if I am allowed to link to games that contain AI art, or basically it's only AI art, even though it's made in MV. Id love to show it to you.
I'll send it privately just to be sure. -

I have on my Steam publisher page third party developers that made RM games using AI (mostly for character art, sometimes monster art too). Their AI games did better than their (formerly released) RTP games btw. -
I thought the latest forum rules let you post RPG Maker games with AI assets as long as they're disclosed?Im not sure if I am allowed to link to games that contain AI art, or basically it's only AI art, even though it's made in MV. Id love to show it to you.

In that case, here is the first scenes. Like I said, laziness got in the way.

I "played" this but think you could do much more with it if you're using AI. Right now it's just a slideshow of a few static images (other than the lights) with text. You could push the limits more with more image variety and animations. In that case, here is the first scenes. Like I said, laziness got in the way.

Doesn't surprise me for low budget "no name" games, although I'm seeing a lot of AI on the Play Store even on big games.I have on my Steam publisher page third party developers that made RM games using AI (mostly for character art, sometimes monster art too). Fwiw I've seen a ton of them on steam and the playstation store... I'll see if I can dig some out @AquaEcho

You're too kind, it's rather "zero" budget lol AI is pretty good for character art and it doesn't change much the essence of the dev's work who instead of resorting to RTP or packs at best just uses AI for new characters. -
I consider time to be part of the budget as is publishing fees. It's the total investment put into the game. You're too kind, it's rather "zero" budget lol AI is pretty good for character art and it doesn't change much the essence of the dev's work who instead of resorting to RTP or packs at best just uses AI for new characters.
Character design is one thing I personally wouldn't use AI for as there are legal protections for characters made by a human vs AI. Maybe for throwaway NPCs. Generic assets for backgrounds and stuff though, sure. -

In that case indeed "low budget" qualifies. -

Yeah, its not a real serious project. I just wanted to put something together in a weekend. Did you like the monologue so far, though? -
It's a good start although the pacing is a little slow. I think some visual variety would spice it up.Yeah, its not a real serious project. I just wanted to put something together in a weekend. Did you like the monologue so far, though?
What I am interested in is using AI to reach production values beyond what an individual is typically capable of producing and breaking the typical time and resources constraints. -
I write my own lyrics, and use detailed prompts in Suno to set those lyrics to music.
Yesterday at work:
Coworker: "So you're a composer?"
Me: "No, I write the lyrics, a composer writes the music."
Coworker: "But you tell the AI what to do, right?"
Me: "Yes, but I still don't write the music. I tell the AI: Here I want a guitar solo, there a violin joins in, pogo beat here, drop there, but I do not come up with the melody."
So, what am I?
I mean, I am the author, that is for sure, but even though I do not compose, I do create the music. So what does that make me? Not a composer, not a musician either. A producer?
I asked AI the same thing, they didn't know a clear term. So I came up with Producer/Songwriter. (Like singer/songwriter, but I am not a singer)
Do you think that term is accurate? Do you know a better term? -

Songwriter for sure since you write the lyrics (more specifically a lyricist), and arranger since you piece together music written by 'others'. -
I don't mix anything together. And neither does the AI. The AI learns from existing music, to create it's own. The sounds used to make the music, are all royalty free samples provided by the AI. It is not as if we listen to a song of Metallica, Alanis Morrissette and Pavarotti blended into something now.
I know this is how it is explained, but in reality it is a lot more complex: The AI dissolves old music, reverse engineers it, learns from it, does that to millions of different songs, and then creates new music with that knowledge.
You could compare it with a dev, who snoops out all kinds of plugins, to understand how they were made, so then he can make his own, complete new plugins.
Yeah, I think that is a nice way to explain it.
That doesn't mean it won't use riffs or melodies similar to their training materials, but they are designed not to. When similarities happen, it is more likely a coincident, then AI actually taking parts.
At least this is the case for the AI's I worked with. There might be AI's that are just automated remix machines, but I havn't seen them. -
Can you post what it creates if the prompt is "Epic ten minutes long drum heavy Genesis style song from their 70s prog era with Peter Gabriel as singer featuring innovative keyboards solos in the style of Tony Banks and raw guitar moments in the style of Steve Hackett"? :D
EDIT:
I tried it:
Clockwork Gardens of the Blind King
Sounds a lot more like Camel or Gentle Giant than Genesis IMO also no vocals despite the prompt clearly asking for a singer.
Another one:
Clockwork Gardens of the Blind King
This one's got lyrics but sounds like Dream Theater, not at all like Genesis.
Watcher of the Fourth Wall
This one isn't bad but sounds more to me like 80's arena rock ala Giuffria or Night Ranger.
Garden of Clockwork Kings
For now the AI really fails to replicate Genesis but maybe you can obtain better results.
EDIT (2)
I asked for Duran Duran this time and got something quite nice sounding but wayyyy off the mark.
Retro Satellite Heart
In general it sounds nice but I find it hard to get something I really want. They also never sound like the bands I request. -
Well, you have to be creative with the lyris.
Here is an example:
[Intro]
[Epic orchestral swell with heavy cello and ominous drumming]
[Clean electric guitar melody with a folk-inspired medieval flair]
[Verse 1]
Oh, there once was a hero named Ragnar the Red,
Who came riding to Whiterun from old Rorikstead
[Chorus]
And the braggart did swagger and brandish his blade,
As he told of bold battles and gold he had made.
[Instrumental Break]
[Fast-paced power metal riffing with soaring violin melodies]
[Verse 2]
But then he went quiet, did Ragnar the Red,
When he met the shield-maiden Matilda, who said;
[Pre-Drop]
[Music slows down, bass thumping like a heartbeat]
[Vocals turn into a fierce, commanding growl/shout]
"Oh, you talk and you lie and you drink all our mead,
Now I think it's high time that you lie down and bleed!"
[Drop]
[Explosive orchestral hit, high-pitched power metal scream]
[Wall of sound: heavy distortion and symphonic brass]
[Verse 3]
And so then came clashing and slashing of steel,
As the brave lass Matilda charged in, full of zeal.
[Guitar Solo]
[Technical, shredding guitar solo interweaving with a flute melody]
[Extended solo section to build duration]
[Orchestral Bridge]
[Grand choir chanting "Ragnar! Ragnar!" in the background]
[Heavy double-bass drumming intensity increases]
[Chorus]
And the braggart named Ragnar was boastful no more-
When his ugly red head rolled around on the floor!
[Outro]
[Final heavy crash of the drums]
[The sound of a rolling object on a wooden floor]
[Fading tavern ambiance with a single somber violin]
[End]
Those tags is how you direct the music.
Note: Those lyrics are an example, they are copyrighted, they are from skyrim. Do not use them in Suno, or you risk your account being banned. Also avoid saying "Sound like Genisis", or any other band/artist. Trying to use copyrighted content gives you a few warnings at first, then you get banned.
I have created a gem in Gemini, in this I insert the lyrics and style I want, and Gemini turns it into a lyrics prompt.
Google Gemini
Note that this is my personal gem. I've set it to public for now, to show, so you can see what I did. I will set it to private again soon. You should create your own version, that is more to your liking though.
I have Watcher of the fourth wall on while I write this. Sounds pretty nice. But I see you've hit a bug. The song keeps going and going without ever meeting an end. To prevent this, put things like [End][Stop] at the end of your lyrics. It stull gets trough sometimes, which is an issue with V5. If you keep having this issue, switch to 4.5, which is more stable. (v5 is still in beta.)
Edit: I see you do use tags, but you made a few errors. You're missing some brackets here and there, for example. Try the gem, it might help you get clean prompts. It is designed to never change the lyrics, yet it warns you when it finds typo's, leaving it up to you to correct them or leaving them is for suno's sake. -
I plan to for my second game, Chronicles of Avineria. I did use commissions alot during my first project, but truth is, I can't afford to do so anymore. Especially with some of the artists I worked with lying to me and selling me ai generated artwork. Truth be told I can't tell the difference in many cases anymore, so I might as well not spend a fortune and use ai from the start. Will probably make a version with RPG Maker character generator portraits though.I'm curious if anyone is using AI assets in a game, RPG Maker or otherwise. I'd like to see that.

Here is some new artwork for another character. -
Yeah, it's unfortunate there are scammer "artists" now selling AI art as their own creations and some are good enough that only other artists can tell. You have to go by their history and reputation these days. I'm just glad I'm capable enough of drawing my own.I plan to for my second game, Chronicles of Avineria. As I've stated earlier there are legal IP protections you get for human created art that you don't get for AI ones, so if it's a character design, logo, etc. unique and important to your game's identity it can be worth doing it yourself or a trustworthy reputational artist. Things like generic settings, items, are less important.
