I feel like I should add what I've been working on as well. I wanted to start making character art assets and to get a good style, I started with the default MV characters. Once I'm done with them (or at least some of them), I'll add my own designs to the pack.

    It's a bit big, so it's in a spoiler

She's pretty is all I have to say, other than that I like it.

  3. @BlackRoseMii she looks very nice, and the armour design is hella cute! :kaoluv: Especially the legs! Speaking of which, wud you consider shortening them a bit and see how it looks? I know part of it is probably a style choice, but her legs look a li'l bit too long in proportion to her body, so... :kaoswt:

Everything measures up to be human proportions. Two heads for body, four for the legs, the arms are angled with depth but the elbow resting area just below the bust also seems right.

Personally I'm not a big fan of suggested noses, but that's preference and when it's done as a complete set style I can overlook it (Example being Final Fantasy tactics)
  5. I've heard several people telling me that the legs I draw are too long. I know where this comes from (from other styles that inspired me when I first starting drawing), but whenever I try to make them shorter it just starts to look...wrong. It's like it's been burned into my mind for the two decades I've been drawing.
  6. @BlackRoseMii The legs look too long to me, but I think the issue for me is that the shins don't have any major details so they kinda seem like long tubes of blank space. And that makes them seem even more off to me.

Instead of shortening them since that looks wrong to you, what if you added some armor details to them? Like some latches on the sides or some lines for gilding like her upper body armor. That could break it up a bit and help connect it more to the rest of her detailed upper body.
  7. Something like this?

  8. @BlackRoseMii Yes! That looks a lot better to me already, it ties things together. :) I'm now curious what it would look like if you made the knee joint a little bigger, but just that addition helps a lot.
  9. Sprite-0004.png
    100% - 200% zooms
also showing base of sprite positioning.
Tried to move away from default RMs over hyper chibi style and more taller and to give more room for body/clothing shape.
    Thoughts?
(Yes, I almost made this a 'status' update)

Rotation fames for male and female.
  12. @Holder Doing catch-up, so a bit late.
As I said in the status update where you showed Sally without clothes - that is some serious hair you've given her. The battlers brings it out extremely well with the long flowing pony tail, and the way its gathered up under the hat. btw, love that hat.

@BlackRoseMii This is probably far too late to be useful, but...
The detailing on the shin does indeed make a difference. However, I think that what's still throwing off the proportion is the way you've done the footwear. It stops far too low down and is, in effect, across the ankle, rather than just above it. I think if you were to extend the top bit of the shoes up the leg a bit, you'd solve the perception problem.
  13. Ah thank you @Kes I tried the silhouette to see if she was still recognisable. I hope once I release the template people can really show off their characters on the map rather than everyone looking like huge head Lego people.
Just the walking motions left to do which I'm going to try and finish at least one direction tonight.
  14. Okey dokey, I worked on my title screen for Shadowloom aaaaaannnd... may have ended up in Bastard!! land for a bit. Too much heavy metal? Still tryina think if I want some decorations, like tree branches or summat, around or below the menu... :kaoswt: Also, I didn't actually want to do a black background, but my palette constraints hit me in the face!

Why does this remind me of naked gun.
  16. Actually, what do y'all think? I made a quick alt version of my title screen, dunno which I like more? Here, I got rid of the black background, the babes, moved title down a li'l bit and fiddled wid the border a bit. :kaoswt: The babes are heavy metal, but they felt a li'l crowded, is all. Thoughts?

I like this one better, reminds me of an Amiga game.
  18. @alice_gristle I prefer the layout and altered border of the second, but tbh, I prefer the black background to the purple one.
  19. @Kes and @Holder thank you for your thoughts!:kaoluv:Yeah I know the black looks better, but I'm not sure I wanna use it, so now I'm agonisin' over whether I wanna make concessions to my palette... Ima keep on workin' wid the second one as base, and will look if I can insert some heavy metal babes regardless! :wub

Okay, why not, fade from one to the other..?

    HOWEVER! On a objective note.
So, I'm not saying myself and kes aren't giving good input here when I say this but: "We aren't presenting your game."
Just like art style or music choice, there's some parts that people have opinions on BUT the person who knows what suits the tone and theme of the game best is you.
