I most likely wont participate in future game jams. It wasn't worth the stress and lost sleep. Sorry, it's just how I feel
I can understand the stress (I joined a few jams as well in the past) due to the deadline, and I'm sorry you feel like it wasn't worth it, the main goal here was to have fun as a community right before celebrating Xmas.

If you want my opinion, finishing something is always worth it, whether good or bad, you should be proud of what you accomplished, it wasn't time wasted if you managed to get it done.

    Thanks for joining.
  2. I won't argue why it wasn't worth it but I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
  3. btw, in case anyone is interested, here are all the "secrets" in The Worst Noel:

    Name puns:
The title is a play on the title of the song The First Noel
The protagonist is Chris T. Massie (christmassy)
The twins are Holly and Dolly Jolie (holly jolly)
The teacher is Miss L. Teaux (mistletoe)
The snowman-building friend is Tim Sell (tinsel)
The arch-nemesis is Deckard T. Hall (deck the hall(s))

The dog's default name is Employer because my IRL dog is called Boss

    "hidden" interactions
    - Interacting with the left side of the shop
    - Trying to create a snowball while not on snow
    - Trying to create a snowball while already holding one
    - Trying to throw a snowball without having made one
    - Entering a house while holding a snowball
    - Throwing a snowball off-screen
    - Hitting a bin with a snowball
  4. The Game Jam was definitely an experience worth having for me and I don't regret entering.

Next time, I will definitely change my focus to a more simplistic game that is better suited to the theme and categories.

However, I will always remember my first ever feedback on my first ever deployed and shared "game"...

"I am sorry... I appreciate the effort stepping into game development, but this game made me cry.
It was painfully slow and I was craving for it to end."

Oh, my. Not exactly what I was going for.

It's a good thing us Zombies are emotionally dead inside. Otherwise, I would have had to crawl back into my shallow, unmarked grave...or go out looking for brains to eat away my sorrow. Urg...argh...

Zombie immortalized for the wrong reason! :LZSlol:

Actually, given the theme of your username/persona, I have the perfect jam entry of mine for ya to check out:

  6. @Trihan I will definitely check that out! I was just on the page, reading the description. I will do that after I play some more of this year's entries!

I found this on my own, but didn't know the rest, it is really smart thinking though.
who did make those creative names?

    That was all me. :D

There was also supposed to be another character called Angel Topp but she got cut for time.

@MoztheTiger I know you did update the font in a later version. I did have to play the deadline version for judging purposes and I don't know if the new font would lessen the impact but...would you consider putting a warning for neurological disorders on your game?

I was OK with the font until it turned red in that all red room. There are thankfully four other judges but I was physically unable to play the game after that point. Sorry.

Ouch :( I'm so sorry... now I feel bad... At what point I had to change the font of the game, but well, this serves me as an experience, I'll try not to let it happen again and sure, I'll do it, I think that with the default font it makes less impact. When the result of the Game Jam comes out I will delete the old version and I'll make a last update to change some effects.

Well, I had a great time at this Game Jam, thanks to everyone who played my game, I know the puzzles can be difficult and frustrating, but I was looking for something challenging and a crazy and comical story.

I've learned a lot thanks to this Game Jam, I'm happy with what I have done to have so few days to finish the game, so I'm happy, all the feedback I've received only makes me more eager to make games, besides, I've one in development for months, and I hope to share information soon!

    Thank you for this opportunity!

PD: I've played almost all the games and there are some very good ideas and good quality, let's see if any of my favorites are in the top 3 :hhappy:
  10. Some comments I have for the submissions I played so far

@ShadowDragon This game was interesting as a platformer that manages to be this smooth while being confined to grid-based movement. However, I feel the draw of the game isn't compelling enough to keep me trying past the level with the rotating death column thing
@AphoticAmaranth If I didn't make it clear your game was definitely fun back when I did some beta testing for it
@TRIDIUM I can see why a lot of people might take Jane as endearing but the way Jane decides to abandon her duty to care for a defenseless animal to talk to a random cute guy who barely wants to be talked to, I felt was very disagreeable. The story is pretty cute if I ignored that though
@Izzy_MS Fun and also unassuming. Was interesting as I picked "wrong" choices but two of them were correct anyways
@LunarSpire_ The game was very confusing at first since it doesn't slowly introduce you to the 8+ items in the game, and I was unlocking areas which I don't have tools for. Played for about 13 minutes
@Nowis-337 lmao I wasn't expecting the game to keep track of how often I shock the elves. I think you have a pretty reliable formula for short games but you probably already know that lmao
@BerryB Like I said in the other server, you definitely nailed down the game feel even if someone like me won't understand the story
@Aesica Your game did a really good job at setting a comedic tone. Even if the boss battle wasn't balanced to your liking I think that tone was even more important for this jam
  11. the DeathTrap is more of a tiny timer , so you cannot sit still once you
    save the fairy :)

it just a cool mechanic I love to build ^^ and its one of the sweetest
mechanic you basicly see in that game :D

also it's a custom made trap for that game only, so it was worth it :)

The Final boss fight was actually fairly difficult, but I got the bad ending, not sure what the choice was supposed to be. Tried not attacking the boss, but nothing happened, not sure if there was something else.
To give a hint, pay attention to what she says after you defeat her.
    the solution
Use any food item on her after defeating her.
  13. Ok Sooo... I ended up downloading every single game for this jam. Now obviously it's a bit too late to start streaming as I play all of your entries. BUT - I promise that I will get to them all. I'll be busy the next few days with Christmas parties but I'll probably have time to stream on Tuesday. I know that will be after Christmas but that's the best time I can promise where nobody else wants me for anything.

Wasn't sure if that was a possibility in the game, but thanks. Still liked the game well enough.

Nah, Jane can be the villain or the hero. Depends on how you look at it.
  16. NO really, Mark (or Mike? Some M name) was spittin’ straight facts. What about dis dog tho? I’m just really glad you didn’t make it THAT kind of dog story.
  17. Mark, you had it right the first time.
    Sounds like a youtube short.

Man defeats woman's OLD, Traditionalist views on holidays with FACTS and LOGIC!
  18. Whoopsie, looks like I missed player's choice voting!:kaoswt: Well, merry Christmas y'all, I love you lots, don't OD on chocolate! :wub
  19. My thoughts on the games will be a bit more detailed, provided I get through them all. Thank god for that "less than 30 minutes per game" requirement.

Oh dear. Me, who just happened to have 4 hours of train travel to kill playing the submitted games. Too bad... but I'll try to give some feedback if I can. In any case, congratulations to everyone for succeeding in this challenge, and Merry Christmas.
