Event - Sleigh the Competition! 2023 Christmas Game Jam

@TESTOSTERONE All of my images are from free to use sites such as Pixabay, Pexels, or Unsplash. I read their terms of use and licenses and it appeared that commercial use was ok. And you have the option of donating to the content creators if you choose.

I also have 10 images from iStock and I have a membership/account/whatever it is called for the license to use the images. Because I really wanted those 10 images.

I have a Word document with links to all the images so anyone can check the sources directly if desired.

I hope I didn't make a mistake in the way I read the terms of use on those sites.

EDIT: @BerryB and @Starmage I don't think any of my characters would be conducive to a cameo since I used all photo images. With the exception of the Snorlax drawing that @Avery made me. But I'm down for pretty much anything. Doing anything else with the Snorlax image would be up to Avery.

Been meaning to play your entry, Zombie! <3 So I'll play it and look at dat Snorlax char and hopefully Avery can give her thoughts of its use in a commercial game. ^^ Thanks so much! :D

Very cute little game and I really enjoyed throwing presents as a combat skill xD :D <3 It was fun navigating thru to deliver the presents, and the racoon is such a cutiepie. xD :D <3 Love that they go to enjoy the holiday cheer together in the end. :D Great job! (PS: Thanks also for giving us permission to use your chars for Heroes of the Seasons) ^^

But yeah, just a well deserved congrats to everyone who finished something! That's a skill all in its own, and one that can be very hard to learn speaking from experience. :kaoswt2:

I assume it's too late to submit my entry. I still have a few things to do like the cover art and play testing.

Also congrats to all the people who finished their games. I kind wiffed near the end of jam because I spent a few days on my main game finishing some art for that before cracking down on this Jame game.

Oh I fully plan to reuse the mechanics in other games so all the effort wasn't for naught.

Alas, known issue in mine: the trigger to go back home and end the game appears to freeze in some configurations! A last-decond attempt to fix a bug did, in fact, introduce more bugs.

Please make sure that giving a gift to the carolers is the last thing you do! I know that variant worked on this build.

Don't know if this weird/acceptable or not, but I've playing through entries and making thoughts on them, don't know if it's wanted to be shared here or elsewhere (especially because I'm doing all of them because it doesn't feel fair to leave any out). Don't know if any of that is wanted when I'm just some schmuck that's barely been here.

I think that as long as it's constructive criticism and ...tips? It should be fine.
Unless you start bashing them for no reason.

The only way to go from being some schmuck that's barely been here to some schmuck people value the opinions of is to start sharing your opinions with the other schmucks. :)

I‘m sorry that the entry I uploaded seems to be unplayable. I don‘t know why and sadly I can‘t change it since I‘m away over the holidays and will only be back at January 4th to fix it.
It was an unfinished entry anyway, so I think the best is probably to disregard it entirely.

It's good for the link and the poll, but... it's going to be hard to vote for just ONE game. There are so many good games out there! :kaoswt:

Hey so. Uh. Whoops. I forgot to enable a "limited to 1 response" feature. The judges and I agreed that to account for any possible impropriety (we of course have no way to know for sure if any occurred) that we clear the responses and ask for everyone to select their votes again. Fortunately we only had 9 so far.

I was gonna go through and post on everyone's itch page, but I got lazy and I figured I post it all here.
NOTE! My computer has been acting up, so if your game isn't on the list, it's because 1: You didn't enter 2: My computer crashed when I tried to run it. Sorry.

And, goes without saying, but these are just lil quick opinions. Feel free to take or leave them.

@ShadowDragon - Loved the platforming, but the lack of sound bothered me.
@AphoticAmaranth - I really like the cats. I don't know what else to say. Cats alone would carry the game. Combat is pretty simple, but fun!
@Izzy_MS - The art was super cute! NGL, I think I gave all the worst presents, but it was a fun lil story!
@LunarSpire_ - Really cool idea, I just think that the costs for stuff could have been lowered a bit.
@JohnDoeNews - I love the idea, I just have trouble reading text on screen, so I had to skim some parts.
@Nowis-337 - Very creative! The eventing and everything was really polished, and I know how much of a pain that is.
@Starmage - Wow, there is just a lot of game there! Honestly a little overwhelming XD, but in a good way
@TSR - Unfortunately, it crashed as soon as the minigame started, but I did like the art.
@Slaughty - Man, I freaking love on map battle systems. Double thumbs up on that!
@ilmania - The pacing was a bit slow, but it was very polished!
@CCCreations - Stupid computer. Was just getting into it when it crashed. :kaodes:
@jssf1992 - I'm a simple man, and your game was just too complicated for old Trid.
@r66r - I love this game so much. Really simple idea, but the scene was so damn charming and funny. Really encouraged me to search every nook and cranny.
@alice_gristle - Short but VERY sweet. Writing was spot on and the graphics were cute!
@BerryB - I really wanted to like this one. I'm not a fan of clicker games, so I chose the easy mode, but then it felt a little too easy. I made the mistake of downloading the non PG13 version and now I don't know if I'll ever be able to look at a Christmas tree the same way again.
@NekoCassowary - I love, love the raccoon protag. The combat was a bit confusing, but otherwise good.
@Gensun - I love the cinematics on this one. And, the fact that Reid was in his underwear was just plain funny.
@Trihan - Funny as hell, and the narration just completed it. The art is also very cute!
@ZombieKidzRule - Sorry, I really couldn't get past the character creator(?). The text was just so, so slow, and I got a headache from all the reading.
@slimmmeiske2 - I loved the concept, but I couldn't seem to get the hot chocolate. I tried everything, but it didn't work. Sorry!
@BobbyLily - The character design and writing was amazing! Really dig the vibe.
@AquaEcho - Really unique, but also quite challenging.
@Erif - Really, REALLY wanted to play this one, but unfortunately, it crashed at the first battle.
I need to fix my computer, lol.
@AdamWillard - Since it was 3D, I'm surprised my computer ran it for more than 5 seconds. Wandered around a bit, and then...bleep bloop.

And, of course.
@TRIDIUM - Wow, I mean, the game was pure perfection. Not really much else to say.
