    So I bought some Christmas music for my game and the "creator's" response sounds like he used AI to make them. He said he "has the right to sell them" but didn't make them.

    Sigh. It's really disappointing because I don't have time to spend hours looking for new music

    @AquaEcho Take a quick look at Pixabay. They have a music tab and you can search Christmas. You might not find the perfect thing quickly, but you should be able to find something within a few minutes. Then you just download and convert to an OGG file.

    You can check on YT too, some composers uploads their tracks there.
    There are also a lot of free awesome tracks from the composers on this site, and some stuff on japanese blogs (check @slimmmeiske2 's translated terms) or maybe you can search in the old Xmas Restaffs.
    It doesn't necessarily have to be a Xmas track you know, it can even be a winter/snow/relaxing-cheerful track, the difference is negligible.

    I would personally stay away from any form of AI generated content.

    Thanks. I didn't know it was AI generated until I asked and his lack of a track record or following was suspicious. I bought it because it was a large selection of "Christmasy-sounding" music without outright being Jingle Bells or Up on the Housetop.

    Ask before you buy or search if its original ;)

    there comes tons of AI generated stuff which can be painful.
    there is a lot of free stuff you can try or know what files are in there,
    or a preview how they all sounds.

    It is original, it's just most likely AI. I searched using one of those song recognition software and it got no results. I'm filing a help ticket with itch customer support saying he doesn't own the rights to the music.

    Here is a hint... This was my first game console:

    (Okay, it is not exactly the same, cause I had one by Phillips, and this is the Odyssey 2. But it is essentially the same machine from a different brand. They look the same and the games were the same as well. Oh, it came with 99 cartridges, by the way!)

    Is this sufficient for crediting RPG Maker as the engine and for whatever RTP assets I used?

    Uhm. I believe for RTP and RPG maker you credit Kadokawa/Enterbrain. At least, that is how it used to be. They changed owner or publisher or whatever it was, so maybe now we credit something else.

    I did still credit Kadokawa/Enterbrain, though. That is what I was learned to do when I started out.

    I also still credit Vexed Enigma for the graphics I use, even though they are known as Malibu Darby now. That is real cool for them, but they can't expect me to keep track of all that, you know.
