  1. @TESTOSTERONE I think my question got buried in the conversation, sorry for the ping--what's your stance on the RTP? Do you want the games to be stand-alone, or do you have the RMXP/VXA RTPs installed already? I can pull the RTP so it will work without, but I'll need to know ahead of time so I'm not scrambling at 11:50 on the 21st XD
  2. I don't have RTP installed. I would recommend stand-alone please. I'm sure people who don't have RTP installed would want to try your game as well.
  3. Aye captain! I'll pull it right now so I can't forget later XD
  4. I made considerable progress today! Just a couple more puzzles/minigames to implement, some interactions to polish and the endings to add in and we're good to go!
  5. On my end, i'm just finishing the battle sprites and cut-ins. Warning: The writing is kinda corny sometimes and humor is really bad. (Believe me, i tried)

You want to talk about bad humour?1702977497536.png
  7. I did a lot of work yesterday, but made very little progress. I fought with an error message in my 3rd mini game and I could not figure out what was going on. I tried so many things and have been working on it for about 3 hours again this morning. Kept trying to narrow down exactly where the problem was.

Finally found it. I was removing all the Party Members one at a time and I forgot to add them back in before the next step. So, yeah, it was throwing an error because I wanted a Party Member name and there weren't any.

    DOH!

But on the plus side, I finally figured it out. After almost giving up.

And here is a screenshot of the set up of my 3rd mini game.

The reason I was fighting with it was because I wanted to let the Player decide who gets which number on the dice. And that was WAAAAYYYY harder for me than I thought it would be.

And, of course, there are 18 possible Avatars for the Player and 8 possible Avatars for the Immortal Child and 3 different gender colors.

And yes, the #1 is purposefully missing. A roll of 1 equals a reroll of the dice.

This game is based on a very simple (yeah right) kids' game called Snail Pace Race.

Each player rolls the dice, but the player that moves is the one whose number on the dice is showing. So a player can move another player forward.

Anyway, now I can try to finish how the 3rd mini game operates and then move on before I run out of time.

  8. I have a complete and functioning game, all it lacks is sounds!:kaoluv: Two days left to cram in some annoyin' jingles and pretend to do some playtestin'! Given how a week ago I had just scrapped a functioning game and then pooped out this in seven days, Ima treat myself to an extra piece of chocolate! :wub

Pooping out a game sounds painful.
  10. @Trihan well, pooping is a pleasure! Most of the time.:kaoswt: Poopin out a game is also a pleasure... in a way.

This is veering into very uncomfortable territory. :p
  12. @Trihan I'll have you know that NOT poopin' is wayyyy more uncomfortable! :kaoluv:
  13. Seeing the number of people who came to the ER for GI issues because they had no idea what was not normal…I’m all about normalizing #2 talk. If you poop out a video game, please make way to the nearest emergency room.
  14. I am taking the same advice we give our students. I am double checking my work and using up all my time allotted. Because, apparently, I am that student who is only on question 30/50 with 90% of the time already gone.

And most of you probably already know this, but if not, consider this a PSA...calling a Common Event from another Common Event probably isn't the smartest idea and can lead to unexpected results.

I think I knew that, but I was being lazy. I usually do what I am doing through Map Events that call Common Events. But for some reason I decided to make my mini games as Common Events instead of Map Events, thinking it would be easier. Maybe not so much.

But I found a simple solution which probably works out better as a game design so...silver lining!

Plus, after the Game Jam, I am definitely going to restructure my game based on what I have learned so far.

OK...back to the Game Jam Eventing...AWAY!
  15. I finished the rest of my cutscenes yesterday. Definitely feel investigated in my game jam's characters despite their limited screen time. All that is left are the sprites, the title screen and the 2nd play test session(the least time-consuming part of all these activities.)
  16. Hello all, just to mention I've uploaded a new version of my game on my itch, based on the feedback I've received so far.
The game itself haven't changed, just added some conveniences for future players:
    conveniences
    Game over screen
Peoples seems to like my silly cut scenes, but some couldn't get to see the ending cause they're struggling too much to beat the game. So I added an option on the game over screen to skip directly to the end and watch the cheezy final scene.

    99 lives cheat code
Some were up to the challenge, but commented that 3 lives to beat the 3 levels was too restrictives.
Hence, I added the possibility to input a cheat code on the title screen to start the game with 99 lives.
From the title screen, while the window is selecting 'play', press left, right, left, ok on the keyboard as fast as you can. If you do it right, you'll ear a different sound when the game start, it will actually skip the intro, sending you straight to level 1 with 99 lives.

On another note, I will probably be away for some days, so I wish a merry christmas to everyones.
*I think there's still some peoples working on their entry. I wish them good luck and hope they can make it in time.

    Cheers :rock-right:

Life-A-Rctic is now available to play on the submission site. A clicker survival christmas themed gauntlet with silent storytelling. There is a censored version for the PG-13 to cover an early scene depicting severe blood gushing effect on the CG cutscene as a safety precaution against the rating system. Otherwise, no other gameplay changes are affected.

    I have questions...
  19. Perspective is key?
  20. @Trihan Well, in my childhood, Silent Night, Deadly Night was a Christmas movie so...
