@Kes. Thank you for taking the time to write such an extensive comment. I reworked this map a lot and changed things over and over again, so it became a bit unconsistent without me realizing it. So having an outside opinion is really helpful. Thanks again for the pointers.
Edit: I tried to change the map according to your suggestions. is this any better? (Since the shading still needs some work, I removed that layer for now.)

@Qed963 That's a great improvement. It makes a lot of sense for you to separate off the practice area the way you have. I also love your addition to the bottom left tower. That's a very nice tile which I don't remember seeing before.

@Kes It's an edit by Sturmfels. You can find it here: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/inde...-tiles-tiles-supporting-characters-etc.63714/

Hello there. I'm just looking for some honest opinions on the world map I just created for my project. It may seem a bit alternative and atypical compared to the classic ones, but this is precisely my purpose. Since the events of the game focus on one single island, I created the island itself as a world map.
Any criticism and/or suggestions for improvement are widely welcome.
Furthermore, if you like this map, you are free to use it for your project even without mentions.
Note that this is the first time ever i try to make seriously a world map in a project. -
My first impression from the zoomed-out view (rather than the player's perspective limited to the screen) is that it's rather blocky. Lots of very straight lines.
Aside from that, two thoughts:
You could make the divisions between biomes less of a straight line - have a tile or two on either side where the trees go into the mountains and vice versa, rather than just a stark "Here's where the sand and snow starts!"
You could use shift-click mapping to make the roads go into the towns and bridges and such, rather than having them visually terminate before the map feature they're leading to. -
I don't mind being blocky.
However, the forest on the top left has too many fruit trees, assuming it is a fruit.
Make it more sparse. -
@RoncoMonco Hi there! I’ve merged your request for map feedback into the map feedback thread.
-
Thank you for merging! I tried looking for the right place to post my request but i failed :D@RoncoMonco Ciao! Ho unito la tua richiesta di feedback sulla mappa nel thread di feedback sulla mappa.
Hello and thanks for suggestions. When you talk about the road system, do you mean something like this?
Hello and thank you for the reply. The village in the middle of that forest was supposed to be a village "specialized" in making lemonade, so i sarcasticly tried to make it hilarious, do you think that's too much?Non mi dispiace essere bloccato.
Tuttavia, la foresta in alto a sinistra ha troppi alberi da frutto, supponendo che sia un frutto.
Rendilo più sparso. -
To me, that looks better.Hello and thanks for suggestions. When you talk about the road system, do you mean something like this?

I posted this same map last year, but have since revised it using the FSM 2k3 style and really like how it looks now!

I just got finished with parallax mapping a new area for my interactive-fever-dream adventure game:

Everytime I see this thread popping up I get reminded that I didn'tpost here in ages, so here's a residential area thingy!

A house, decorated for the holidays. :kaoluv:
Picture
Sorry for any pixel distortion, my screen scaling settings don't do well with screenshots but I really wanted to be able to include the NPCs and in-game lighting in the pic. -
@fop level of detail is great! :kaoluv: More than that tho, I'm always in deep admiration of yo cute 'n elegant character sprites!
-
@fop A truly lovely map.
I know inner doors are a faff, and you can't do an odd one here or there - it has to be all or nothing. But maybe a curtain or screen to separate off the toilet from the rest of the house? -
@fop That's a very lovely map. :D My only feedback is that your Christmas tree looks way too big compared to the height of your walls.
-
@alice_gristle Thank you about the sprites! They are frankensprited like mad!
@Kes Great idea!
@slimmmeiske2 ....oooof I didn't notice that and now I can't unsee this huge tree jut stabbing up through the ceiling. I'll play around with its placement and if I can't get it looking better, then... we'll chalk it up to the magic of Christmas? :LZYwink: -
Working on my ff1 style battle system.

@csevans84 feisty-lookin' goblins wid great legs tho! :kaoluv:
