  1. @Ninjakillzu If nothing else, the sub-title (or whatever you want to call it) certainly catches the attention! As do the malevolent looking frogs.
  2. I had to stop before I made horrible choices. I watched some tutorials on world mapping, but I don't think this is turning outright. I have the layout in my head, but I can't seem to get it on down digitally.

    Goal:
    Most structures near the equator
    Cold biome near the South
    Hot biome near the North

I don't think it's horrible so far, but it is certainly lacking.
  3. This is why I have to rant on the merge some moderator made after I had posted my screenshots on a separate thread. I know it might serve pretty much the same purpose as this thread but I got ignored thanks to the merge for it was included right before DeBaby28 would post a reply to a comment.

The consequence is that I haven't been able to finish the menu script because I do lack of ideas on how to visually implement the Stat Lotto feature. I'm not blaming the average user for ignoring my post, I'm just saying the way my thread was merged made it highly possible to go straight into oblivion. :(

Just in case you didn't know this, I'm a scripter not a GUI designer. Thus I truly need to get some feedback on this if possible...

Your waterfall has no source. In general, mountain rivers have their sources in grottos or whatever lies inside the mountain. It doesn't pop like this on the floor
Your stairs look like ladders, you need to put some stair tiles before the cliff to make it more natural
you didn't use the cliff borders tiles, you only used the normal grass to draw your borders and it doesn't look well
your houses are very similar and lack of details
the village is kinda empty, you should add more little vegetation (grass, flower) and human built stuff (benches or whatever)

Actually that's not entirely true, PLUEVNR. There are superficial water sources usually covered by several trees. This is especially true in tropical countries. Sadly, her map doesn't resemble such a country at all. :aswt:
  4. Very early concept of a town map. Added text for context of buildings, as well as having a list of other buildings to add to, The two empty strips is just outlined building placements. Center on the upper half of the map is gonna have stuff added, but struggling with what to add to fill the space along with the lower platform design. Any ideas would be welcomed :)

    Edit:
    Tileset: Ancient Dungeons
Might have some extra things mixed in, like the brick floor tiles from Creepy Land (made brighter in photoshop).
  5. Got tired of mapping cities, decided to try my hand at a cave instead. Still needs some detail work, but I’m reasonably happy-ish with the basics of it for the moment.

  6. A village in my current Project.
Im actually very happy with my mapping, for the first time since I using the maker.
Now I must stop being a slowpoke and maker on. xD

  7. @Lornsteyn, what a cute village, honey! The only thing I'd drop is the wall. Don't make sense to me. I mean, anybody can just traipse through that thicket on the right, straight past the gate! If ya want something, how 'bout replacing it with a fence? That makes more sense, keeping animals in check and the like. Otherwise tho, a really inviting little hamlet! :wub
  8. @alice_gristle
I mostly take inspiration from old Snes games, mostly Breath of Fire.
Some villages are build like this in older games.
If you think about it, you probably just could walk trough the forest.^^
Sometimes you have sacrifice logic for aesthetic.
  9. Hi everyone. This is a video showing off a world map I made in VX Ace. It's just a test, so the places and names are just placeholders. I also wanted to see if I could have changing weather and music for different islands. (Apologies if the music is too loud in the video).

I really like the overall design of your world map and changing the weather and music in different places is a great touch. I would let the music fade out a little before starting a different tune so that it doesn't quite sound like it was cut off, but that is just my personal taste.
  11. It’s been a while since I last made a post in a thread like this, but here’s a piece I made for my game today that I’m really proud of:

(For anyone curious, my game’s made using the MV3D plugin.)

  12. I made a fully functional custom skill tree in a common event + a few scripts.

  14. nice message box @PLUEVNR
  15. Towns really aren't my strong point but here's a WIP for my current project, a hillside town the party arrives at early in the game at the edge of a vast forest - I still need more trees and general scatter on the main map but thought I'd get some feedback. This is in front of a parallax vista that changes between day and night and ignore the people standing on the counters on the interior maps - they are behind them in play I don't know why Orange Mapshot has captured them like that aha.

This is my first try in making a map at night (please be kind). Just testing how it would look like and how would I make those lights, but I know it's not the best so i wanted some tips and criticism on how to make better ones...
  17. This is actually not terrible. The main thing I would do is play with opacity a bit. Turn down the opacity of the lights (because I can't tell what any of them are for since they're covering up the tiles), and turn up the opacity of the overlay shadow, because it's too faint to look like night. See OP's mockup in this post. https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/lighted-windows-at-night.68926/
Pretty good for your first one, though.
  18. none of the windows are showing any light from inside (the inn and pub are still open right).
large walkway through town surrounded by water but 0 lighting and around the bridges. (i hope theres a drunk NPC in the water that couldnt see in the dark somewhere near that pub)
for the towns layout in general, weird how the inn doesnt directly connect to the main street. would you want to be a traveler in an unknown town and when you finally spot the inn there no direct path? have to walk back to edge of town, cross a bridge > random field > another bridge, just to see if they even have a room for the night and the price

    Thank you! I'll try it.

I completely forgot about the windows! Not sure how would i make them but I can try some things. About the layout, it's not really a vivid town, it's just a little village that usually provides stuff for the main town, but yeah maybe i should put some lights in the bridge. Thank you!
  20. Not to take away from the plugin you have, but one that I'm currently using works really great and easy to use: LMN Lighting and Time Editor. It doesn't look like it gets updated anymore, but I haven't run into any issues with it. Works great for me. Wanted to send in case you'd like to check it out. Comes with some nice images to use for lighting, as well.
