  1. @JohnDoeGames Ok, that was pretty cool. I'm not really into punk, but the music was good and the lyrical concepts are very funny.

On a different note, here is an example of how I think AI can be used to help design and visualize UI elements for a game.

I am a very visual person and I'm not good at just imagining things. I was using Google Gemini to help with certain aspects of UI design and it was recommending a particular design of color meters around the character portrait. I couldn't understand the recommendation and even when Gemini explained it in detail, I still couldn't visualize it. Gemini couldn't directly generate an example inside the same chat thread, but it wrote an image query for me to use to generate the image in a separate chat as an example.

Here is the result of the query that Gemini wrote.

    UI Example.png

I think this looks very interesting and is tremendously helpful for me as a very visual person.

The image essentially shows 7 different meters around the portrait, not counting the bars under the image.

It seems to me that AI will be exceptionally helpful for me to conceptualize and tweak UI by having the AI generate images for me to actually see. I can explain what I think I want to see and then tweak the results or try something entirely new.

Anyway, I actually think this AI image is very cool.

I hope everyone is making good progress on their projects!

    Have a great day!
  2. I like the blues version a lot more lol pretty well made, drums a bit "wooden" to my taste, AI is not yet doing ghost notes aha

    I'm not really into punk,

Me neither (although I do like some Green Day and PIL) but listen to the blues version then

Thanks mate. If you don't like punk, you should try the second track. I make an alternative version in other genres on the B side of all my singles, so people who don't like punk can still enjoy my lyrics.

All my singles? But this is my first, right? Nope... This is my first one under the name Punk My Life. I have Dutch music under a different name. I also have a 3rd stage name for music for children and a 4th one for songs with dirty lyrics. And they all follow that same format: Punk song on the A side, and an alternative genre on the B side.

This is my first English single, though.

I wrote this one during corona, about my RPG maker game, because in it I mention Jesus in a joke. Nothing offensive, but still... So I wrote it as a poem back then. If you were around back then, you might have seen it, because I posted it here. :p

Thanks. Yeah, that I can't argue with. The punk ones are more like party pogo tracks, while the B side is often the better track. I noticed that with more songs. Punk is fun, jazz, bluess, rock, pop etc are the musically better songs. But isn't that what Punk is? We can't play, we can't sing, yet we create a hit that makes people laugh, jump and peep the world. At least that is what it was supposed to be. And my lyrics fit that mentality very well, I guess.

Yeah, everyone who hates to jump around, listen to the real music.

Yeah that looks cool, but if I understand right, it is just a image, right? And you want to recreate it? Should be doable. Good luck
  4. We can't play, we can't sing, yet we create a hit that makes people laugh, jump and peep the world

Sid Vicious couldn't play for sure. I think punk ala Green Day or Offspring is pretty alright musically. Jesus of Suburbia in particular is an awesome piece of work.

    listen to the real music.

    Genesis.
So good and diverse each time I've asked AI to make a song, it never sounded like them.
  5. When I think Punk, I think Sex Pistols, Ramones, early years of beasty boys.

Genisis is nice. I'm more a metallica man myself. I enjoy a lot of music, though, and punk is not good for the quality. Punk is the ultimate musical rebellion: You say we can't live here? We squat and invite all our friend over for crazy parties and we never clean anything. We say we can't play here? We invite more musicians for a band-off and turn up the volume. You think we can't fill a garage concert because we don't know how to play the guitar? We reach #1 in all the hit parade's all over the world.

I mean, I am 50 years too late for that, but that is what Punk still means to me. And even though I never got to be a squatter, or in a crappy band, I still lived the punk life for a while. Money was tight, but the parties only ended when the other party started.

So yeah, that is what Punk is to me. Not good music, but great never ending parties.

Other musicians I love are plenty, but one guitarist I like to mention, and you ight love him too: Gary Moore. If you don't know him yet, listen to this instrumental part. You will thank me later.

But another thing with punk is: it works so well with AI if you want it to do weird stuff.
  6. For anyone interested. I queried AI on a LOT of design concepts related to creating a long JRPG in RPG maker, specifically how to deal with simplifying creation labor, while maximizing play value. Here is a summary of what it had to say. If you do a quick browse, you're likely to find something that applies to whatever you're working on.
  7. Thanks for sharing this. I took a quick glance and I will look at it more in depth later.

I have been using both Google Gemini and Grok to help with research for my new GDD. AI is incredibly efficient at collecting, consolidating, condensing, and organizing a LOT of information from a variety of sources as well as "brainstorming" to fill in gaps from those resources. What would take me dozens, if not hundreds of hours, takes AI only seconds.

And when asking for feedback on design concepts and content, the two different AIs can offer interesting different perspectives. I tend to prefer Gemini over Grok for information and answering questions, but Grok is much more generous with image and video generation limits.

But one thing you have to watch out for with AI feedback is that it can be overly complimenting and validating with your ideas. If you just listen to the AI, a person could start to think they are a intellectual master of whatever they are doing. So, I take all feedback and suggestions from the AI with a grain of salt and think about how it fits with my own logic and reasoning.

I particularly like asking the AIs to explain the logic and reasoning behind a suggestion or recommendation. And asking for references or sources can be very helpful.

And while a lot of what the AIs suggests or recommends are already things I have contemplated or have planned in my design, I have to admit that the AI does raise things that I have not yet considered and some of the suggestions are excellent additions.

AI is a very powerful tool and it is already transforming the work force. I'm kind of glad I am already retired and I can just play with AI for fun.
  8. Here is an organized distillation from the official Visustella thread. The thread has grown to almost a hundred pages and is a nightmare to read through. If you use VS plugins, this is browse friendly highlight notes.

Thanks for giving them a shot! Yes, eventually, there's still dozens of songs not studio-made yet, but I figure I'd release them batch by batch

EDIT: Although, I am more inclined to share them for free
  11. What if I was using AI for in a game - just graphics? Is it wrong? Is it right? Would I get in trouble, or
would it be too easy? I only used it for a title screen, facesets, monster graphics...though to sell the game with the AI, I'm not sure on whether it's alright or not. It is kind of weird...it's like oh just by one click, there it is it's done literally with one click...why was that EASY... ...it is eradicating the purpose of even making images...or ANYTHING...like no wonder my parents don't like it... ...

At least on steam. And in general, most games, if you use graphics sound text or any other assets made by a I.Then, you have to list it as contains generative a I. In this specific community, you will lose about half the audience or more because it contain generative AI. But in the general gaming market, you're probably likely to lose about twenty percent ,But you may pick some up because your art is better because of it. Ultimately, it is your choice, but you do need to disclose it on some platforms, When you post it like itch.io or steam

Whether it's the root of all evil or whether it's mankind's new overlord is ultimately up to you to decide.

Should you become an "AI Bro" though you just need to be prepared for a certain sector of the Internet who will hound you for the rest of your online existence. I suggest you keep your AI preferences to yourself for the time being as outing your "allegiance" will make you enemies of the fanatics on either extreme of the AI debate spectrum.

If you're curious about games that have declared extensive use of AI that are more than just "one click" projects below are examples:
    CODEX MORTIS
    AI Roguelite
    Where Winds Meet

Edit: Thanks to @JohnDoeGames for clarifications below regarding the complexities of laws about AI.
  14. That depends... in EU it is allowed, in US it is still a question. And generated graphic can contain IP material. Like generating an image of Mickey Mouse is still copyrighted.
  15. Alright, though that sounds not good... it was only just for some 2d pictures that I made 3D...I am "doing" most of the game itself though...piece by piece. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, is AI in laboratories? Google? I wouldn't be making Mickey Mouse AI either, not activities I partake in.

Whatta ya mean certain sector of the internet? The Ad Tech and Data brokers?

I would also imagine AI would turn us into WALL-E like humans... ...we don't wanna be fatties either!!

AI is becoming more frequent. In ten years, half or more of games will utilize AI. Programming support is already becoming more acceptable. The real issue is assets, magnified in communities like this... where artists have spent their lives supporting creating, and scratching ot a meager revenue stream for their services. The other issue is shovelware - junk created quickly with AI to make a quick buck. It displaces attention from real human effort and makes the whole genre and dev group look bad.

That said, Im working on a huge project and have purchased almost 5k worth of assets for it and spent years curating. I intend to use it and commission more. I am using A I to create what I cant get any other way and still get done in 4 to 8 more years - 3 years in already. Im not in it for money, not making junk, and want a product before I kick the bucket.

For many of us, the opportunity cost of our time here is enormous. Insstead of wtiting this reply, I could have made $10 with less effort than finger typing on a mobile. The voice to text is quite poor.
  17. Sounds like a problem...
I mean I have a tablet that I do for my art and all. Though I was doing AI as well...guess I should "figure out" better options. Bc AI just seems like one click, is EASY...there the picture...
    :/ Like really?
  18. @ZENWARECO
Have you looked at the AI-using games published on steam I mentioned above? Have you seen what AI can and cannot do for these games? Have you looked at their reviews? It is up to you to decide whether the reviews are credible or whether you believe game developers will make more use of AI in the future.

The most eloquent post about AI as it pertains to RPG Maker and its community in particular and society in general was made a few months ago by DjBeardo, the head moderator of the RPG Maker subreddit. It sets out his vision going forward for the RPG Maker subreddit and its community.
  19. I took a quick look, the reviews are credible, though some say no AI. I'm 38, I only learned about AI a couple years ago, and boy, it's super weird. I'd say some images are a-ok. I think if I can share a couple things I generated, I would get a better say. I would say generating something obvious like Mickey is not good, then selling it. :/

Though Bohawk would say no too. (I work with Bohawk, he's a golden retreiver)

If I share a couple things I generated, then we can say yes or no.

    Behemoth MV Raging.png

Like that is AI, I could do that, but dag, that's pretty good. It's weird. I like to see what AI comes up with but then it's like well, I have to be better now don't I?
