Based on the feedback about high Encounter Rate, I wanna share one more thing about it that should be contained in the next update. What do you think of altering the Global Encounter Rate in Options? Of course, it will not have a 0%. The lowest should stay at 50% :stickytongue:
As long as it can be adjusted during gameplay (like the game difficulty), I think it's a great idea. Turn it up when you need to grind or get materials/gold and turn it down when you just want to get somewhere else.

Sure. It can be adjusted during gameplay, just like difficulty. Currently, the lowest is 50%, while the highest is 200%. I also increased the steps for Encounter Half/None potions by 100 each. If you drink that Encounter Half potion and set the rate to 50%, it will be down by an extra 50%, resulting in 25%.
  3. Dev's update: Here is a glance at the WIP Serenus Town. Honestly, I still don't know what I should put in there aside from the places for the main story  Still trying to make it a bit more mysterious, but this will take a while to complete. I will also fix some minor bugs that were reported before at this time.

  4. Dev's update: Just a little bit more of decorations, and I think we are good to go for the story. I'm truly busy these days, so the work is quite slow. Still, I'm trying to figure out how I should create a mysterious vibe in here

Also, I bet you can guess where Professor Balthazar is living, right? :stickytongue:

  5. Dev's update: Serenus Town is now ready. Despite its calm and peaceful vibe, a long-buried truth lies beneath. And now, it's time for someone to return and settle it.

For those who have played through the game before, I think you can guess who is mentioned here :stickytongue: I have been starting to set things up bit by bit, and it's not gonna be done soon :frown:

at the mini house from the center down ^^

Joking aside, in the top, but the town looks nice.
  7. Dev's update: The story in Serenus Town continues. And it is time to meet Professor Balthazar, who is called "Grandmaster of Magic". Let's see what guidance he shall give our heroes.

P/s: I'm still working on creating new interior maps for Professor Balthazar's Arcane Academy. As you can see, there are several robots around his academy. They are called "Animata", which is his proud product combining both magic and technology into one. They can act like humans and can even be used as guards in this town.
  8. One more thing: I heard ChatGPT has a new image generation feature, so I wanted to try it out and asked it if it could redesign the game title (based on my own design). And these are two out of several results that looked okay. What do you think? Should I keep my own design, or go with one of these two new designs? Actually, there is something I feel odd about its redesign

  9. out of the 2 redesigns, the first one look better, but your own is also really good.

if you truly want the tree type of the GPT design, I could try to add it with
your current font as I did some text effect, so you can also keep your own style.

but if I had to choose between all (AI or not), I would still go for the original one
    as personal choice.

Thanks for your opinion. I also feel odd about the AI's design. I will stick with my original one for now. Gotta continue with what's left above first
  11. Dev's update: This is Professor Balthazar's office, where we will have a talk with him about how the Dimensional Cracks work, and how to get there. And soon enough, the mystery of this place will be revealed.

P/s: I have a question for you guys about the saving process. As you experienced the early access builds, you already noticed that you could save the game anywhere you want via the Menu. However, this is only available in Early Access build. I planned to remove it and let players save the game only when interacting with the Savior Crystals in certain places, as I was inspired by the old Final Fantasy games (7, 8, 9, 10), or provide a special consumable that lets players save anywhere at some cost. What do you think about that?

Also, I am thinking of adding some short tips to the Saving/Loading screen. Do you think it is necessary? Wanna ask because the Saving/Loading screen only appears for about a second, and players will not see that screen much.
  12. I am usually not a fan of games where you can only save at certain points. First, because I am a definite save spammer, but, second, because sometimes RL just forces you to leave the game and that's frustrating when you don't know when you'll be able to save next. However, the save/transfer crystals are readily available in this game. There's one in every town and at least one in every outside area. I wouldn't mind at all if you took the menu option away. And having that consumable save item as a backup, yeah, I wouldn't see no menu save as a detriment at all.

As for the tips, depends upon what kind of tips I guess. For me, as the game progresses, the saving screen takes longer and longer, so having something to read might make that 10-15 second wait a little more entertaining... and maybe helpful.

Thanks for your opinion. The Savior Crystals in every town are intended from the beginning, as they are the "certain places" I mentioned. I know how frustrated and desperate to find a Save location when you are in a rush (happened to me when I played FF before). That's why Crystals are placed in every town and every dungeon to get rid of that frustration. I guess I will stick with this plan to remove Save option in the menu later and provide a special consumable to save anywhere upon usage

And sorry for the slow update. I don't have much free time these days, so the development progress is quite slow. I'm trying to bring a memorable event to this town, as it might be the last one in the story :frown:

Major tip => leave game open ^^
some games have "save items" that lose the item like
Summon Night Sword Story for example.

if you aren't that deep yet, you shouldn't bother to much => as I could always save ^^

You can stay where they are, just create save items, let the player start with 5 free ones
and paid at shops to get more :)

you get enough gold to afford them anyway (also cleaner and option to buy them or not).
  15. Dev's update: Along with Professor Balthazar, let's meet up with Doctor Niveus, a talented scientist from Serenus Town (though he looks a bit weird with that white suit). After the talk with Professor, we will have a chance to explore Doctor Niveus' laboratory and his other finest creations.

Currently, the story continues at Doctor Niveus' lab (I'm currently working on the design). There will be some new equipment for crafting later. I've been thinking of making a new build, but it will not provide much more content than the previous one, except for Serenus Town and some story conversations :frown:

  16. Dev's update: Here is our next Boss battle. This time, the boss is a bit more special. It is no monsters, no demons, but just a machine. This fierce battle will happen inside Doctor Niveus' laboratory.

P/s: Just got into a traffic accident yesterday with some serious injuries, so I will take some days off before getting back to my work here o_O
  17. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about that accident. Hopefully everything will heal in time. Sending warm thoughts and wishes. <3

as long your brain is in the right space, take it easy, and heal up.

Tip: use bandage + potion :D
  19. Dev's update: Back to work now. I have finished my work for the latest boss. A little hint is that this one has a new, annoying ability, which summons aiding drones. Leaving those drones alive will let you pay a heavy price
The next work is to design Doctor Niveus' Lab, and the event around it. Another truth is very close to be discovered here.

  20. Dev's update: Here is a glance at how Doctor Niveus' lab looks. He has a big reactor in the middle to generate power for the whole lab. The fuel for it? Maybe some "unstable energy", if it sounds familiar to you

Also, several new Reinforcement Crystals with interesting effects will ease the battle, though I think the party is too strong by this time anyway
