  1. Dev's update: The design for Doctor Niveus' Lab is finally done. I'm now working on the event inside here, along with the boss shown above.

Also, there will be a huge change to how the Reinforcement Crystals work. The stacking logic for Crystal effects will now be handled much more effectively. If the effects of multiple crystals are in the same category, the one with the highest priority (usually the highest rarity) takes effect. But sometimes, the same effect can still be stacked across different rarities.

One more piece of good news about this is the Damage Block effect in Crystals (Like Heartstone, which provides +25 Block Value, but does not stack). Most of them will be fully stacked now, even if you equip multiple of the same crystals that provide Damage Block, or even across rarities.

This change has taken up a lot of my time, so the release of the next build must wait. I need to review it to make sure it works as intended. Truly sorry for this inconvenience, but please bear with me :frown:
  2. Some additional notes for the Reinforcement Crystals are:
    - I'm also reworking the Lifesteal crystals to make them stack, same for the crystals providing bonus gold. CRIT DMG is considered atm. Not sure if this is a good idea. I would love to hear your opinion about this @Lady_JJ and @ShadowDragon
    - Players might not notice the changes from their perspective, because the core effects of the script are untouched, only the way they stack or unstack. However, some equipped ones might need to be detached and reattached
    - All the crystals (around 150+) will need to be reviewed, so it will take lots of time to update them properly

This is one of the works I have wanted to do for so long, but I only figured out a way to do it just now.
  3. I didn't pay attention to much on my run for those crystals, so don't worry.

just make them how you see fit, and if it works more on the balance.

Actually, I'm not sure if this will balance it better, or boost the party's power even more o_O But reworking the Lifesteal system allows me to have another effect to negate the Lifesteal ability too, so I think it would still be a good way to do. Just wonder if it would give overwhelming power to the party
  5. Update: Just heard about the news of forums closure. I will try to move my topic to that "new" address they give us (though it looks terrible). Will also return to update the progress on my Facebook page too. Truly want to thank everyone who have been following my project here on this forums. Hope we will meet again in that "new" one RPG Maker Guild (it looks terrible tbh)
  6. Hello Ryan,

So, I've been following this thread and watched the playthrough streams. From what I see, there are good things and bad things.

    Good:
    - You are continuing the next part of the story. Seems like you already have the story planned out properly. You only have to get to the end.
    - Some polishing, changes, game balancing, etc. here and there. You've been getting a lot of valuable feedback, and the people who played you game genuinely enjoyed it.

    Bad:
    - Many of the issues I encountered and informed you 5 years ago have not been fixed at all. If you stick with random encounter, that's fine, but the encounter rate is still very high, evident from the streams I've seen.
    - I remember seeing one battle in which all the enemies attacked first, inflicting status ailments on the whole party. The streamer bailed immediately.
    - The glitch that makes certain character(s) unable to attack is still there.
    - Excessive tutorials, too wordy explanations. Hope you have scaled these back enough. I get that you want these tutorials to be immersive, by letting Morrigan walk the players through, but the best tutorials are the ones that are brief and still easy to understand.
    - Skills missing too often. I get that this encourages the players to put in stat points to increase the hit rate, but this also causes a lot of frustration at the beginning of the game.
    - Skill description: some are just... too complex, overcomplicated.
    - Some random encounters take too long to get through.
    - I remember scratching my head at the difficulty spike in boss battles, starting at the mine. Apparently they are still very challenging. I don't know how much balancing has been done since then, though.
    - The sneak in sequence at the mansion makes no sense at all, and can throw the players off immersion.

    Couple of other things:
    - Plati is clearly being sold as a child slave. The game, however, refers to her as a "servant". Why? "Anti-servant" is not something that makes sense.
    - Morrigan is unnecessarily stupid. She is supposed to be the leader of the Eclipse, but she does not seem to have the brain or charm to lead a group at all. She's more like a figurehead leader, and that the real one running the show in the background is Lilith, and maybe Harley. I don't know if this is your intention or not.
    - For example: when Blanc mentions that Plati is her sister after their first fight, it should be very obvious that Blanc was just trying to save Plati. Instead of asking Blanc who her sister is, Morrigan continues to gloat about beating her. Lilith then treats Morrigan like a complete idiot, instead of a leader, or a close friend. The way they talk to each other, at some points, do not reflect the fact that they are supposed to be friends at all.
    - Morrigan and Lilith. Are you a fan of Darkstalkers, by any chance?
    - Is there an RPG Maker community in Vietnam at all? Have you been getting feedback from other Vietnamese players? Are there Vietnamese streamers or Youtubers who play RPG Maker games?

I'm so glad that you remember this game. And truly sorry if I could not remember exactly when you tried it, but it seems to be a long time ago, since you mentioned some issues 5 years ago. Some of them have been fixed, but some still remains due to not in high priority. I'm trying to finish the whole storyline first before getting into the polishing phase and other designs for side activities. Some issues I could not even reproduce so I could not have an insight of how they went wrong to fix.

But on the latest build, most of the feedback are addressed and improved, especially the tutorials. The balance is still on the way (this is not an easy part for me), but what I have been working on this time is to boost the party's power. However, because of not receiving much data from players (I only got from 3 to 4 actually), the process to improve balance is not quite efficient at the moment. I will keep addressing leftover issues and balance of the game, along with the storyline if possible. I will be very grateful if you try the current build to see if some of the issues you mentioned are fixes, and if there are any leftover ones.

And about the issues with the story you mentioned, those parts were built long ago, and at that time my vision might not match with my current one. I will review them later to improve if needed, because at first, I wanted to build Morrigan to be a care-free person who liked to joke a lot if she knew she had the upper hand. So most of the time when she acted a bit "stupid", that was her intention when she already knew she could easily handle the situation. I will try to improve some parts where she acts/talks too stupid later haha. But you guessed it right that the ones running the business in the back most of the time are intentionally Lilith and Harley, while Morrigan is the co-founder, but also the one who executes the contracts and solves problems of the group by herself, because she is not the type who likes sitting in the back. Btw, the characters' names were all randomly set because I thought they were cool, so sorry to disappoint you but I do not know anything about Darkstalkers xD

And unfortunately, there was only one person from my country played and gave me some feedback. I tried to put the game to some community, but it did not seem to get enough interests from people.

And it is so sad that we will no longer be able to talk in here soon, so please move to the RPG Maker guild. I posted the link on my above reply.
  8. No, I will not be on the guild forum. If you are going to post your game in other RPG Maker sites, we'll run into each other eventually. I also have your Youtube account.

A shame that you couldn't find any Vietnamese gamers to play your game. It would definitely receive attention back in the late 2000s or early 2010s.

Well, I think you have received enough feedback at this point. I don't know if Studio Blue or Driftwood is still accepting requests. After you have polished your game more, maybe try asking them for feedback. Looking forward to your finished project. Are you near the end?
