    #13

    Introduction

Weekly Art Challenge is a recurring event for the Art, Literature and Music forum wherein there is a new challenge for artists every week. The goal of the event is to encourage art and going outside the box by imposing interesting challenges and limitations. After a week, a poll will be up for everyone to vote to select the best entry. The winner with the most votes will receive a pretty little badge for bragging rights.

Also, please be sure to check out the previous challenge's thread.

    Rules

    • A new challenge/theme will be posted up in a new thread every week.
    • Participants are to follow the rules imposed by the challenge/theme. Any questions may be asked. However, I reserve the right to disqualify any entries that I feel do not meet the criterion.
    • A challenge lasts for approximately a week. Deadline for all Weekly Challenges is strictly at 12:00AM, GMT +0, on Monday.
    • On the week after, a poll will be up in the same thread. Only one entry will win. In the case where there are more than one winning entry with equal votes, all winning entries will be rewarded.
    • Poll for voting will be available from the submission deadline to Saturday, when the winner will be announced.
    • The winner gets to call the theme/challenge for the following week. If the winner does not wish to do so, then I will come up with one.
    • All forms of art are welcome.
    • No need to register. Just start working on your entry right away if you've decided to participate.
    • Post your entries in this thread. WIPs are encouraged, but please explicitly specify your final submission.
    • There is absolutely no measurements coming from us on the completion of a piece. Whether a piece is complete for final submission or not, is entirely your own call. So don't be discouraged if you think you can only afford to doodle a couple lines. Anything is fine.
    • Entries must be done completely from scratch by their respective participants. This means no pre-existing stock materials are allowed, regardless of the degree to which they have been altered. Whoever is caught intentionally violating this rule will be subject to the punishment stated in our Forum Rules regarding Credit Theft.
    • Entries must be done within the week after the challenge has been issued. No previously done work is allowed. Entries violating this rule may be automatically disqualified without prior notice.

    • Poll for voting will be available from the submission deadline to Saturday, March 29th, 2014.
    • Any questions may be asked here.
    • All forms of art are welcome.
    • Post your entries in this thread. WIPs are encouraged, but please explicitly specify your final submission.

  2. Can the armor be worn by someone?

Sure thing. Anything is fine so long as you think your entry portrays what you want it to.
  4. Ooo, I'm really looking forward to this topic!
  5. Did someone say Armor?! Click for full view or something.

I have a story for this but never had the chance to scribble it down. So I did today. XD

  6. The story is basically he uses that transformed armor to scare kitty cats and feast on their tears.
  7. Archeia, I'm slightly disappointed in you. No Ralphina "armor"? I had my hopes up when I opened the spoiler, but those hopes were dashed afterward. I'm not saying it's bad (it's epic and awesome and puts my kindergarten drawings to shame), it's just...so much wasted potential for humor...Ah, well. It's probably for the best, right?

  8. To be fair, humor was definitely not in my list when I decided to draw that. haha

    I was actually feeling pretty dark and evil and just placed him under rigorous torture to attain that form. <_<;

also I actually hate genderbending. So I don't really want to make a Ralphina...ever.
  9. Man, armor is one thing I cannot draw well. I can barely draw clothing most of the time. I guess I should at least try! :D
  10. Hmmm.... I wonder what armor would sound like... This is for visual, words and/or music, right?

Now I'm wondering, too. I almost forgot that I compose music for second. o_o

My brain immediately went to the visual.
  12. do we need to show the progress/one by one how its made?

I may even work on the edited sprites and the demon's armor depending on how work treats me this week.

I envy your grasp of hands, Palladin,

Question: Does the armour have to be for a humanoid?

Wow dude. You're way good! This looks it might be of professional quality. :)

Aaaaalright! This is barebones and pretty raw, but I'm likin' where this is going so far. Tropical Island meets battle armor. This is a WIP.

    Here's my WIP. Enjoy! :)
  16. Not sure how fair it is to have a ton of work that you already did years ago to pull from. :/ Some of us have jobs you know.  OK, so here is my attempt. I'm actually more impressed with the metal gradient I did. This is literally the best example of metal shading I have ever done.

    My "Armor of Light"

CAUTION: may have been cursed by previous owner.

  19. Design, yay!

Only have a WIP for now, but before I forget everything again, I just post it.

    Spoiler
This is how I usually work. First, get a bunch of ideas out of my head, only rough shapes, no details, only a few colours. Next step would be choosing 2-3 of these and scribble front and back views, and finalize one of them. Hopefully, I'll get enough time for that. *sets time traps*

She's supposed to be agile and discreet (but no assassin/thief class-wise), so mostly leather and cloth for now. Need to somehow manage to convey the lightness of the cloth, since she's living in a renaissance Italy-inspired setting with rather warm climate. Don't want the poor girl to melt while working.

Looking at what everyone posted so far... I am SO glad you can vote for more than one entry. <3

    Edit: Another WIP.

    Spoiler
Step 2: Took 1, 5 and 6 and scribbled over them + made rough back views with almost no regard for details. Exchanged 5's and 6's legs. Those stripes were a bit too much. Now which to finalize... Maybe I'll just mix and match.
