I don't know. You'll have to check yourself.
It shouldn't affect pictures since this affects tilemap only.

Well, I tried, and it seems that you have to use Tiled for all of your maps for it to work, or else it crashes the game.
-
Well, yes you have to. It affects tile grid after all.

Hello,
Thank you for this beautiful script
When I test I get this error message, an idea?
TypeError
Cannot read property 'split' of undefined -
Oh...My...God... (Becky? >_> )
Thank you so much for this!
I love TileD!
I love you!
I... think I have a nosebleed...
No worries though, I'll be alrigltkjlagkdfjas.dfk.,m ...... -
Since Nessy and Yami are busy as always if be glad to help out as well if you need any help with the plugin feel free to pm me as well!
I'll be getting up an actual video for this in a couple days due to computer problems. -
Looks awesome, but I don't follow some of the instructions. Any chance of a video for as simple map from start to finish, showing each of those steps?
-
It would be nice to include this topic: Introductory Guide to Tiled within the first post just for those who are wanting to use this but don't fully understand the program.
This was a great idea and I'm so pleased that this sort of thing is being done, it really helps to make this engine even more flexible. -
It's a bit confusing at first but once you get used to it it's great. Uploading a older video we were going to put on RPG Maker Channel but never appeared right now! It doesn't have some of the newest features but it should get you started.Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaRK9AB_dJE here's the video its a bit long so just speed it up!Looks awesome, but I don't follow some of the instructions. Any chance of a video for as simple map from start to finish, showing each of those steps?

Thank you :) Are there many differences between that and the instructions in the OP?
I'd like to be able to map at 16x16, but still keep the collisions at 32x32. That's something I can look at changing myself though, once I get into it. -
The video is still working for the functions it shows all that was added after was things farther down in the list like the arrow passability and parallax mapping. Also I'll look into the collision stuff in a little bit I forget if you can.Thank you :) Are there many differences between that and the instructions in the OP?I'd like to be able to map at 16x16, but still keep the collisions at 32x32. I'm getting
"Uncaught Error: [YED#Tilemap] Loading Error"
??
Have Map001.json in the maps folder at base, have the tilesets in the img/tilesets folder, have only this plugin turned on. No idea... halp?
it was ortho and csv, exported as json for the tiled file as well. -
Please check the filename example we had on the screenshot. It's map1.json
Don't add 001. -
Thank you. The match ID thingy confused me. Works appreciate it.Please check the filename example we had on the screenshot. It's map1.json
Don't add 001.
** edit **
How do you link to other maps/load new maps? In the events, it doesn't show these and the IDs are preset. I'm quite new to rm, so please excuse the dumb questions. Is this something that has to be done in TileD? I've been searching but can't seem to find anything for rm or tiled. -
Just do it normally in RM. All eventing is done in RM but you just need to specify their coordinates.
Or in image fashion
FIRST HIGHLIGHT THE TILE WHERE YOU WOULD WANT THE TRANSFER EVENT TO HAPPEN:

MAKE A COMMENT IN YOUR EVENT LIKE THIS:

That's how you do it :) -
Thank you. :)
** I got it, was just doing it wrong.
It also seems my x,y are off. I put a comment in the events, under database>common events>0001. Hopefully that was the right spot but no idea. The level is fine, but the event I plopped down is way off.
Hopefully these simple questions will help someone else too, otherwise I'd feel stupid. xD
Map size has to match tiled.... yup.... thanks for the help! -
Does it support animated tiles (created using the animation editor)?
-
Hello,
Thank you for this beautiful script
When I test I get this error message, an idea?
TypeError
Cannot read property 'split' of undefined -
No I don't have any idea. You have to tell me what you exactly did. How did you test? Do you have any other plugins? Did you test it first in an empty project? Etc.
Does it support animated tiles (created using the animation editor)?
We contemplated on this but decided to just use parallaxes/pictures for that. Since as of now, Animated tiles in TileD is confusing. -
This seems awesome (and I am sure it is!), but I am confused as to exactly what this will do for me, personally. I have a lot of questions and I tend to write long posts so bear with me because I need some answers.
Q.1 From what I understand this is better (in every possible way) if you compare to mapping in MV's built in map editor. Only drawback seems to be that you won't have your map visual inside of RM so placing events etc will be a little bit more work since you probably need to toggle between MV and TileD to make sure you place them in the right place. Hence it wouldn't be as fast. Correct?
Q.2 Now what I really want to know is how this compare to parallax mapping in GIMP (which is what I prefer at the moment). What are the pro's and con's to traditional parallax mapping with overlays? If I understand this right, this will be used instead of the tilesets layers so I suppose I could still use GIMP to make lightning, fog, extra overlays etc? Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to do that?
For example, would the ground layer mapped in TileD and exported as a JSON take much less space than a the ground layer made in GIMP and exported as a PNG would?
Q.3 I know of TileD but I have never really used it myself. from what I understand it is a map editor that works similar to the one in MV but you'll have as many layers as you want. Is it also possible to place tiles outside of the grid (the way you can while parallaxing) or would I have to stick to the grid?
I also like to use brushes and such to paint on top of my tiles (finishing touches!). Is there anyway to do this if I lay out the basics in TileD?
Q.4 Lastly, it says that you can set your own collision to whatever you want. But would this really make any difference if you'r not using a pixel movement plugin? I mean even if the collision is set to 16x16 the standard movement in MV will still be 48x48 snap to grid and I suppose that you can't move any space that have a collision (even if it only takes up 1/4 of the square). I might have misunderstood this completely but I can't understand how this would be useful if it works as I think it does? Please do explain. :distrust:
Also, it would be super awesome if someone who understands this plugin and know how to use TileD (doesn't have to be Yami or Archeia) makes a detailed tutorial video, explaining stuff for beginners. It might be a lot to ask but I would really appreciate it.
Thanks for reading! :D
