  1. I guess it does help to know what the circumstances are for this character. I think the newer image captures the emotional situation pretty well. Getting these perspectives still help, though.
  2. Ok, first time posting on one of these threads, I've been making several variations of a sci-fi tile for VX Ace (inspired by something in SW KotOR) and... I can't decide what's good... I somewhat like elements of them all and yet feel that something's missing.
    Pictures
    Here's the pattern by itself.

Here's how they might look like when finished and used in RM
(texture taken from some Enterbrain stuff that I've edited)

Some of my thoughts would be to darken (or deepen) the grooves. As well as perhaps adding a shine to the edges of the raised portion.
  3. @Nenen

You're reminding me that I have an experiment in mind for some sci-fi tiles of my own.

As far as input from me, it's hard to tell how they are functioning without wall tiles and such to see them working in an environment. As they are, I think I'm keener on the thick circles, because it breaks up the usual blockiness of tiles the most.
  4. @Nenen, I'm wid @ericv00 on this one, gotta see how it plays with other tiles! Any chance you could whip up a prototype, show us how it works with walls and stuff? Usually I prefer having wall tiles that are kinda subdued, to make objects and people stand out more, so on reflex gonna say no to darkening the grooves, but would hafta see the prototype to be sure... :kaoswt:

EDIT: I meant, subdued floor tiles. Fingers faster than brain! :kaoswt2:
  5. Sorry for the long wait guys! I've got tons of excuses/reasons for it, but instead of wasting anymore time...

I did have a hard time figuring out what other tiles to use, but now I decided to just bite the bullet and show some of the other stuff I've been working on as well... (They're unfinished, so I do know some of their flaws, but would appreciate any suggestions & criticisms!)
    The Screengrab
    NVM the cat.

  6. @Nenen

Very nice! I think I like the the tile directly under the character best, though, perhaps, maybe with a little less contrast between the shades of gray, but that's an excessively small nitpick. I'm second-guessing myself even as I say it. Looks great and I really like the subtle texture.

I would assume (and encourage this) that you plan to use a few of these floor tiles to accentuate hallways and important areas. In my head, I can see a long main hallway with smaller halls extending out to the sides, lighter gray tiles in the center of the main hallway, and darker gray lining the sides and the smaller halls. Dunno. Just a thought.
  7. @Nenen, errything looks good! Imma mostly agree with @ericv00 aaaand also, honestly, your tiles look similar enough that you cud pick any one and it'd be good! :kaoswt:

One thing tho... I'd maybe pick the tile in the centre immediately south of the cat (?). The one between the two tables? 'Cuz, that tile looks good even as a single tile, y'know? Some of the other tiles, like the one in top left, they look kinda funny as a single tile 'cuz the circular pattern is broken up. But anyway, just pick one, they're mostly all good! :kaoluv:
  8. Channeling DAD ENERGY for another character portrait.

I'm in the odd state of liking it too much to start over, but too bogged down in fixing things pixel by pixel to make timely progress.
  9. @ericv00, he looks like he wuz in a boy band 'fore he turned to dad business. :wub I don't mind him at all, I hope he gets a gratuitous shirtless scene!
  10. @ericv00 Omg that hair looks amazing!!!
  11. @ericv00 The only criticism I have is that the picture overall looks blurry (edit: in a pixelated sort of way), though that problem disappears when viewing the image from more of a distance.

On a smaller scale it is fixed:

Oh yeah, that was a screen grab that was zoomed in. I made a few lines after the screen grab that makes the resolution look wonky. In game, it is a quarter of the size.

    @ts50 Yeah, exactly.
  14. Ok, now I'm having trouble with this anthromorphic Bear sprite...

Specifically the sideway heads. I'm not very happy with how they look.

EDIT: Somebody on discord suggested to move the ears together and make the nose/snout stick out more.
  15. @Nenen I don't know if you are still working on this, but depending on the overall style you might step more away from the mack-xp-bear-inspired head and go down a more cartoony road.
By turning the head more sideways and getting rid of some of the shadows the features become more readable, right now the eyes get lost in the shadows a little (right is my edit):

    renewed one
  19. I've been working on this magical hoe for my little farming game... I like the way it finally turned out, but I am really not too sure about the 'head' or 'connecting junction' of the hoe's blade itself. It just seems a bit too "fat" for a hoe. Any feedback on the matter would be appreciated~

below you will find two images, one is a tiny image so you can see what the hoe would look like as an example as a tiny icon; then there's the second image which is a large zoomed in image of the hoe, so you can see the connecting junction of the hoe and the handle. I don't know... maybe it looks okay for being thrown together in less than 1 hour? Maybe I'm just over thinking it? What's everyone's thoughts on the matter please? ^u^

(Oh yeah... I guess I'm supposed to say 'Not allowed to copy/steal/blah, blah, blah. Just ask permission first, y'all... probably going to share the final product with you anyway for free. So just be patient.) ;P

  20. I would definitely make the head shorter (if I had any of your talent :LZSwink:). The connecting part is fine in my opinion, but the head resembles a scythe more than a hoe (compared to the length of the handle), so if you're going for realism, that's a change to make.
