  1. btw, is it really needed to install the font? coz on my experience, as long as I have it inside the fonts folder, it seems to work fine...

though of course adding it to my windows font folder has pros too, as I'd be able to use that font for other programs like MS word etc...
  2. Our game does require that you install the font to your fonts folder manually if you want it to display in game... unless there is something I'm missing all together.... Does RPG Maker read from a "fonts" folder in the game directory? If so, all I'll need to do is change the folder name from "font" to "fonts." I'll kick myself if that's the case XD
  3. the folder is named Fonts (that's what is on my project folder)...

VL gothic (the default font) works because its part of the RTP... my comp doesn't have it installed...

I also already tried this with my bro's laptop which doesn't have the RTP (so I compressed the game including the RTP, after then you'll find the font inside the Fonts folder), and it worked just fine...

This is also the case for YANTH (you are not the hero), which ships the VL Gothic font together with the game (coz they removed the need for the RTP [it doesn't check the RTP anymore])
  4. hmm.... I don't know if I changed that or not but.... I would assume that it needs to be installed to the computer, if that changes I'll make adjustments. lol Again, the font is not required to play the game but the font does look better with the style of the game.  I'm not sure if things words will be cut off or not, that is a possibility but I did make sure that the new font was close in size to the default font so that that was less likely to happen. :D
  5. this comp also has no VL gothic font installed, and I tried playing YANTH (which has VL Gothic in its Fonts folder), and it seems to work fine...

btw, on the install instruction, you can say that:

You can also just double click the font, and hit install...

I can't try the no install right now for your demo though, because this comp doesn't have the RTP...

but of course if you have an extra comp that don't have the font installed, you can try it out yourself... put the font in this directory (GameFolder\Fonts\)
  6. Ahhh stink. I should make the game playable without the RTP. I'll have to take my time and do that one of these days. I'll see if I can try that lol.
  7. If ur planning to do that, better start early... It might be more tedious to do when you already have lots of info at the database, coz it will then be a pain to determine which stuff you use from the RTP and which isn't...

the only tedious part after all is the importing of the RTP resources that you need since the actual disabling of the RTP requirement is just a quick notepad edit...
  8. Good lord.... It works... how did I not know this?! Lol >.>
Just needs to be in a "fonts" folder.

    *kicks self*

    Lesson learned... moving on. XD
  9. Nice... so now this matter is cleared... :)
  10. Aren't you glad I asked? Haha. I knew it worked for mine, but other people seemed to think it didn't work for them, so I wanted to make sure.
  11. ^ maybe they forgot the "s"...

btw, I also asked him directly in this thread... XD

  12. *face palm*...."other people"....yup.... that's me! XD

I am glad though! Thanks seita and adiktuzmiko!
  13. I look forward to the no RTP required demo... it's easier to play since we don't need to have the RTP installed [meaning we can play if we're on other comps] plus it has lower file size as compared to including the RTP into the compressed file (assuming you don't use all of those RTP resources)
  14. Y_Y I'm still not finished downloading the previous one... hahahahahahaha

EDIT: I like the intro clip...
  15. Yay. That means your are playing the game now! :D
  16. Hey everyone,

I have a question to everyone, whether you have played the game of not.  How do you guys feel about getting a skill once and it being balance off your stats that scale up as you level verse getting multiple levels of a skill I.E. Ice 1, Ice 2, ect.  Drass and I were having a discussion about this very concept.

The way I imagined the skill system being when we first started was you would get enough Core abilities early in the (Lvl 1-15) that you could play the game effectively and have enough interesting skills to play with so it wasnt boring early game and as the levels get higher you'd get new skills less often maybe ever 4-6 levels or so.  But originally we had a subclass system we were going to unlock around lvl 30ish. We have since scrapped the subclass idea and so I am left with alot of extra levels.  I still have plenty of ideas for more abilities but at what point does adding more abilies make the game just more complex?

Currently all classes have 6-7 abilities (not including basic attack and guard) by level 14  and I feel that this number allows enough diversity to make combat enjoyable and not overly spamy, (using the same ability over and over again.)  but over the course of the next 35-40 levels you'd get another 6-8 skills if I slow it down to a new ability ever 5 or 6 levels.  Does 12-15 abilities at max level seem like to many?  If so, would making less different skills and just creating a new tier (ice 1, ice 2, ect) of them make more sense?

I am really curious to know what you guys think.  Please let me know.

Thanks again for all the feed back.
  17. Keep the different skills idea. Multiple skills that have more effect (Ice that freezes but deals less damage), ranges (Like a Mass "Ice" spell effecting all enemies, or perhaps a few at 40-60% the damage), & so on are more preferable over getting a skill like "Ice" that will in turn be more obsolete to something like "Ice 2", most likely having only more attack power - as you treck further into the game.

I was only able to actually view it and play until I can save coz I tried it out in the office... hahahahaha
  19. A new tier could get annoying, just increase damage calculation. With skills have as many as you want you can never have enough skills just make them unique
