This seems really fun, looking forward to see what everyone comes up with.
I do have a question: my Hawktober idea actually fits the theme of this jam pretty well. I haven't done any in engine work yet, only brainstorming and making these front frames of the characters. Would I be allowed to submit my Hawktober entry to this jam? Or would it need to be something completely new?

Hmm. I call counsel! @hiddenone @TRIDIUM
In general, submitting a game to multiple jams is not excluded (that’s kinda common even) so long as each rule set is met. Brainstorming isn’t an issue. It’s October soon, people are thinking about Halloween, lol. The only kinda “hmm” is whether pre-making some custom assets tips it.
Though, not having created any sort of project file is the other half of “hmm…?” SO I’m curious if hiddenone and TRIDIUM have some input.
I think I’m mostly fine if the project file does not exist yet. After all, if it’s October…I’m probably making seasonal resources anyway? Counsel!! -
As long as in engine work hasn’t started I think it’s fine. The point of the game jam is to have fun making a game in a month, so I hope everyone will stick to the spirit of it even if they want to enter multiple jams.

I don't have any issue with it.
Thanks for getting the thread up! Have fun ya'll! -

Good luck to those. -
Oooo, there's some spooky DLC I bought last year that I've only dabbled in, seems like a good time to use it!
Would plugins, such as Yanfly's, fall under community resources? -
Yes. @Halloween-Jester
Resources made by a community member is allowed so long as they have commercial usage allowed. -
There's no reason to try to put some classifying label on them - they are resources made available that you have a license to use.Would plugins, such as Yanfly's, fall under community resources?
(assuming you're either using the free ones or purchased the paid ones) -
How’s this?

A fancy badge is tempting :LZSexcite:
If I manage to find a team and just contribute to only the audio part of it, am I also eligible to get the participation badge? Provided the team submits for the game jam at the end. -
@Dunkirk Post #4 already said that team entries are permitted, so I don't know why they would try to exclude some team members from getting the participation badge (or what criteria they would use).
-
@ATT_Turan
Thankie, I have read that and understood that team participation is allowed, but I was asking specifically because my contribution is limited to just one aspect (the audio). I’m not sure if contributing to just one part of the project would still count towards the participation badge, and I wanted to make sure before assuming. -
is it ok to use someone like slenderman? kinda miss that guyView attachment 318907

October is a great month. Fight me in the comments.
Not only does Halloween happen in October, the bugs start to die…at least in the Northern Hemisphere.

The prompt is “haunted building.” The goal for this jam is to create a compact, atmospheric, and of course spooky~ game centered around a haunted building within a month.
It could be the classic haunted house, but try and get creative! What places scare you the most?

What does “spooky” even mean? Think eerie, mysterious, strange, uneasy, and supernatural. The art of spookiness is intrigue.
We’d love classic monsters! Ghosts, witches, undead, ghouls, and even cryptids! You name it!
Spooky can often take a lighter or even humorous tone compared to horror, so no need to shy away from whimsy~ if that’s your preference!
- Your project must be 30 minutes or less of gameplay for the average play through.
- Open to any Makers published in the KOMODO store.
- You must have the rights to all materials used.
Gameplay: How fun, balanced, and functional is the game play?
Visuals: How good are the visuals and how well do they contribute to the spooky atmosphere?
Audio: How good is the audio and how well does it contribute to the spooky atmosphere?
Story and Writing: Is the prompt of “haunted building” used well? Creatively? How well does the writing lend to the art of spooky?
Spookiness: Then. Naturally. How spooky~ is the game? How atmospheric is the game and how excited does it make us for Halloween?
