Oh, whoops!
I did that on the first day:MV3: -
What i did do was translate the ATM-LMBS into the CRM-LMBS (Christmas Redux Multishift - Linear Motion Battle System)
-
Nice, you're getting an ABS from meNo i just made the title screen lol
And the entire battle system, i refuse to make a turn based game -
I'm baffled by how many people do a title screen first XD I always do it some time in the middle!
-
oh that's what LMBS stands for. Every time I've seen that, I've just though "Yeah, Left-Mouse Button System, that's what makes the most sense here"What i did do was translate the ATM-LMBS into the CRM-LMBS (Christmas Redux Multishift - Linear Motion Battle System)

Lol, just finished my logo and currently working on title screen as well. What are the odds?
-
Candacis: "you're still all working on your title screens?".
~Casually drops a gameplay screenshot~ -
I mean, as long as your title screen is Christmas related everything inside the game can be anything, right?
right? -
For anyone looking for inspiration... There are plenty christmas stories in the public domain, and not in the last place including Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
Here is a "small" list of books you can freely use to do anything with, including making a game for this competition:
- A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
- Jimsy: The Christmas Kid (1915) by Leona Dalrymple
- The Old Peabody Pew: A Christmas Romance of a Country Church by Kate Douglas Wiggin
- On Christmas Day in the Morning by Grace S. Richmond
- On Christmas Day in the Evening by Grace S. Richmond
- Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray

How are those games going folks? What challenges are you facing? What are you stuck on? Let's support each other through this!

I spent most of my dev time yesterday making one map. Just mapping, I have the events in place and all the whatnot. Never mapped a snow biome before and didn't want it to look boring and baren. Took a few iterations to look good, and by a few I mean lot, lol. In the end I hope I learned something.

Kinda having a bit of challenge making my battles easy & fast to finish but still remain fun at the same time ❤️ But yeah, I wanna see how everyone's progress is as well xD
-
I have three of my seven (playable) maps finished. The parts I'm hung up on are actually the opening and ending scenes! I know everything I want to do with the middle, but the specifics of the start and finish are eluding me.
The other thing that's tripping me a bit is I decided to give the NPCs cute epithets like "Jolly Gentleman" and "Festive Foodie," instead of just labeling them "Man," "Woman," "Bartender," whatever--very quickly realized that that's harder than I thought XD -
I just saw this, there's 12 days to go for me? The only 20 min game i could think of is santa dropping gifts to chimneys, or managing santa's toy factory with elves. Or a simple escape room (detective) where you have to figure out a the gift for all 10 characters in the assembly. maybe who stole the milk and cookies that was left for santa to eat.
-
I haven't done anything beyond the title screen lol
-
I'm having normal Cythera problems - "hey, it would super cool if I added X!" "Oooh, this section could be expanded and made more complex with Y" "...and then A, B, C, but wait! What if I put Z here and L there and..."
But no! Today is my day off, so I'm going to aim to finish this today! At least a bare-bones model. Then I'll have time to do my over-complicate-everything-and-add-things-nobody-asked-for specialty :yswt: -
I think I have a completable build?:kaoswt: The fights are Placeholder City, and it's probably crawlin' with weird bugs, but I can already feel that badge bein' pinned on my breast. :kaopride:

Hmm, yesterday was the first day I really sat down and worked on mine. I have most of the combat I wanted to try with this set up, made the first map, and what haphazard characters I could manage in the character creator. As ever, doing something other than medieval fantasy means the basic art assets are unwieldy, but I'm used to working with that, at least to the point of getting my point across.

I think I miiight finally have a playable build, just needs some more polish and testing. Still not too sure if the average person is gonna be able to beat it under 20 mins yet, but from my own test runs without using easy mode I'm able to beat it in about 7.5 mins (11 if replaying the final boss another time to see both endings), so it's probably doable? Maybe? Idk. Still need to replace that default icon and stuff, too.
