  1. Yeah. I think lyrics would count as part of the arts, since they're technically music related. So instead of finding a topic to put it in, make your own. Like an art thread, but with your lyrics.
@KayZaman They're both very nice. I think with the second one, I like the amount of bass you had (I don't mean the instrument) but I think it is a little repetitive. Try to add some more sounds for some variety.
  2. I think this forum would qualify. I think others have done poetry and lyrics are like poetry. It would be the best place, imo.

I gave your album a listen, and I must say it's very interesting.
The ambience is really nice, it feels tense and overall enjoyable (That last piano song man <3).
You should be careful though, as some songs were clipping at time, so check your mix before exporting your songs.
Also the songs seemed a bit out of place, by that I mean there wasn't any noticeable link between each song (even a crossfade would have done the job, as some songs just stopped instantly).

    But yeah, good work!

Thank you so much for the kind words. It is really appreciated. I'm really glad you enjoyed the overall album, even if you had some problems with the execution of it.

What I actually agree with is that as an overall album, the fading of the tracks was... somewhat non-existent. That's because it was originally meant to be used as a soundtrack for games rather than an album on its own - however, I agree that for the album edition, I could have done a better job at mixing the tracks, that's for sure.

For the clipping, I wonder if it's actually clipping or the way the VSTs behave with each other, especially since I didn't find any particular errors. Was it just minor clipping problems, or could you hear major distortions?

    ----

Speaking of the piano tracks, I decided to do something different. Here's a piano improvisation that was recorded while I was blindfolded. Next time I probably should record a video too, but oh well...

    Hope you're gonna enjoy it!

  4. Hey guys!
I've made a final dungeon theme, because I like endgame parts of JRPG's lol
    Here it is:
Tell me what you think :)
  5. @I_Has_Popcorn's theme (Kyth's Theme) created by me.
  6. This is old. Like, really old but why not lmao.
  7. Game Over

This song is from video game Shadow of the Ninja by Natsume. I love the boss battle theme but I made the arranged.....remade....I donno but it's not 8-bits sounds.[/SPOILER]

Be careful, I'm hearing clipping in the intro. (and the outro too)
The intro is nice, but compared to the chorus it's very flat, I would maybe add some reverb, but more importantly make it more "human" (for example you can mess around with the velocity of your instruments).
The higher drums (shaker/hats at around 1:20) could use some room reverb to make wider.

Very nice track, the drums are awesome (especially the fill at 3:15). IMO it could use some variation though (I know it's not an original song, but you can still take liberties when re-arranging a song)

Not much to critisize on this one. My only gripe is, again, that it's a bit repetitive (and predictable).
Except for the drums, those are on point (are you a drummer?)

I didn't write down the times when it happened, so I'd have to listen to it again to tell you where they are.
But they weren't huge, probably due to your instruments being brickwalled by limiters instead of having their volume turned down.
==> The song "Doctor A. Cula" has this issue throughout the entire song, as you can tell it's barely noticable but still anoying. "Fenrir" also has that problem.

I can barely improv while looking at my keyboard, props to you for doing it blindfoled :p
Really nice song, the quality of the recording is impeccable too!

Those tambourines are way too loud.
As for what the song is meant for, I don't think it really fits (mostly due to the chord progression, tbh it sounds way happier than a dungeon theme).
The melody is nice, but it sounds like you're using harmonisation on your lead, and that makes it clash with some of the chords

Having various instruments panned is nice, but I wouldn't do that for the bass.
    Other than that it's nice!

    Game Over

Okay, so first of: very good! Not much to critisize, but for a Game Over theme, it's very long.
I don't know what your game over screen will look like, but your players will very likely press "continue" in the first 5 seconds, and in this case the first 5 seconds are only the percussion, which is pretty aggressive for a moment that is probably following a stressful situation for the player.
IMO. Don't take my word for it, I'm don't hear game over songs very often (that's how good I am B) /s)
  9. @Tirian Thanks, Tirian. Not all songs are perfect but thanks for feedback. About the drum, no, I'm not a drummer. Garageband is my drummer.

About the second song, yeah, it's repeative. Just like Daft Punk song but like Hex said, need more variation.

And @Tirian , about the first song, here's the original song
    SOTD boss theme
  10. @Tirian - Nice analysis, thanks :)
  11. Main theme song, orchestral theme, appreciate the feedback:

I love the feel of the track and the way you use the texture of different instruments to build to the end (too many orchestral scores I hear have EVERY. SINGLE. SECTION playing almost the whole way through)

The only thing that seems sort of off to me is that particularly the strings don't have very many changes in velocity or articulation (arco to pizzicato to staccato or whatever) and I think that on your climatic chords, having a bit of a swell in and out of the sonority would really bring the color out of them. You use a lot of cool harmonic ideas such as the Zelda like (to me) Ab-Bb-C progression juxtaposed with the more dissonant middle section at 2:45. Great job overall :)

Here are a few recent tracks of mine I've been wanting feedback on. I feel like my mixing isn't really up to scratch when there are lots of instruments in the same frequency range and I'm trying to develop that skillset, so I'd appreciate if anyone could comment on that. Thanks!

Thank you for giving me feedback, I will do the same. :)

    For "Jennifer":
The beat addition at 0:46 or 47, is really unexpected, which is very good. The ambient feel if the piece is spot on, too.
The melody is too quiet, and blends in with the harmony. The fade out section, breaks the song up too quickly, making it seem weird. Good job on "Jennifer".

    For "Los Gatos Nightclub":
Love the Chord Sequence, very techno. The beat (albeit quiet), is amazing. I especially love the changes in dynamic, to which you can only hear the beat sometimes. The only qualms I have, is the chords are too loud for a nightclub setting. The theme would much better suit a futuristic level, as it reminds me of good times. :D
    Great job on this one.
  14. Hi, dream chasers!
Here's one of the 30 plus songs that I've composed and written. This one tho doesn't have lyrics just strumming and humming. However I've a few rearrangements of this song that have lyrics in it. I'll upload them in the future.

Enjoy! Hope you like it. :) And if you do/did, pls like, share and subscribe and let me know of your thought about the song and how I can improve at guitar and singing in the video's comment section, ya.

    Cheers!

    Hey, cool track :)

The chords and melody both have a simple, sort of nostalgic feeling to them and I think it would fit really well as a JRPG town theme or field music.
The only critique I have is that the guitar in the recording is a bit out of tune (a quarter tone sharp of C major, I think, and a little bit wobbly with itself) but the composition is great.

Here's a WIP track I've been working on for the past few days as a boss theme demo. It's built around really just one main motif in both a heavy metal and orchestral sort of context. I'd appreciate any feedback anyone might have :)
  16. @futrchamp - Thats great, maybe make your midis vary velocity a little as the guitars come across less fake that way, this is most evident in the riff at 0.43. I also have an issue where rock instuments seem to sound a little like they are lacking power in the mix using vst's. Drums too have a touch of the same issue especially the machine gun kick. The song is great though, the combination of instuments is great and the riff reminds me of Petrucci/Dream Theater albeit a little modern/djenty.

Here's my latest creation if it can be called that. I metalled up some traditional irish music because I'm just getting back into composing and orchestration.
  17. Nightmare theme, for a personal character of mine.

  18. @Wonderfull Darkness Where am I?! Haunted house? Graveyard?! :kaodes:
@padr81 Argh! I wanna play the riff! :kaolivid:

@DestinyBattle This MAIN THEME music.....I wanna know the story.:kaoslp:

Well, here's mine. But sounds like Russian to me.

    My music

And this is why I need drummer.

  19. May be the biggest ressource of composers and feedback I've been able to access in my life so far. Sooo I guess I'll give it a shot.

I've made two battle themes for RPG Maker purposes. This being the first...

    and that, the second one.

The first one is a boss battle theme, and the second one just for "friendly" battles. And by friendly I mean generic. Normal. What ever you'd like to call it haha.

I'd love to get some feedback on those. They're quite old by now and I just polished the first one here, but I still personally like them a lot.
    Cya.
