  1. While waiting for my approval on the Temple of the Lost Art Challenge, I decided to start ahead.

This is what I have in mind for the introduction. Took me approx 1.2 hours finish. I tried to make it as loopable as possible for the sake of it being used for any RPGM Projects.

  2. Pretty awesome, Lars! I like your style.  :)   I hope I haven't missed anyone. (Except those who  intentionally don't comment BEFORE posting their music ;) )

Here's a brand new piece from a game I'm working on.  I work closely with the developer so I can expect to crank out a new song at least every couple of days. Maybe every 3 or so.

  3. ugh, i've been so busy with my game, i haven't had time to listen to much. but i'm planning on hearing it soon. always curious to see what's out there!  :)
  4. @Lars I've listened to that track many times and still love it. I really love the almost whimsical inclusions of the flute and harp at the beginning. It's a, "so wrong, it's right" kind of thing because all the other instruments are guitars and synths. In fact. I think it would be a great idea to include it in a few more of the passages.

@Iron Croc I think you did a great job with this piece. Everything about it screams "town theme." It's nice to hear you using horns as a primary instrument as well.

I composed this short piece as a title screen for Nio Kasgami's game, "Alone."

I'm very new to using VSTs in my music. It's not the most expressive use of the samples but it took quite awhile for me to even get here.
  5. @Iron Croc - wow this is probably one of my favorites of yours so far. fantastic job!

@Ms Littlefish - Truely awesome. love it!
  6. Love that a lot of people make their own music as well. Going to take a long time to fully go through this thread

I have a bunch of songs I can post, but I'll only post my favorites and newer stuff for now.

    https://soundcloud.com/zds-2/and-light-our-blades-on-fire

Back when I still used the default windows midi to make music. Good times, bad times; in the end I learned a lot with those set of instruments.

This was when I used the music program called Musagi. It was glitchy and unfinished, but it took me a step further in my music composing skills; so it will always have a special place for me, haha.

This is a much more recent one, that I made for my Indie Game Maker Contest 2014 project. I'm using much better sound fonts these days.

Sorry about posting so much at once, normally I'll keep it to about 1-2 at most, but I wanted to start with the progression I went through. =p
  7. thanks Maximus32... I know my style isn't as traditional as everyone else here, who I finally got a chance to listen to. Ms Littlefish, gotta say I'm impressed. same with Iron Croc. I'm gonna listen to more when I get done with my own music lol.
  8. @ Iron Croc: Love the movement of this piece, can imagine wandering around a town with this in the background.

@ MsLittlefish: Very nice opening theme, great use of the instruments, especially since you said you haven't used them much before! Perhaps try and emphasise the '1 ' beat a bit more so the piece has clear pulse

@zDS A very calm piece, I really enjoyed 0:40 where the arpeggios started and the drums pick up a bit. Maybe play around with the voicings of the strings as the piece progresses to add some more interest to that part. Also the drums just stop at 1:03, could you perhaps add a fill for them to finish on?

I've been busy working on the music for Winter Blossoms, but I found some time to write something a bit different and enter a tune contest.  It's a bit abstract (I can't imagine where it would fit in a game) but it was a lot of fun to create

  9. Hello musicians! I've missed a lot :o So many comments to reply to.

@zerobeat032 Agent 9 and Aflred theme really sounds good. I like how you use the filters and stuff. Also the songs remind me a bit of the sonic adventure 2 ost, so good job!

@Drassray Brathean Settlement really fits in a medieval town. Victory Revised. It really is a joy to listen to. I like the soft flute you use in both of your songs. It gives you a really calm feeling. It makes you hum along with it! Well done.

@hian nice mixes mate! It sounds so clean and wonderful.

@Ms Littlefish The moon! Final Hours still gives me the shivers. Well done on the arrangement! This would fit the last minute before the moon actually starts crashing. I also love the vocal sound. it really completes the song.

@Luke_Flynn Simply beautiful. My favorite is the trailer score. I absolutely love the atmosphere and piano :)

@project trinity Your battle theme sounds really unique! The choir and vocals are really catchy and fit perfectly in that style

@Arkane609 Symphonic combined with metal is can be pretty hard to compose but you pulled it of. I love how it starts as orchestra and then the electric guitar coming in!

@Iron Croc Beautiful Skyview. Just wow! This could easily fit in a professional rpg game. Think about the Atelier Iris series ;) Beautiful and clean guitar and flute.

I will comment on other songs soon. Recently finished this track where the 2 main male characters have to fight each other in the tournament. See it as a rivalry battle theme. I'm really pleased with the final result. Enjoy :)

  10. How did I not notice this thread until now?? I'll be posting some stuff in the next week or so, been working on a couple of things. In the meantime I get to listen to all of your stuff! Just checked out Beautiful Skyview by Iron Croc, it's awesome. :D
  11. @IronCroc : I LOVE THIS. No, really. It makes me think of how Secret of Mana would sound if it was released on a next-gen console. Definetely have to learn from this track, many interesting patterns.

@MsLittlefish : Here again, I love it. And I'm usually not that fond of orchestral soundtracks. I like the feelling it gives.

@Zds : Well, listened only to the first track but it was a nice trip. Do you have only midi? It sounds pretty good and would totally fit something like a Doom level (Doom community is still mainly using midi soundtracks). You would be pretty popular there if you shared such works. Also would see it fit for snes rpg. Good job ^^

So here is my new soundtrack, it's for the second main dungeon : https://soundcloud.com/galiyuka/little-smokey-dungeon. The concept of the dungeon here is that it actually is one small room filled with "magic smoke" in the basement of an orkid temple (orkids are like orks but who love flowers and cooking as much as "krunching" things). This smoke makes the party have hallucinations where they must face their most taboo and disturbing psychological issues, undealt with past events etc. That's a key moment in the game when we get to know the characters much better.
  12. @ML (Mostly Useless) I liked your piece. It seems to fit Oh! Ko pretty nicely! You definitely have a unique style!

@Lars, thank you kindly! I also LOVE Smokey Dungeon. I can't wait to play your game once it comes out. :D

@Iron Croc: This was pretty cool and relaxing. It reminded me of Final Fantasy 7, like a Costa Del Sol beach resort track. Or maybe a town theme from Star Ocean: The Second Story. It's been awhile since I've played that so I can't remember exactly which one. All that aside, really great work, man. Now I need to go on a vacation!!!

@Ms Littlefish: I absolutely love the intro. And as I said on Soundcloud, I think it will serve greatly as a title theme. The way it ends and everything culminates into that last few seconds was masterful. Good work!

@zDS: It was very interesting to hear these piece's progression as you say your sounds got better. So it was pretty cool to be able to hear your improvements over the span. For me, personal taste, the stand out was Synthetic Garden Piano. It starts so simply, but structurally, I think it was really good. I really enjoyed that piece.

@diamond16: This was a pleasure to listen to. Something about the sound of the instruments took me back to Final Fantasy 8 and 9. I couldn't quite decide which. I really liked the deep cello work that came in at about 1:20. I believe that was a cello anyway! Haha. I can definitely imagine where this could fit in a game! It is abstract, yes. It would fit perfectly in a cold, icy cavern. Or maybe a dream type world where things aren't exactly what they seem. The ending world of FF9 most certainly comes to mind.

@Mana Aeliria: That was a very bold piece. It was full of strength and rivalry. I can definitely see where it would be for a meaningful battle, like the two you described.

@Lars Ulrika: I really liked all the change ups in here. And all the chaotic elements. I read your description before listening and I think it fits great. I can totally envision having wicked hallucinations and being confronted with terrible psychological issues with this.
  14. I'm so freakin' stoked, I had to post this now. The developer for whom I wrote this won't be back for another day or so and he never thinks to check this thread. X)

Check it out! It's a battle theme! My first (Well, second) ever!

    DANCING BLADES
  15. Can't access it, Iron Croc... is it set to private?
  16. @ OH! Ko: Fixed. :)

Ah, so it's Mostly Useless.... whoops!
  17. @Iron Croc: Very, very cool. I can see why you couldn't wait to post it!

Here's my first contribution to the thread, it's a cross-post from my Tomb of the Lost Art thread. It might be suitable as a character or game theme... Oh, and it's designed to loop, hence the sudden cut-off.

    https://soundcloud.com/misty-mountain-music-hut/forever-and-a-day

Yay soundcloud embedding! I'd prefer a smaller widget, though, but I'm not sure if that's possible here.
  18. @iron croc : that battle theme is cool ! kinda remind me of james bond theme. i know, i know it's really stupid but well... i am stupid

@mostly useless : nice one ! can i use it in one of my project ? i got a feeling it gonna be so cool !

recently, me and my two other friends formed a band. i am the drummer, yay !!! and here's the first song we wrote. it's called about life.

and this is Koi Mizu cover by our band.

Tell me what you think guys. Oh, and maybe you can suggest what kind of song you want our band to cover or make. Maybe, just maybe we can make it and put it on the net.
  19. @jajunk: Glad you like it! I'm actually hoping to open a music shop in the next week or so, and that track will be available for licensing for a low price. I'll PM you when the thread's opened so you can take a look. :D
