  1. Iron Croc, your song reminds me of the file select screen in the Klonoa games (here it is). It's light, varied, and has undertones of adventure in it. I love it!

jajunk, I love the heavy percussion mixed with the flute as the main melody. It's also very simple and memorable, which makes it ideal for a main theme: you can create multiple songs with the same melody or structure as the main theme with varying levels of complexity.

The melody is nice but I feel like there's a lot going on. What genre is your game? It could use some tightening up and some more clarity. But it isn't bad. If the the guitar is meant to be in the background you might pull it back some.

edit: upon listening to it again.. It's growing on me. In fact the balance almost feels proper. See now I'm sending you mixed reviews. But I still feel like there's an element missing I can't put my finger on it. Gonna listen again lol

Edit 2:I figured it out! The flute. Is that why you asked me about the flute? I believe your song with the almost Japanese rock feel would benefit Fromm a more breathy flute!

The flute sound I used for Royalty is from Sample Tank on iPad. They have a PC/Mac version I believe.
Genre of my game ? Well, of course it's RPG. The story it's a little bit complicated though. It's about rebellion of RPG maker RTP. And yes, that's why i asked you about the flute. Thank you very much for the info drassray ! I owe you one !

    edit :

Searched Sample Tank for PC but i have to pay for it and right now i don't have any. Well, i guess i'll search for another flute sound.

I like this but I honestly think that either the flute needs to go bye bye or the guitar needs to be brought into the front more and then the flute notes should be changed to so it blends a bit better with the rest of the song.
So it's really the flute that make this song not quite right... i'll try to fix it. Thanks !

I really liked this! But I too feel like there was just... that least little thing missing.   I liked how... Innocent and Young it sounds.  :)
Can i ask what little thing ? I don't really get that "innocent and young" but i take that as a compliment so thank you !!!

Thank you, Maximus32. So, basically i can create more than 1 theme ? Is that it ???
  3. Commented on your song on sound cloud but yea. that's a good song man. especially for a "noob"

    well done
  4. I know this isn't really RPG Maker music (well, Unless you had a scene where they would work I guess), but I was wanting some feedback if anyone here is a fan of Buckethead. Buckethead has long been one of my favorite guitarists around. While not my absolute favorite, his technical ability is simply outstanding. He can play things that very few other guitarists can. Brian Patrick Carrol (Buckethead) has released a bit over 94 albums all together, not to mention EPs, singles, and special releases. I have VERY long been trying to perfect my own playing to emulate his sheer speed (at least 10 years of just speed and technical practice alone). While certainly not quite where I want to be yet, I finally got the courage to attempt my two favorite songs of his, sort of a tribute to pushing my playing style to its limit.

You guys will most likely know the first song, Jordan, which was made famous in 2006 after being featured as a bonus track on Guitar Hero II. It quickly became known as one of the most difficult tracks in the series to play on Expert due to how unlike normal solos it was. However, if you listen to my version, you will quickly notice that I had no problem implementing my own style a bit. I thought that if I was going to cover, I would do it my own way. But my question is, did it sound right?

The second song was off Brian's 2006 album, Crime Slunk Scene, and quickly became one of his most popular songs, often played live (but always played different, oddly enough). Because the song was very often played very different, depending on how Brian felt for the night at his live shows, I had a problem figuring out how I wanted to play it myself. I based it off the album version for a bit, and then improvised the rest. Because of the improv, I think I re-recorded the damn thing like seven times (which sucks with it being ten minutes long....). Anyways, again like last time, does it work? Does it sound right?

Anyways, I post these cause I just want a bit of feedback. Do they sound okay or do I need a few more years of practice before I am ready? Take an honest shot.
  5. Both... Sound... Awesome. The tone is there. In fact, it's so there, I found myself headbanging at my work desk. I'm very impressed. Anyways, the sound is good, clean, precise. Jordan is perfect. The distortion+reverb fits perfectly on the lead for soothsayer. I only wish I could play guitar nearly that good. (or even piano/keyboard). There is a spot in the middle I don't care too much for (Soothsayer around 4:25) but otherwise I love it myself.

    Good stuff there Hyde.
  6. Believe it or not, that is actually the tab for the middle of soothsayer. I was looking at the actual score for the song and it was very confusing why Brian would put that there. Maybe it was just where he was switching guitars or something, cause he does use two different guitars for that song and switches in between solos, but it sounds odd. That is why I ended up finishing the song as improve. I got so confused with how he wrote it there that I just started busting out whatever I could fit in, lol. But oh well, it works for me.

But thank you very much. Guitar is one of those things where you can do whatever you put your mind to, but you must practice. Practice every chance you get. And don't ever be afraid to find a teacher wherever you go. I once read that Randy Rhoads would take lessons from local teachers in every city he toured in while he was with Ozzy, that way he could learn multiple tricks, styles, and ways to do things he already did. He was always learning, and I have often done the same. I personally will hire teachers left and right, just to learn new things I may not have learned from other people.
  7. Posting another classic from the old version of Save your mother. It's one of the more beloved songs of the OST, it's the theme of the memory puzzle.
  8. jajunk, what I meant is that you can use one theme to create many different songs if you play around with it. I've heard expert composers create several songs based off of one theme, but they all sound completely different.

Here's a few more of my songs:

From Sacchariine (yes, two "i"s), my first ever RPG that's a WIP -

Blind Battle - The main battle music of the game

Mama's Home - plays when you're at home

Like a Game of Hide and Seek

The Kingdom of Urutes - D:

It's a weird, off beat game with a lot of strange stuff, so I'm trying my hand at a lot of different styles.
  9. Here's the battle theme for The Heart Pumps Clay:

Man, I haven't posted in this thread in a while.

@Hyde: I'm a huge Buckethead fan; he probably IS my favorite guitarist.  Good work on those covers; your playing's pretty solid, and Buckethead's got some pretty tough stuff.
  10. @Housekeeping

Cool Song! I really like the transition you have there. Really solid battle music. Sounds great!

    @AtomicBrony

I like this song because of the more chill Techno feel. I like all the different sections as well.

Here's another desert themed song from me. This one will be for a dungeon. I plan on pulling back the shakers a little, sorry if they are a little loud.

  11. @Housekeeping, First of all I love your name. ROFL!  ALso that battle theme is quite interesting... Never heard one like that before.  I like how it's soft throughout the theme.

@Brony, that's pretty cool. Vocals would be neat.

@Drassray Brilliant. I loved it... It make me get a sudden craving for middle eastern snacks... like Gumab Jamun... Lassi... and Dorowat...

@Mana : Incredible! It's very final fantasy. Are you a seasoned musician? What do you play? I'm guessing piano by the sounds of it...

Alrighty... here's what I've been working on for the past two weeks, fresh out of the IGMC. I decided to pick back up on my main project. An RPG themed to a tropical island... and here's the refurbished battle theme.

WARRIOR DANCE! (Formerly Ready for Battle)   I'm pleased as punch at this.
  12. @IronCroc, I like your song! Some really good mix of beats and melodies and awesomeness.. =P Glad you like my song!
  13. @Drassray:

Thanks!  Your desert track definitely sounds fitting, probably since you're from Lubbock, haha.  There's a melody that comes in around 14 seconds that sounds close to stock (the one from Misirlou), but it ends up cutting that expectation.  I would still vary it some at the start since I'm not a big fan of stock melodies, but it's working now.

    @IronCroc:

Cool, glad it's making you interested in my game!  It sounds a little soft since I tried to make the battle themes fit the naturalistic setting of the game; it takes place in a giant tree, so I wanted to soften the edges and make it sound a bit more natural (marimbas remind me of jungles and water, and the lead synth is pretty soft).  Anyway, your track is making me want to play Star Tropics, haha.  It could probably use some more changes rhythmically, but that might just be personal preference, and I don't know if that would fit the tone of the game or not.  I like the tonal shift that occurs around places like the 6:05 spot, but there's a synth in there that's running counterpoint that isn't bad, but I think maybe some different instrumentation might work better.  I like the fact that it's a melodic percussive instrument, but, I don't know, maybe I would experiment with a few different sounds there--I could be off.
  14. This was a short tune I did a while back messing around with FamiTracker I really enjoyed the learning process during the time and this was a result.
