  1. Well, I've already used some VXResourcePlanet in mine. I'll have to put disclaimers in the credits now >.<
  2. If someone used ripped resources, then disclaimers don't do anything to help - no matter wether the resulting game is non-commercial or not.

When the real owner of the ripped resources sees them, he can require you to take down and delete that game. And in some countries that is even enforced by law because if the owner ignores copyright violations he risks loosing the copyright.

But of course there is a solution, and that is to ask for credits for uncredited materials, and put placeholder sprites/tiles in for rips until you find appropriate replacements. =]

VX Resource Planet materials are mostly uncredited, and posted without artist permission and against terms, which is stinky, but not an unsolvable problem as far as credits go, in many (not all) cases.

Of course, once you know this, you avoid the problem at the front end and avoid trouble-making sites, which is why this thread is important.
  4. Aaaand I just realized I have forgotten which things came from VX Resource Planet. Oh no.

I just looked through the site and I'm not sure if I've used ANY actually, so I hope that's not the case.
  5. Most things require credits, so first thing is to take out all the ones that you can't do credits for.

Post a few tilesets with some sort of watermark over them on resource requests and someone may be able to identify them if they cane from one or two people
  7. As I see I've only imported one that I know of so far that wasn't made by me. I'll take your advice.
  8. Some of the images in the original post are missing.
  9. @Devi: They did that so no one would download them and use them anyway.
  10. I don't think so.  Avery had them watermarked and jpged so that wouldn't be a problem.
  11. Going to fix that. I can't find the original ones, so I'll be busy with watermarking and reuploding now.

Edit: Fixed, should be okay now
  12. I thought it was something like that combined with "do not post ripped resources" but that may be before everything was watermarked.

Watermarking stuff it always a good idea though, if it's for showing off.

I must have had a really outdated copy of the big icon set, cause the one you just uploaded is like twice the size.
  14. Does anyone know where this spider sprite comes from?

    [Removed]

It was posted by Falcao but I don't think he created it, he just edited it a bit.
  15. It's from Zombies Ate My Neighbors.  It's a rip, you can't use it.
  16. Yeah, this thread noticed me to make my own resource. Included my Game Over Sample. But somehow, I don't want to share it here because the rules.... :\

    Hi ArielWarrior,

Actually, a community like this, where artists' work and terms and conditions are respected and rigorously defended, is a great place to share resources, because you can have confidence that your work is protected as much as it can be in an internet posting.

You certainly won't be blacklisted if you make your own Game Over. Of course, extend the same respect to the creator if you used anyone else's materials, but if you forget, a reminder is a helpful thing to you and others. =]

Avery's work here is important because it protects artists and game makers as well. =]
  18. I have a question about Big Icon Set, if we used just some items about this stuff, and if in credit we write that if content is yours please report it to delete or to add you the credits, can be ok? Because, on ACE i had an iconset less bigger than this but many item like this one, and i use juste some item like "coat" for Gem item for example, so, it can be ok?
  19. No, it isn't. There are many illegal icons, like the Ragnarok online icons and it is not the people's task to message you, it is yours to search and give proper credits on your own.

There is a very high chance that all of the Japanese artists or even all of the artists in this sheet will never play you game. In the start post there are the links for save icons sources and the only thing you should do is to delete that thing and look through the legit sources and read all the artist's terms and make sure you follow them and stay grateful for their work.

Because it is a lot of work and without the passionate work of many great artists our games would look much more boring and those people deserve repect for what they do and did.
  20. Ok, thanks you to this answer, and sorry for my bad english, i will delete and don't used it
