Yeah, I heard about this story... trying to repeat it... A photographer took a picture of a woman on the street and sold it online. And to be precise, he didn't make a picture of a group of people she was part of, he explicitly photographed her. She tried to make the photographer to stop selling pictures of her and he walked to court to fight his right... he probably won...

Not neccessarily - he does have the copyright on the photo, but publicising it can be a privacy and/or personal rights violation (depending on where and how it was taken).

But, I was wondering... Don't such hosting sites have a Flag report function? It might help! (Also contacting the creators :p , Hope they don<t change handles from a site to another! ;) )


Hope some kids can outgrow that. ^^ I myself am allergic to plagiarism, stealing credit and undue exploitation.

If ever I had NO graphic skill at all or found someone on this forum who stole from someone else but I would had made a lengthy game with such material.


First before quitting the RPGMakerweb.com forum because it host rip-off I would flag the material warn the hosting management, try to retrace the original artist and.... ask his User term of use and probably explain the whole situation promising to give a copy of the game to the said original artist and give proper credit, or failing to find all of the original artists if it is a mosaic set of resources, start a tread upon what happened to me and asking for help (Maybe also proving how catastrophic impact having all of your tiles to be replaced and asking help for credits and a copy of my work!).


I think maybe also I would post a big whistle blower tread too for official apologies and warning future users to NOT use the uncredited work and... If possible to credit and publicize the links and work of the original artists. Hey maybe I would make 200+ friends that way... WAIT 200+??? Uh boy, I best continue to work on my own graphics all by myself!

Fair use and parody. It gets in there, if not we couldn't even use Barbie toys for stop motion or sing Aqua<s Barbie Girl as a social comment. I guess that is why Aqua didn't used the song Back To The Eighties in their last album, quoting "...when the coolest thing in store was the Commodore 64!" and I don't name you all stars, bands, products and brands that were in there. I know that I saw couples of RPGMaker parody of BBC's Doctor Who with the blue box... Now, would they be banned and sued for their humor? I mean, even making an anthro parody of it, I too often use the Blue Box and in the end change its shape ever so often than in one of my comics it was a Transformer! And then the concept was ripped off by someone else who made money with my idea and sold T-Shirts. I almost want to strangle folks wearing any of his badly thought (unable to compete) T-Shirt concepts because his hit came from me and he made money from me while I knew I did a caricature, a parody and I made it FREE... so I don't get the BBC on my back!


Now, I think of scanning some office stationary from scrapbooking as back-grounds to my games. Will it be considerated as pop-art just as Marylin Monroe's face in mosaic serigraphy (I'm sure Wharhold didn't contacted her photograph -but you can correct me-) and the Campbell soup rip-off he made more money with than the original maker of the Campbell soup etiquette?

What is inside that YouTube screencap is from my POV what I consider as rape culture! Someone making millions of the picture of you dying in your car instead of calling 911 so to make more agonizing shot per wasted/gained seconds for money without moral, ethic or compassion... just because of THAT promotion and the cash that comes with it! I kinda turn blue mad when someone is sick or drunk or underage and folks just get their phonecam at them as if there was nothing enough interesting IN their very own lives to do or shoot but stealing lifes of others. I'll end up wearing permanently a second skin (morphsuit)! I wouldn't FILM your kids... So leave other's kids alone! Strangely enough, I know I walk with a handcarved stick a cape and some strange hat and belt -my classical personal utilitarian style- and a kid with a camera once asked for me and asked to take a picture of me. Of course I said YES! (You've seen the user terms to what I post here?) On the reverse but only because I hoped a smiling thumb up guy took already my picture without asking but I smiled he seemed to have an okay attitude to not make me a garbage on cash and on-line. I can be lucky when I am as my ID picture with money and tourists and pictures and mischiefs... It didn't prevented me to get a REAL DOUCHE ruining my performance at my busking spot once to do his own "kids don't take drugs and stay at school!" video capture! I don't wanna see his facebook! I wish I had a cam-EMP for theses folks!


(Just to mention, I have finished my high school and got higher degrees and, all I can do, I do it straight. I don't like chems in my body. Even my Fallout characters are that way. :p )

@Chill Pingu: No, it includes rips, as well as icons from different authors, who aren't credited.

Either look at Avery's icon thread or specify which icons you want to use from that big set and if they aren't rips, we can probably provide the actual terms and author. (Though it would be better if you open a new thread in Resource Request for that)

@Chill: Half of them are Ace RTP edits, the other half are 'realistic' ones as rips from games. Stick to what you know is an Ace edit, like the rainbow books and colourful armour.

Hellene = Greek  in a more proper way between Greek people (greek people are called Hellenes), but the universal way to call us is Greek.

That's what people got used to call us. Sorry about that, if it seemed mystical, so I translate the whole thing.

Even as human being. I know social resources exists, but where to point out there is limit?

With the release of the 2k3, are there any of the more popular ressources that are a no-go? I know REFMAP can be used without problem, but what about other more popular ressources themes? Roco Faces (especially, what about the many expressions that exists for these), Theodore chipsets or VIPRPG (a japanese site, they have a destinctive style for their facesets, for example - what about them (except for straight out ripps that were edited)?).

So,

question one has any1 reached out to Ben Ben about this, he is available on deviant art so i think it may be possible to get him to answer some questions.

and next questin, what about hyper snakes resources?

Hypersnake answered my message and says that he made his trees in partnership with Al'Jeit, and as you can see from the note that commercial use is fine with him. However his trees are not posted in the link above. If you look on his Deviant Art page his style is very distinct from BenBen and Hanzo's stuff.

I think this may have contributed to some confusuion about whether Hypersnakes resources were original. The trees mixed in a set by a poster were attributed to Hypersnake but were BenBen/Hanzo edits.
