Boy, the hits just keep on coming! I finish the Hypercube and move right on to the puffs and Lunarion. What a guy! Hopefully, I can figure this one out but he's really hard.

From what I've heard, Lunarion is generally considered the 3rd hardest non-optional boss in the game (after <spoiler that you're not up to yet> and Dark Transient). But you've come this far, you can do it. :)

    The spoiler boss
    Corelock.

@Aoi Ninami, this is a boss you haven't seen yet either.
  2. Well, Lunarion is pretty darn hard. It would be helpful if I could scan the puffballs. Are they actually vulnerable to anything?
  3. The Lunopuffs can't be killed (except by defeating Lunarion, at which point they die too). If their HP is reduced to 0, they steal some HP from Lunarion to recover it. This can be useful - it means you get more damage out of hit-all attacks (eg. if you have Disaster hitting for 9999 to all enemies, using it here will get a total of 17999 damage to the body due to the Lunopuffs stealing some HP to recover); additionally, they have much lower defensive stats than Lunarion himself. The downside is their max HP is 4000, so any damage over 4000 at a time to them is wasted.

The Lunopuffs are immune to all status effects (even positive ones) and debuffs, as well as proportional-damage attacks, but take normal damage from all elements.

Lunarion himself can be scanned, so I'm guessing you already know his vulnerabilities / etc. Although Scan doesn't show resistance to debuffs - he's vulnerable to all of them, but has 50% resistance.

As you can probably tell, this battle was quite heavily inspired by a certain recurring boss in FFX, namely...

Seymour. And in particular, the 3rd battle against him (Seymour Flux), although to a lesser extend the 2nd (Seymour Natus) too.

On that note, you might've also noticed the Enchanter boss way earlier in the game was based on the 4th one (Seymour Omnis).
  4. Hi again

Has anyone defeated the optional boss Toropho in the graveyard? Maybe I need wind/tornado resistance. I have not yet defeated Craig and Brianna in the Haunted house. This RPG is great. Very hard battles which you need to think carefully and choose wisely. Thank You.

  5. There is no Wind element, so your only options for Tornado are increasing your HP or increasing your Spirit.

I recommend leaving this boss until later. You will soon get a party member with the ability to buff Spirit (and other stats).
  6. Thank You Aoi Ninami.

I will now go forward into the Haunted Mansion
  7. Is there a way to guard against trauma? If there is, and I learned it once upon a time, I have forgotten it by now. I just met the Transient Plus or whatever its name is and it keeps traumatizing me. I'm still having trouble with Lunarion but I'm sure I'll get him in the end.
  8. Trauma is a physical attack, so the damage can be reduced with Defence buff, Defence+??% abilities, Shield, or the "Defend" command.
  9. Well, I finally beat Lunarion, Mia and Shinryu. Now, about that Minacell. Any hints on how to avoid Annihilation? Do I just keep trying to destroy the little blobs? He reanimates them pretty quickly.
  10. Nicely done!

For Minacell, yes, if he gets a turn with at least one Mindrette dead, he will revive them all. Note that if he only has to revive one, he gets his next turn much quicker than if he had to revive all three (with two being somewhere in the middle). If he gets a turn with all three alive, bam, you're dead. Just to save you the time trying - Deathproof won't help here, Total Annihilation ignores immunity.

As such, a useful strategy is to go all out on keeping one dead, while slowly whittling down the other two. Once you get to the point where you can take all three out quickly, do so and use that as your chance to pile on damage.

Also, Minacell has the Transient-like condition of being immune to physical damage unless hit with Weaken (I don't recall if he has the same for magical damage / Meltdown, I think he didn't). However, he doesn't ever "reset his shields", so you only have to inflict it once.

You're now in the final dungeon, so bosses from here on will all be very nasty (I guess there's one that's not too bad, but apart from that). ;) On the flipside, though, you've only got 8 or 9 storyline bosses to go (depending on if you've beaten a certain other one yet - Minacell and one other both need to be defeated before progressing, but you can do them in either order).
  11. Thumbs up. That did the trick. I was afraid I had to take out all three at the same time. Now, onwards.
  12. You, my friend, are a sadist. How do you kill someone who can't take any damage? Gralliet, I'm looking at you.

Never mind. That was really evil. Took me way too long to figure it out. :D
  14. Heh. That's the one I was talking about when I said there's one that might not be so bad. :p
  15. I finally solved the button puzzle after spending some time on it. I got lucky trying to solve it ninjamida
    legend.button.puzzle.jpg
  16. First off, since I'm sort of in the end game, is there any way to go back to that button puzzle? And second, I'm in the Garden of Memories (or whatever it's called) and have run into the what I call the stupid twins, and am having a lot of trouble. I killed her and he immediately brought her back to life. Keeping them silenced is tricky. Is this another case of having to get them both at the same time?
  17. You can't revisit the button puzzle, but the reward is just a Slowtouch, which you can buy in unlimited quantities in the endgame.

Yes. If Full-Cure is making that difficult to acheive, Virus is a good way to counteract it - IIRC, she's smart enough to not even try to use Full-Cure when under Virus, but that still achieves the desired goal of preventing healing (she just doesn't waste turns trying to do so anyway).
  19. Any other hints? Virus wears off on her too quickly. These two are really tough. And you say it gets worse? Poor me!
  20. She's also vulnerable to Silence and Slow. He's vulnerable to Darkness and Slow. If I remember correctly, they have the ability to heal these, but it still can help.
