  1. Wow. Thought it was too good to be true. Glad I had only made two maps with it so far. Off to redo now.
  2. Yikes, I knew something was weird with the different art styles. But I was just hoping the weird pieces were just terrible drawings..nope just terrible edits. The legit RTP edits looked nice though, it's a shame because he could of done just fine with the edits alone. Surprised a lot of you didn't know he was Hanzo though, it was in his profile. Sad to hear so many people lose months of work because of this. $80 is one thing but that much time costs a lot more...
  3. Hmm yeah that surprised me too. The moment I saw his banner/User Icon (when he first joined) I knew it was Hanzo because he used the same style/colorscheme for Asteria as he did for Valykrie Stories and his other game he never completed (Magna Eternal),
  4. Welp, my excuse is I have goldish memory. Very often I will warn a member, 5 minutes later, forget who they are or why I warned them.

It certainly explained the rips/edits though, once I knew.

That's what I'm thinking, I remember when the guy who made intelligence tried to alt-account out of a similar situation and he got banned in less than a day. I figured Kaus was at least being monitored to prevent a repeat of the Hanzo Kimura days (also probably why I was thinking right off that the Asteria tiles were odd) but he's been around as Kaus for years here, dropped off the earth and then came back...then again, maybe Hanzo Kimura wasn't actually a member of 'this, specific rm community' and that could have some standing on whether he'd be banned for creating an account here (though I'm almost certain that even if that was before rpgmakerwebs time that a lot of the mods are the same people from the old vx site I think that actually went down in first).

I guess all of us that recognized him probably should have been reporting it to mods long ago when he was just scripting and flaunting the fact that he was Hanzo, when I think about it we could have prevented this whole unfortunate mess from screwing with newer members of the community and forcing them to have to redesign their games if we had.
  6. We don't have time to check everyone's profiles thoroughly to make sure they aren't someone who has done wrong in the past. If something catches our eye, we will certainly investigate it and look into it, but we have to be made aware there's something fishy in the first place, through our own observation or someone reporting it. That's why the report system is there.

I was aware of the issues with Hanzo's tiles, but was not active in that day to know the similarities between banner styles. And on his profile, as far as I can see, you have to follow a Facebook page to see solid proof. Not trying to sound defensive, just saying, we are people who do not know every single thing and will miss stuff because of that. So, if you see something you think is fishy, please report it.

Well I for one, didn't report him because I thought the mods knew and I had hoped he'd learned of his errors..
  8. for people wondering for his plugin I will investigate if it's have stolen code.
  9. I was thinking of buying his tilesets too! Welp that's pretty much all my maps I have to do over. I detest scammers. Scum of the earth.
  10. Well I'm seriously disappointed.

I saw his thread yesterday and downloaded the assets to make some of my own edits, guess they can all head to my recycle bin now... better yet just shift-delete them. :headshake:

The biggest question still stays though...

What about the people who paid for a "license"? What if they won't be able to get a refund?

Maybe or at least you could've just let him return the money he received before banning him

in the forums... well that's what I think. Feel free to shoot *gunfire!* me if you think I'm being too one sided xD

For people who paid for a license, if a refund is not given with a week I would seriously consider legal action or contact the police as he has literally committed fraud under or over $5000 depending on how many people paid for these stolen assets.
  11. Actually while i've been reading the thread about this incident i do wonder since there's not much info about Kaus/Hanzo Kimura besides the general forum do not use thread here.

Though is there a story about this person? considering i've have not heard much about him but this selling and ripping commercial stolen assets for $80 is rather alarming considering the evidence being posted (Especially the Ni no Kuni edit/rips) Though if i recall there was a pixel academy here before on the old boards before I think something like this could help reduce incidents like this from happening in the future.

     I disagree.

What this man has done is simply unforgivable to artists and shows that he has absolutely no compunction in defrauding others. This is also not his first time doing it, which makes him a known thief and someone who will clearly do this without any conscience, until he gets caught- and even then, he won't admit his guilt fully.

He has no place among decent people. Run him out. IP ban him. Make the word known so others can avoid him. Once, it's a mistake, twice, an unrepentant crook.

That's not a  solid good idea considering there are harassment policies on sites like rpg maker and mob mentality tends to backfire badly on the internet. Though fortunately i see this thread has spread to some of the rpg maker community on tumblr since google search points out to one of those tumblr. So warnings are being spread around about this.
  12. Omigosh, just found out about this on an RM group in FB. What a mess! :headshake:
  13. Yep, totally a major upset. this threw a wrench in a lot of RMMV Projects.

Good thing @Avery a link to some replacement tilesets, to help out with the destruction of a Kaus Asteria tileset.
  14. Was going to buy these when I had some extra money to throw around. I guess I'm feeling saved yet really unhappy that a good set of tiles are completely gone due to an idiot ripping off hard working artists.

I hope those affected get their money back and I hope this person learns their lesson.

That just makes me really sad if I'm honest.
  17. I just realized I am using Kaus Ultimate Overlay plugin. Is there any way to find out if this plugin is legit?

I am considering removing it from my project just out of non-association.

At least parallax mapping can still be easily achieved by other means, and there hasn't been a lot of time investment like with people's maps made with the tilesets.
  18. @Jory4001 I've been requesting since last night for someone to check the integrity of the Kaus Ultimate Overlay, since i'll be using it in my small projects too.

I want to at least know some of his stuff isn't fully stolen.
  19. I ended up not using it cause of the high prices he was asking for...when everyone here offers either free or substantially lower prices as the community was great. I felt like he was in it for the money and not the art, so :D Thanks for this.
  20. I remember around 5year ago. Hanzo do a similiar case like this.
and now he do it again...oh god. (and this time even charge money for right to use...)

Luckily, i didn't use his resource in my game yet.
