  1. I haven't quite figured out the logistics of that one, but I do know it involves kill codes, viruses and firewalls, amoung other things. Basically it's puzzle based, something to break up the stealth and fighting element, and to give Cidney something to do while the game progresses. lol.
  2. ahh, sounds interesting.

I will have to remember to check that out when you have finished :D
  3. My goal today is for the HP meter to work, Low HP alarm to work, a locked door to open, a password gate to EXPLODE upon correct password, and a demon statue to either eat a cake or the player.  I've got all working except the demon statue!

NEXT on my list is to write continuities for the game to use (For the player to remember later).... EG regular water won't kill you, but magic spring water will...
  4. So...

I am going to bed soon and figured I would actually post a report of what i got done today.

Out of my list I managed to code most of the Select Ship Scene.

    Spoiler
    My To-Do List:

Various Power-ups (temp buffs etc)Explosives / Ship Explode on deathGravitySelect Ship SceneVarious TechnologiesTechnology Scene
Now, you may think "thats almost nothing" however, I have also written 4 scripts for other people. 2 of which where tiny, 1 for a good friend and 1 in exchange for graphical resources for my game - well made ones too :)

I also got a new curtain rail and hung that up - not game related, but it sure as hell took alot of time ^_^
  5. Progress for the day: Got the puzzle out and tested. Positive feedback, yay!! That's definitely encouraging. Still have some things to tweak on it, but for now, I'm going to put it aside on work on other things.

Some IRL bad news put me in a down mood, so I was not at all in the mindframe to work on storyline/scenes. Instead, I sprited. Two of my main characters from my series are getting wardrobe changes for this game, so I finished up one of them today.

I'm feeling a bit better emotionally, so I think I'm ready to sit down with the writing portion. The problem is that I know how I want it to begin and I know how I want it to end, I just have to get from point A to point B with enough interesting stuff.
  6. We lost our maps. I don't know exactly how it happened, but from what I understand, he opened up our project on a different computer and Steam synced to an old version of our file from the cloud and that's what we're stuck with.

I did finish five artworks we needed though. I'm sure the mapping will go faster next time now that it won't be as new to us, right? :/

Just make all the NPCs have some comical dialogue and side quests. Those usually take some time up ^_^
  8. Haven't really felt very productive today; don't really know why...

Still, I did manage to somewhat event a halfway working ABS (the enemies attack fine, but I can't seem to trigger player attacks that well; I'd use one of the existing scripts for it, but they all come with way too many extras and I'm not good enough with RGSS3 to change them)

Currently going through the huge stockpile of music I have to clear things out and better decide what I actually need in the project. I'm also hoping to at least get another map done (or at least started) before I go to bed so I can just event tomorrow.
  9. My new goal is to finish mapping out the entire first floor WITH EVENTS AND SWITCHES.   This ought to be fun. :D I love mapping!

    Ouch...

And that is why I don't like saving to "The Cloud"...Unless it is a conscious choice to upload it anyway.

Well, maybe you will think of a better way to do it this time around?
  11. Off to a decent start for the day. I was able to get a fair amount of the outline done last night. That really helped me to be able to focus on what I need for maps, which is what I felt like doing this morning. So I've started two new maps which will probably replace the previous ones. One is basically done and the other won't be difficult other than perhaps needing some custom tiles put together. We'll see.

The goals for today are to continue work on the maps and perhaps get a few of the storyline events/dialog done.
  12. My goal is to enhance the mechanics that are already in my game and accommodate explosions / blast radius+effects / shockwave radius+effects. Once I have done that, I plan on making a short video, might not do that till tomorrow or Thursday though.

Good luck with your story writing mlogan, that can sometimes be stressful :)
  13. @Dekita, good luck with doing the video! What type of battle system you using?

    @All,

My goal for the day is to finish the tutorial and get the game started proper.

If I meet that in a decent time, I'm also going to do the artwork for some more enemies.
  14. @Dekita - Thanks! It's actually going pretty well, I feel like. Having a clearer picture of what the maps need to like and having made progress on those have helped. And it was great because when I started eventing the first scene, the dialog just flowed pretty well. Yay!

So really, I feel like I've made some significant progress today.

I would love to see a video of your game! It looks great already!
  15. @legacyblade - I am not using any of the default scripts that come in RPG Maker.

I suppose if you called my main 'fighting' scene a battle system, it would be a spaceship / in space battle system ;)

@mlogan - I love it when that happens. I've made alot of small 1-2 hour long games just to check out how best to do certain things. They almost always start out as a 15 minute project and rapidly expand when I get into the characters.

I seen you mention something about positive feedback on your puzzles? I assume then that you managed to get the snippet of code doing what you wanted?

Also, thanks. I dont wanna spoil too much, so I have been quite apprehensive about posting an actual video of the gameplay; however, what I will do is part with some spoiler info and such...

    Spoiler
Hyde, yes, Hyde has recently joined my project as the main graphical artist. You may/may not have seen Hyde's work before, but I can assure you, it always blows my mind, so imagine how yours will feel ;)

It was Hyde that done the Aliens Under Attack Logo in my sig. He also done the images you see within the spoiler below

As you will notice, his input has already had a huge impact on the game (positive of course) and I can assure you, there are more surprises to come.

Now, you may be looking at that image thinking 'looks cool - pity its not animated'...

    Well...

If you are capable of putting 2+2 together, you will see whats going on there ;)

Anyway, thats enough of my ramble...
I think i will add that into my last post in my topic as that's quite a bit of info compared the what it currently shows :D

As someone who just went through this EXACT same thing (but with database), you have my sympathy.  My deepest, most profound sympathy.

My suggestion-do like I do (since my crash) and save it in AT LEAST four different places at the end of every session.  *nods*

As to what I've got done today, not nearly as much as I'd have liked.  Got two maps out of the way (Sanguine-4's space port and tavern), but that's it.  Had some "Family issues" that needed tending to.  Put me quite behind schedule.

Tomorrow, I hope to make up for it by getting off work early, and putting in at least 7-8 hours on the game.

My GOAL is Beta by the 22nd, full game uploaded on the 29th.

After seeing several games that have been submitted, while I don't think I stand a CHANCE at the 10k, I think I might get SOMETHING.  I'm feeling pretty confident about my game right now, you guys.  Not going to lie.

To quote Homer Simpson's Manuscript from the Shinning:  "Feelin' Fine."

    EDIT EDIT EDIT:

Am removing the time limit for the game.  I had a system set up to where the game ends in 48 minutes after the opening cutscene.  Too many of my mates (and others) have complained about that idea.  So it's getting scrapped.

Also, due to falling MADLY IN LOVE with the Sanguine Sol System (the galaxy this game takes place in), I've decided that while this IS a stand alone game, and WILL complete a narrative, there is no reason for me NOT to tell more stories in this system, with Captain Sully and his crew, AND with other people you meet along the way.

Already thinking of my next project, actually.  *Nods*  Don't feel like posting the same basic info twice, but suffice to say the Cook of the ship will get a nice story about him, probably.

Because while he's not a MAJOR character in the game (basically tells you about each planet in the system, what key item you'll find there, etc.), his backstory is, in my opinion, going to be MOST EPIC.

    Because MONTE -YOINKED!- WALSH, PEOPLE.
  17. Morning update: I feel like I got a lot more accomplished than I'd hoped yesterday. I got a good start to eventing the dialog, enough that a player could go in and play through a bit of the story and have a good idea of what is going on. No real mechanics yet, though other than battles, I'm not sure what mechanics there will be, lol! One step at a time.

Goals for today - anything. Seriously, any bit of work I can get done will be great as I have to spend the morning packing for me and my two kids to be gone for two nights. We are going to have a fun trip, but it will be almost 3 days of very limited if any working time. Trying to remind myself that in the long run, my kids are much more important. (Which, I do know that, it's just easy to get caught up in a project like this.)

@Dekita - Ummm, well... not yet. I do plan to work on it, but since it will be just to reveal the solution I was able to have the testers check it for me without it. I feel terrible I haven't worked on either of you snippets you wrote for me, I just haven't been in the mindframe to tackle code yet. But I will!!!

I hope everyone has a good productive day today!
  18. Friday is going to be our super pajama work day. We both have the entire day off. So in the mean time we have tasked ourselves with finishing other small busy work so we can go full speed into more tedious tasks such as eventing on Friday. So, it's going to be a slow but steady next couple of days for me.
  19. A full day to work in pajamas!!! How fun!!
