Expect a playable demo Monday evening.
This is my goal as well.
  2. Good luck you guys! ^_^
  3. I'm not releasing a public demo till the day before the end of the comp :p
  4. I don't plan on releasing a public demo either. But I would like to be able to have some people playtest it soon.
  5. I finished the crown jewel maze of the game... I tested it out last night and enjoyed the over 200 combos a player could possibly make, PLUS the looming consequence of a game over (But it takes a really long time!) after twenty minutes.... EEEEE the mechanic is so cool I can scarcely keep my mouth shut!
  6. I've got a massive headache, progress has slowed down, but still chugging along. Argh...

Ouch! I know all to well how that goes, and I hope you get feeling better soon!

Play testers are over-rated. I dont think the play testing process should go the way it normally does.... With people suggesting features. To me, that's not what PT-ing is about. It is, and should always be about testing the current features of a game.

If you had people that would just do that, and that alone, then I think its worth it. Even if its only a small number of people who do the testing.

Personally, I can't be one of those people. Every time I see an RPGM game I think '[x] would make that better/cooler/more efficient/like it should be" and I always have to voice those thoughts ;)

I am more the guy you ask "what can I add to [x]" :D
  9. I got so much done today. Really happy with my progress. I wrote tons of witty dialogue (I have to tell myself that, or I won't dare to write witty dialogue); I dreamt up and then realized the 2nd last town called E. Biza (the E. is short for Extravaganzeresortforwornheroesandprincessesontherunfromtheirprincewhoturnedouttobeafrogafterthefirstkiss, and that takes up so many letters...); and added sheep with random pitched baahs—where applicable, obviously. You wouldn't put a sheep in a pub. Or would you..?

    Spoiler

Nope, features won't be up for debate. I just don't have time for it, whether they want to tell me or not. I just need other eyes to catch any stupid mistakes.

This is why I'll have people play test my game too. I need people to break it, because I don't have the time to try every silly thing myself. Also, there will probably be logical missteps that will be hard to notice by myself, especially with such limited time.
  12. I'm not saying dont have people test you game. Far from it - people breaking your game is only a good thing - providing it results in the game being better...

But people always forget your asking them how the game is now - not how it could be in the future ;)
  13. I agree with Dekita. This is why I stopped letting my FAMILY and FRIENDS do the testing. (Isn't that sad...?) All they say is "You should do X" and "I think that Y would be a good feature".

When I explain to them that I don't WANT to know what they think I SHOULD add, but that I only want opinions on what is ALREADY THERE, they get butthurt.

"If you don't want my opinion then don't ask for it!" is the card played.  ARRRRGH people can be so difficult. Sometimes those closest to you can be your worst critics. -_- No matter HOW successful in life you becone, enough will never be enough to some of these people!
  14. Finding people good at giving feedback is really hard. It's an acquired skill: most people take feedback—both giving and receiving—personal. That's a huge mistake. It's not about the person when you're critiquing art: it's about the art.

The people I let test my game are people who do speedrunning. Nobody's better at breaking games :D
  15. The OST will be 100% complete and released by the late night. Events and all those goodies are coming along as well.
  16. Your game has a 100% original sound track? jolly good show ^_^
  17. Yep! About 13 tracks long. I haven't counted in awhile though. ^_^
  18. I still have so much to do. I feel like everyone is surpassing me :/

hopefully I am just being paranoid lol
  19. Oh, gosh. Where I have stuff done there are places I have left pretty bare at the moment. Believe me! D:
  20. lol yea I think for alot of people its going to be fratic at the last minute - having to cut things out and such. Hopefully people dont have to sacrifice too much of their games to get it done in time :)
