  1. Didn't make much progress yesterday. I got my list of bugs fixed, but not much headway otherwise. The medications for these hives had me feeling a little loopy, among other things.

So my goal today is to finish eventing the story part of it, so that someone could in theory start the game and work all the way through the story part. A big part of this will be making a big decision on how to get from point E to F (points A - D are already taken care of ;)  ). I'm trying to decide if I want to do it the wayit is in my head now, which would mean creating a big map with tiles I feel like I'm already struggling to work with anyway or to find a workaround. I think for the time being I'm going to have to go with a workaround, I'm just not sure what.

So that's my big goal for the day and then to just see what flows out of the brain. I won't get to do much of anything on it until later in the day, we've got a meeting for school this morning and some other fun stuff to do.
  2. Didn't really get much done yesterday, and I'm feeling really out of it today which is making it hard to concentrate at all... I may just throw together a quick little story that can work in a game setting rather than trying to mess with everything I've been trying currently. (it might just turn into a quick silly little story)
  3. And now I have....

    That is all.
  4. I have lots I want to get done today, but so far, all I've managed has been to fix bugs. Many of them created during last night's late night coding; this has been my perpetual face while going through it today:

  5. I've managed to get the entire first floor and sub basement done on my survival horror game. Implementing jump scares and traps as well as sprucing little bits of items throughout. Getting story arcs across five distinct characters is a bit tough, but I'm slowly getting there. It's only roughly about fifteen to twenty minutes of gameplay so far, depending on how quickly one can get through the miniscule amateurish puzzles.
  6. I've done quite alot today. Dont want to give anything away though. I will give more information further in the week as I finish certain elements :)
  7. I have created MAPSSSSSS.... Here are a few of my favorites... I have like, five left to do! HOMG

    Spoiler
Right now, the Library is the only map completed with all its events, the maze and the caves are not!PoPMaze.pngLibrary.png

  8. Mapping out the second floor of my game. Will be posting on my page once I can get this site( or my browser) to cooperate with me, lol. More pics and maybe even a demo soon? Hmm

    @ Iron Croc

Wow, those mazes are looking crazy, Nice!
  9. Okay, I don't know that I got anything accomplished that I set out to do, but I got something done. Mainly I compiled tilesets to gather a lot of pieces I need for an underground refuge area and continued work on that map. I didn't have as much time to work today as I'd hoped. Thankfully, my husband is going to take the kids out and about much of the weekend so I can hopefully power through and get a lot done.

Here is a sneak peek of the underground area. It still needs a bit of "stuff" but I like it so far. I've also started looking at a lighting script for it, but my eyes are glazing over so I'll have to think through that tomorrow.

And now for a question: I am struggling with how to transition from an interior area to this underground place. It would make the most sense to be able to travel around the city outside. But one, the game is only supposed to be around an hour long and I don't want to add too much more to it. Also, I'm really struggling with mapping this futuristuc exterior and I feel like everything I do is crap. Maybe because I'm trying too hard to make it look like a modern city instead of something unique? Anyway, the question is: Would it be weird to just transfer from an interior to another interior, that is implied is a distance away? Say maybe if there were some text or an image to convey the traveling without the player actually doing the traveling?
  10. My favorite way to get underground is: Through a well/reservoir/lake, Through a hidden passage in ______'s house....

And in a small field just outside of town...

    I hope this helps!
  11. Well, yes. And ideally this one would be accessed through the sewer. I just don't wanna map the exterior to get to the sewer. Because when I try my maps suck.
  12. I'm sure they don't! We all have our weaknesses and strengths. :D But, the simplest sewer entrance is simply through a manhole... climbing back out via a ladder :D
  13. Found a technique to make my game look 3D.

    It looks pimpin' now.
  14. You gonna share this technique after the contest?

    Mode 7 probably.
  16. Mode 7 isnt a technique though, its a script + dll.

To me, a technique would be more something like... replicate the whole screen at half opacity and layer it on top and a slightly jaunty angle ;)

Edit- there is another one as well, better looking than mode 7 - cant thin what its called but i will find it on this comp somewhere :p
  17. Today's goal I guess is to order a new part so I can hear my computer's sound again :p

Also, the addition of some scripts to make the game look better, and to fix the game's story based on feedback.
  18. Going to try to make this a marathon day. Goals? EVERYTHING!!! Okay not really but here are some big things:

    • Finally finish eventing the storyline.
    • Remap one of my areas. This will serve two purposes: One, give a bit more an a needed "escape" element at the beginning (running/hiding from guards, etc.). Two, I think it will aid the overall storyline better.
    • Finish mapping the underground area. This will mean more compiling/editing tilesets.
    • Lighting script installed and working.
    • Begin implementing battles. (I hate dealing with battle stuff, so I save it for last, lol.)
    • Maybe more? We'll have to see how productive this day is. And how long my husband keeps the kids out of the house, lol.

Yes, but then I still have map the outside and I don't want to!!!! :D   The actual entrance isn't the problem, it's the exterior mapping that's the problem. But I think some tileset editing will help.
  19. Expect a playable demo Monday evening.
  20. Oi, I'll make coffee.
