ADVENT: DAY 22 ~~ BIG GAME HUNTER!

With so many beasts running amok in our games, both small and large, fantastical and mundane, it only seems right that we would need a Big Game Hunter to spearhead our side quests to track down and defeat these beasts! I could think of no other real life character that embodies such a role than the 26th President of the United States, Theodore 'Teddy' Roosevelt himself. He was quite a character in his time, enjoyed boxing, was a colonel in the military, and of course, had a passion for hunting big game animals, going so far as to fund an expedition to Africa to do just that, among other naturalist endeavors, so I've heard. It seemed only fitting that the Big Game Hunter sprite be inspired in his image, and while I was at it I figured why not make Teddy in his Presidential garb as well, in case anyone was making a Period piece game or wanted a time-traveling Teddy as a summon or permanent member to knock some sense into some baddies. XD The sprite is made from the generator pieces, using a bit of minor editing, recolor, and pixel magic. The Expedition Hat was the Modern Hard Hat, recolored and edited to transform it into the beautiful hat it is now.

Of course such a such a busy man likely needs servants, and so, at the suggestion of @Avery, I figured why not whip up the Maid Flayer to assist the players or local powerful kings.

Teddy Roosevelt would honestly be a good real life person to spoof in writing. Seriously, if y'all haven't at least watched a documentary. What a person!

TEACUP!!! Oh, he's chipped. But he gets repaired on day 13. And the very next day come the full-sized charsets of Teacup, both default of last year and chipped/kintsugi (I learned a new word) of this. Being one of the many who fell in love with Teacup last year and one of the few who were actually brazen enough to ask for a full-size charset, I can't tell you how ecstatic I am. If this were your only gifts of this advent season, it would be more than enough and put me over the moon, but there was so much more.

My games are primarily math games made for my grandchildren. The latest game (middle school level) uses your beehive charsets of last year to find ratios of hives with honey to hives without. Now I have an honest to goodness beekeeper to give that quest and a honey chest to hold the rewards for a correct answer. I used last year's cloud biome for the Math Alchemist to collect electrons by answering multiplication questions using positive and negative numbers. That map will get a boost with this year's add-ons, especially the mountain tops. Over the moon and on my way to Mars.

The other charsets of axolotl, fire elemental, elephants (even a pink one) and mammoths, intellect devourers (brain suckers?), Midas touch (loved that statue with the glowing eye), mind flayer, elder brain, owlbear (freak of nature or a hybrid experiment gone horribly wrong), Teddy Roosevelt are all so well done. As are the Minecraft and viking themed tilesets. Speaking of vikings, those braids and curls of the female viking hair generator parts are really quite stunning!

As always, you create great stuff! Thanks for your work and dedication to the community! I do have one request, if possible, and I wouldn't be mad if you didn't want to do it, but; could you make one of these chests covered in slime instead of honey? I grew up as a kid in the 90's and my first thought when I saw these was Nickelodeon, Double Dare, basically green slime everywhere. Heh. I'd recolor them myself but the gold on the chest and golden honey would make it hard for me. Again, no biggie if you don't want to. Thanks for your work all the same! Pooh would approve!

@hiddenone - Thank you! X) I was thinking of adding two more outfits, one with Teddy in his military uniform and a recolor variant of his Presidential garb, because when I was researching his outfits I kept finding some where it was black and another where it looked brown.

@GalacticGod - Glad to hear that you loved it so much! I was particularly proud of how well the Expedition Hat came out myself. I thought it was going to be a lot more work than what it turned out to be.

@Ms Littlefish - He really was quite an interesting character! I've been wanting to delve more into learning about him myself. The stories I have heard are wild! Recently I was blown away when I found out he had written his own books, one on his expedition to Africa. I would love to read it.

@Lady_JJ - ...I don't quite know where to begin to respond! Thank you for such a lovely and detailed response. Don't feel that you were brazen for asking, it is quite alright. I feel a bit embarrassed actually because I meant to work on the default-sized Teacup earlier this year and then it totally slipped my mind until the Advent. I am glad though that you are enjoying Teacup in all of his variations. :) Kintsugi is fascinating, isn't it? I thought it was such a lovely practice and had to incorporate that into Teacup's character. It is so wonderful that you make educational games for your grandchildren. It's a fantastic endeavor. I hope they are enjoying them! Merry Christmas, to you too!

ADVENT: DAY 23 ~~ TEACUP ICONS + CHEST RECOLORS

Only one day left people! It's been a trip for sure full of excitement and a bit of anxiety, but here we are. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season. Now for what you're all here for, today's drop. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit, but I ran out of time to implement other ideas I had planned for this years Advent. While stressing about it, the wonderful @Avery suggested some easier tasks, and voila! We now have icons for Teacup to select from our inventories, in addition to the fabulous teacup icons that Avery made herself on her Advent Day 17! I honestly don't know why I didn't think about these before, given that Teacup was specifically designed as a backpack character. So thank you Avery for pointing out the obvious thing to me on what was still missing from our adorable companion.

The Teacup Icons come in multiple variations: Regular, Chipped, Kintsugi, without any outline, a black outline and a white outline for however anyone prefers to use this little guy.



Filling in a last minute wish request for @Dope, I recolored the honey-covered RTP chests from earlier in the Advent. So now we have a Muddy Chest, perhaps dug out of the ground or retrieved from a swamp? And two Slime-Covered variants, because those pesky Slime monsters leave their goo everywhere.

Oh my! Those are excellent! I wasn't sure if I'd get one but you came up with three! The slime ones have obvious use but the "muddy" one is sneaky useful as well. There are plenty of candy themed resources so that could easily be a chocolate covered chest! Then again, as I said I grew up in the 90's and I remember this little game called Conker's Bad Fur Day. That game had a stage full of brown "liquid", boss included, and it wasn't chocolate or mud!!! Lol. Thanks for the recolors!

Ouf! Apologies everyone for being a day late on this. Spent a wonderful day on Christmas Eve celebrating with the family and watching my children open their presents and go absolutely ballistic over them. I hope everyone else's Christmas holidays have been fantastic!

In the spirit of Christmas and gift-giving, I only thought my final Advent for the season should be related. And so...

ADVENT: DAY 24 ~~ MEDIEVAL CHILDREN'S TOYS

Toys! Or a lack thereof, caught my immediate attention in what was missing from the RTP. All those poor children are missing the delight of toys to play with and stimulate their imaginations--and cause trouble of course. So I set out to rectify that with a selection of building blocks, a hula hoop, jump rope, ball, wooden swords and a dragon pull toy! The toys are made of wood, rope and leather for the ball, of course, to simulate that medieval/fantasy setting when toys were handcrafted by a talented woodcutter. Perhaps a toy shop will be the next big thing to open in the town? What side quest can be crafted now around finding lost toys, or gifting them to the children of a poor village? Or they can be used as simple décor to clutter a children's bedroom. With that...

Christmas day has come and gone, but I am still wishing that everyone had a great holiday and will have a wonderful New Years too. It has been wonderful to be able to partake in this great tradition here on the forums. There was a lot of support along the journey, and once the Advent came the community has been nothing but wonderful with your love and supporting comments. You guys are great and I wish you the best.

Over the course of months leading up to this year's Advent, I had crafted a list of potential ideas for things to create. I did not get to make everything on that list, time and life would not allow, but from now leading into next year hopefully I can ride out this 'get-it-done-energy' and knock off more items off that list. If not, at least I have more ideas jotted down for next year. ;)

I wanted to start off by sharing an idea I had for a long time-- ancient machines. I've enjoyed games such as 'Skyrim' and 'Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' where there exists complex robots built by the mysterious forebears. And I've been left wondering, if MV and MZ were trying to get across the theme that the fantasy characters and Sci-Fi characters are one and the same, why did they not do the same for the machines?

Well, I'm here to correct that oversight. First by introducing the new (old?) Ancient Drone from SF_Monsters, featuring a bronze shell with orichalcum trim and various color lights, perhaps to signal the machine is on aggressive mode, or high alert, or they are controlled by a virus or other entity. Whatever your desires, we are still left with the question: what powers these mysterious creations? Is it magic? Is it power crystals? Or just really big batteries.
