You have an incredible amount of stats in there, how is it balancing for that?

I've been working on getting down the feeling of an ethereal forest for my game, and I think I've finally achieved that. There are a few things that I wanted to add and change, but with a simple single map this size it takes me about 5-6 hours to make even with years of parallax experience. One thing I'm concerned about is the amount of grassy area away from the trees. It makes it seem somehow not as dense as I'd like it, and I think I'll be changing this around for future maps. What do you guys think?

Really cool glows. And 6 hours to make an entire map with parallax is not bad... i can barely make a small parallax area in day or two.
  2. So I'm attempting to make my world map look as if there is a fog going over the land and tried to do it by adding a moving fog across the map and then adding lighting to make the mountain peaks poke through it and the floating island dip into it. Any ideas on how I could achieve the effect better?
Here is a rough illustration explaining it: explanationOfFog.png

And here is how it looks in game:

    you did a great job

There is a procedugal generation for that. Not sure if it's better, but you can always try.
    Khas Advanced Fog
  5. Create several small fog animations and have them randomly propagate on maps. You could do them non-random as well, like placing thicker fogs at special locations or seas or a ring of fog around a castle. The animated fogs could purposely contain shapes relevant to your game if you wanted... like a skull that forms momentarily then unforms. Just some suggestions that might add spice. I'm not an animator and have near-zero experience with related plugins.

Mog has a picture effects plugin with an option to bind a picture to map XY or an event. Since pics would be displayed above your fog layer you could have them "poking" up through the clouds and use a transparent gradient to give it the appearance of disappearing into the fog. Anywho, cool map.

I just recently finished one of the colorful maps that I made for my game. Does anyone remember that Panic! game where you have to figure out which one of the buttons is the right one? This puzzle is something like that.
  8. A couple of work in progress bits. These are more to show off the effort that goes in than showing you a finished product.

The first image is the very early work on a castle. Here I'm working to rough and blurry template as a guide to build my own. It's quite an effort to simply extend the roofs and keep everything looking sharp and crispy. I have to manually add highlights and recolour so the deferring graphics will eventually stitch together. I hope when all is done you'll appreciate it more.

In this image you can also see most of the original tiles that I'm working with. Hopefully you can see (on the rough layout) how much editing had to be done to create these basic assets.

The second is my world map. I've shared an earlier version of this before. I've got just shy of 30 maps added to it. There's more details on this in a previous post in this thread.

    Good luck peeps!
  9. Here is my first try of parallax mapping. It would be an optionnal hidden dungeon, an ruined tower in the forest. Credits to Avery and Tonbi

  10. So, I'm trying to create a Yume Nikki–styled game about dreams and similar themes, but one issue is that I can't draw. Maybe you could give me some tips on the maps Ive already made?
    Attached some pictures below

Might send more later, for now, what do you think about the maps? What should I do differently? What needs to be redrawn?
P.s. There's a HUD at the bottom of the screen.

So I'm only giving advice on things that I consider myself to have enough experience in to give advice so here goes. First map, I really like, it's a good example of not overdoing space and looking like what it's supposed to while having an artistic flair. The second map seems to be a little spread out so your eye wanders looking for substance. The third map reminds me of that area in Diablo II that kinda looks like it's in space / another dimension so I'm partial to it for personal reasons and can't give an accurate judgement, but for me - I like it. 4th map is really good and I think is a good example of what you are going for. The last map again like the 2nd map seems a bit spread out, try to add more stuff. Changes in elevation, overlapping objects etc? Sometimes clutter just for the sake of immersion that you think would look overbearing actually looks good, it's worth a shot until you can find what works for you.
  12. Im so thankful for your feedback! I will try my best to make those maps better. Any feedback could help me to make my game look better, so don't worry about experience. I need every opinion

  13. Just about finished my castle. It needs shadows still, but I just can't be bothered right now.

Edit: Just started work on my cathedral too. I'll put that in a spoiler.

  14. It's been a while since I do any mapping but here are some of the map in my game. I try to keep it simple.

  15. So i was sick. And my voice changed. I decided to not waste the opportunity and voiced tha bath in this scene that is a part of a parody of Beauty and Beast (warning, pure degeneracy!):

I am not a voice actor, so it's bad, and there is some bacgkround noise that my recording software was unable to cancel, but i still enjoy the result)

Sadly, could not find the rusty bath with spoiled water resourse, so let's just pretend it is)

But @utunnels made a broken toilet variation for me, so a lot of thanks for him!
  16. There is a combination of all my sets with my new event based water set for MZ and MV

  17. This still needs a little work. I should have extended more than I did, but I think I can live with it. As always I need to add shadows, but I hate doing the shadows.

I've updated this post to show off the revised proportions. I still think it needs to be a little longer. to the right. Obviously it needs windows on the upper floor and a few more details.

A bit annoyed. I was really liking this, but the proportions are all wrong I think. I was trying to make it smaller than the castle, but thought about it and did some Grok research to find that was dumb and back to front. It basically needs to be taller, wider and have a larger entrance block.

  18. Started UI work. Which do you think looks better?
I feel like it's kinda missing some pizzazz, just not sure what to add.
