some of my first maps. It's my first time really doing pixel art and I'm still not sure what to do with a lot of the empty space in the first one, so any feedback is highly appreciated :v)
I would suggest making your indoor environments significantly smaller. Perhaps even less than a quarter of their current size. Small, interesting rooms are the way forward.

curtains (also windows) and the ladder is great, floor is also good (as well as the door frames)

Been a while since I've posted in this thread! Mapping is not my strong suit, but I'm trying to improve and wanted to share some dungeon room ideas. Open to any feedback!

I'm definitely going for a NES-era Zelda feel with smaller individual rooms. But I'm trying to avoid the maps looking too basic or repetitive due to smaller size and simple tileset.

This is really similar to the vibe I was going for when I started and somehow veered completely away from. I love it.

    This is where I've landed:

I was hoping for a vibe check on whether this is an appealing style. I'm not a pixel artist... or really an artist at all, so it's been a struggle.I'm going for a desaturated, depressing look. Still very WIP.
  4. @arcthemonkey I really like it. The variety of building materials looks nice, and I like the little details like the blades of grass and the rock clusters. I definitely get gloomy farm town vibes.
  5. I've added some visual effects to the two rooms from last time.
Also I think I need to make a correction on the "abandoned" description I mentioned previously. It's definitely not the right word. The place is supposed to look like somebody suddenly "disappeared" and it's been left that way for at least a few years. There are a few sprites and interactive items I've yet to put in still so things like large spider webs and maybe some peeling walls? I'm not sure yet, so any ideas/pointers are helpful!

  6. So while I was developing my Game, this is my first interpretation of the map of the first part of the Overworld

I wonder should I make a totem or something allowing the player to teleport to any location or just used this as only like cutscene purposes?1742058435923.png

Dude, this is so similar to something I've been working on. I wasn't going to post it because it's a way off from being finished, but seeing this makes me want to share. Yours looks really nice, I love the windows and doors. Are they free assets? If so, I'd love to nab them off you or at least know where you got them from. I'll try to reciprocate to the best of my abilities, but I use a lot of Celianna's tiles and don't know which parts I can and can't share.

The tileset is from a paid set from nekura you can find it on his website just google "nekuramap" its the first result (the japanese one ;))
  10. A cozy backstage\dressing room with quite jumpeabale bed.
Most of the pieces here are from the gothic tileset by Xenophero-M.

As for @Lomaxient - you can check a free comshou's Arabian Tilesets, maybe it will work for your needs. It's in simillar style, not as tiny - but i guess you can try to resize.

It would seem that windowskin editing is more intricate than I thought.

Also, is this the right place for this sort of ramdom post, or should I leave it to my status posts?
    need any help fixing that?

Stealth roguelike and Sekiro vibes! Hide yourself or downed enemies in shadows, disguises, enemy reinforcements, environmental hazards, hidden areas, parkour traversal, combat and exploration tools, and item retrieval upon death. Also epic boss fights :D WIP proof of concept

A game where you can assasinate the car >_<

But seriously, that's quite impressive gameplay, and the camera shifts upon entering rooms looks cool.
All the chaotic movements and tons of enemies chasing the protag remind me a bit of youtube cartoon ninja action - recommend watching for inspiration)
Also i feel like it would be a good idea to give a kick ability with certain cd. Should be fairly easy to implement, and kicking opponents into various damaging tiles could be fun.
  13. @ElDoc totally reminds me of MechGears by @BK-tdm, recommend checkin' that out if you haven't already! :kaoluv:

Hey that's a great idea! Was trying to add a blocking resposte but had some script conflicts. I'll make the kick a skill with knockback instead :D

oh wow @alice_gristle BRING ON THE STEALTH GAMES!!

Soon hopefully. Working on different enemy types (made a ranged one last night that switches to melee if youre close) and I may have a demo soon to test combat and balancing.
  17. A while ago I posted a video here of my tree making factory. I wanted to share the whole project as an asset, because it allows for basically infinite tree variations. It's all modular, so you can customize them add fruit to 'em & with a little work, create custom shadows.

Unfortunately these are all mods of Panda Meru's stuff, so I can't post the project without her consent. Unless she ever responds to me I can't share it.

Anyway, I just got started on the winter variations. They're more time consuming to make and I haven't fixed up all the shadows yet. Had to add a watermark to this demo to prevent theft.Trees.jpg

p.s. This is a tiny fraction of the full project.

In the dungeon that I'm working on, the miners have built themselves a small place to shelter.
