Which of these two do you prefer? I decreased both of them by a bit.

@ZombieKidzRule It's some torn up yellow paper. I'll replace it with something else if it's not very clear.
This style reminds me of fallout 1 .

So I've figured out a new way to do trails in my game which makes them look infinitely better imo. Parallaxing roads and trails always seemed "off" to me until I finagled this method today.

  2. Just started my perilous volcano level this week and thought I'd share the early progress of that. Just the basics done so far, but I did the shadows early this time and I've got a bunch of assets and textures that should make this map look exciting.

  3. I don't post here very often, but maybe I should get started again. I guess you could consider this progress to that effort.

  4. I don't think I have posted in this thread before. But since I have gotten some valuable feedback in my Games in Progress thread or when I post in my status feed, I thought I would give posting here a try as well to see if I can gather more opinions. I have already incorporated some suggestions and I really think the UI improved because of it.

Here are the current designs of the custom UI for my Sudoku game. I still have a few more to make.

I am interested in any feedback from a player's perspective. I am still working on a few of the themes to make sure they are visible on the most variety of backgrounds.

    Thanks!

  6. @csevans84 the design is stylish and retro! :kaoluv: Colours are good too. :wub Cud I persuade you to work on yo font more, tho? Also, didja resize this from an incompatible resolution? Sayin' 'cuz there's a bunch of squiggly and squished faces that haven't translated optimally!
  7. Optional dungeon in 3-Bit Explorer :)

This are the two teaching rooms of the dungeon, where you learn how to open the doors that you'll encounter. The first one teaches and the second one reafirms what you've learned in a small environment. After that, the dungeon will open up with other puzzles and mechanics around the opening of those doors.

    What do you think?
  8. Newest screenshot of Waste-Town and the outskirts, there's still a loooooot of progress to go. NPCs who are on top of buildings are going to be inside them, but I haven't made the interiors yet.

  9. @cthulhusquid beeeeg map:kaoswt: Congrats on makin' all the different places have touches of unique personality! :wub I wud think it makes it that much easier to navigate. I wud hate it as a player to have such a big map, and have it be all big mush without landmarks. Gettin' lost in a bad way wud be too easy!

Duuuude! 78mb? I'm a sucker for hi-res images, but this is ridiculous! Displaying it felt like I was running on dial up modem. It's an interesting map, but there are a few unforgivable errors kicking around. Your doors need aligning to start.

You probably already know that because work in progress is work in progress.

Still, I didn't even think you could upload a file that big here. I recommend Jpeg conversion if you're gonna share huge maps for demonstrating your stuff.

It's so cool seeing a game come to life with FX and sound. If I saw a still of this, I'd be like "meh, moving on". Seeing it in motion though, wow it really pops!

The doors are actually lined up, the script I used to take a picture of the map misaligns them, idk why. I uploaded the picture to Catbox.moe because it allows for larger pictures than here or Imgur. Besides the obvious things like doors, npcs on top of market stalls, map details, and map effects like glows missing, what problems did you spot?

I did have a script that allows you to look around the map, but I got rid of it because it would take all the fun out of exploration. Still, I'm trying to have pathways go to different areas, and if players want to explore beyond those they can.
  12. @SleepingYellowCreature I love yo blue and red colour scheme, honey! :kaoluv: What program did you use to make 'em? Cud I entice you to pay a li'l bit of extra attention to corners? Sumthin fuzzy goin' on there. Also maybe you cud try 'n do a resize of yo character dude, or is they there just for testin' purposes? 'Cuz right now they look like they been hit by a low-power shrink ray :kaoswt:
  13. Well, I am ready to try opening myself up to wider criticism, Rough draft, first pass, and all that stuff.
Due to how I am handling lighting, an ingame screenshot would just be a single room surrounded by black, but a few second long video showing off the introduction of the first boss shows off what I am aiming for.
  14. @Norintha what's the weird li'l extra screen that pops up when you enterin' the room? Does it gotta be there? I'm on the fence, dunno if it's distracting or not... :kaoswt: Overall yo lighting effects lookin' good tho! Also, yo zombie is called GORDON!?
  15. I originally started using that animated popup window as an extra clue that something off screen has happened, but started liking the idea of them. I grant that they may be too distracting to use for something on screen. Seeing it in video now, I need to resize the window down a few pixels as it's overlapping the choice menu. >.>
  16. @Norintha I'd say that keep 'em for now and get more intel before you decide?

Thank you!, I'm using Aseprite for the whole game, as for the corners, do you mean the corners of the rooms or the corners of the sprites themselves? and for the character, I made a taller version but had collision problems so I delayed it for now until I can get it to work properly, and again thanks for the feedback!
  18. @SleepingYellowCreature I think it's just the corners of yo rooms, but I had a couple 'n now I can't be sure  Anywayyy... maybe just pay attention and clean up any stray pixels you find? :kaoluv:
  19. any feedback on this outdoor map before i go into lighting it? some addtional stuff is missing from this screenshot btw but not alot
