2 or 4.I have an opinion on my favorite, but I have a feeling that my preference might not be what the average player would like.
So, as a player, which of these would you prefer?
Number 3 is too busy, but more importantly lacks contrast between the text and the background in several instances.
To be honest I think 1 is probably the best, but I'm guessing you don't want to hear that. -
@Lomaxient Actually, I liked the original version, but it isn't consistent with the new UI that I am using so I thought it might stand out as being weird. I would have to modify the borders a bit, but it is still a viable option based on feedback.
-
@Lomaxient I liked the number 2 and 4. Number 3 have a contrast problem with the background, the reading of the buttons was a little compromised.
-
I like 1 and 2! 2 has a very tidy look to it, but I like the detailed borders of 1 better. That said, I like that 2's buttons are fully enclosed (vs how 1 has open sides). I think the all-white text is easier to read--but if you were to make some of those colors lighter, I think you could keep it. "Victorian" is much easier to read than "Castles," at least on my particular screen. Here are examples of the Background Categories Menu for my Sudoku game.

I'm not sure how exactly you've set up these screens, but you might be able to combine the two styles to end up with buttons that have the pretty borders, but are also fully enclosed. But that's just how I, personally, would over-complicate it XDDD -
Trying to plan out the layout of my town. Considering exchanging the Gym with the Police Station so they have access to the Helicopter Pad....Maybe im overthinking this xD
-
@Willibab maybe the police station was there before helipads existed, and these folks just like their history? Plus movin' a station... lotta work, phew :kaophew:
-
Road Market work in progress. I did so much tileset editing today...
-
It looks wicked, but I think you've over done the colour tinting a little. Maybe tone it down by about 10-20%
-
@Willibab I just want to know how the freakin school gets to have a beach in front of it. Darn spoiled kids these days, Zombie says while shaking his cane.
@cthulhusquid Looking good. Just one question since I can't tell. What are the white pieces next to the tent stall in the lower left corner? I'm assuming it is something broken, but I can't image what it would be. -
Funny you should say that because it's loosely based on a real city where I went to school :)@Willibab I just want to know how the freakin school gets to have a beach in front of it. Darn spoiled kids these days, Zombie says while shaking his cane.

Which of these two do you prefer? I decreased both of them by a bit.It looks wicked, but I think you've over done the colour tinting a little. Maybe tone it down by about 10-20%
@ZombieKidzRule It's some torn up yellow paper. I'll replace it with something else if it's not very clear. -
I think I like the second one a bit more, though the difference is rather small.Which of these two do you prefer?
-
Honestly, the tweak is so subtle I can't tell the difference. I guess you're going for a drab and dreary look anyway. I'd just caution against washing the colour out too much. It's all just a matter of personal taste at the end of the day.Which of these two do you prefer? I decreased both of them by a bit.

Still working on this Galleon of mine. It's getting there, slowly but surely. There's a bunch of issues that are easy to spot, but hopefully, I'll get them ironed out eventually.
Galleon - New Sails - Rough.
Getting the shadows sorted and little details done. Nearly there!
Galleon - Shadows and Details -
It was a bit too yellow before like you said, so I think it looks better now. Yeah I am going for a dusty, bleak vibe like the classic Fallouts on the outside maps, the interior maps still retain a bit of grey but are generally more colorful.Honestly, the tweak is so subtle I can't tell the difference. @cthulhusquid I thing the overall appearance and aesthetic are great!
But now that Zombie has seen something...just now...he can't unsee it.
Is it just Zombie and it being too early in the morning or do all the lights on the back wall look like underwear?
Now that the mental association has been made, I can't unsee it.
But I love the details. And I love the way that character on the upper right is laying. -

Pfft, never seen underwear lamps before? You need to get out more xD -
What a difference one day can make! Today has been great for thinking about how the Castle Town will look. I started out with grey roads, like old cobblestone type road, but everything looked grey in the castle town because of it!
So, while I was playing around with making the roads more decorative, I decided on red after placing down some "bike lanes," and now it looks great! I can imagine what it would look like if I had a view from the center street and if there were trees in the medians, looking toward the (soon to exist) Castle in the background. I said I'd be drawing inspiration from European designs for this area, and I think the road design does a lot of the work. (WIP NOTHING IS FINAL just plotting things out right now!)

Clearly, that's not all I've done, and this isn't all that I will do (that would be boring lol) but it was one of the things that really got me going today.
...No, I'm not going to explain the funny jokes I'm putting in the map yet!
