WIP title screen for my side project (because you're not an RM dev until you have side projects that you KNOW you should save for later... >.> )
Of course the whole thing's animated, I'm just hopeless when it comes to sharing videos of stuff.
Something about the title text is off to me, tho, and I can't put my finger on it...the colour? The font? Looking for some other opinions on it.

@Cythera I think the title itself is too small and therefore it feels insignificant. tbh, I also find the font for the title a bit too fussy for my taste. I am also wondering how readable it would be for anyone whose first language was not English.
-
@fop I see a lot of cool details in your screenshots and I generally like them very much.
But my first thought on the first one was why is that poor person perched on the roof!
These are far better than I could do. Awesome job! -
I think you're right there, @Kes
I tried 2 other fonts. I prefer the first one personally. Now I'm wondering if I need to change the 'new game/continue/etc' font

I got a functional demon negotiation system inspired by SMT working using entirely common events!
When using the NEGOTIATE command, a large branching dialogue tree appears for each demon with multiple outcomes. The goal is to form a contract with them so that the human party member that negotiated with the demon can unlock their class and learn their skills.
This is the first post I've made about my game, it's been my personal project that I've invested countless hours in. Currently I have a first draft of the intro done and 30 minutes of gameplay footage, but I'm a tad lost on where the best place to share it is as I'm a perfectionist and I feel like it's nowhere near the quality I want it to be for it to have a post in Games In Development :kaoswt2: -
@Cythera The Title in the first spoiler isn't centered, so it looks a bit off. But I like the larger font size.
I like the actual font style of the 2nd spoiler and it is more centered, but I think it should be a larger size and take up more of the screen.
Just my opinion.
@casteco Your screenshots look very cool and your Common Event negotiating system sounds awesome! -
@ZombieKidzRule
:LZSlol: haha I was wondering if anyone would mention about him being on the roof! -
@casteco, your font looks so, so nice! :kaoluv: I guess if you don't want to make a thread about yo game, you cud post a pic here now and then!
-
@Cythera I too prefer the font in the first spoiler and would also prefer it centred. One of the things that I think works for that font, because it ties in with the title, is that it looks as if the font becomes darker as you go up. If you go for that font, I see no reason to change the font in the command box.

More mappings!
And a bonus:
-
I just enjoy what you can make with the RTP style :3

Hi!
I just did the map for the first Inn in the game, when the main character will be introduced. Im a newbie, what is your feedback?
Thanks in advance!
-
I'm not very good at mapping, but this looks nice to me. With food on the tables, I would think there would be more NPCs though.
-
@TheVorkosigan Looks good to me, is the art self-made? I like the style.
Throwing out one of my own.
-
Thought I'd share a screenshot of my work in progress. This is one of the side scrolling areas in the caves.
-
And one of my main map screen...

What do you think looks better? The wall layers not having lighting, so they are just default color, or where everything has equal lighting? In these pictures, all have the exact same lighting gradient save for the wall tops. Which looks better?
-
I prefer "shadow" upper walls. It all blends together well.
-
Shadow upper walls feels most atmospheric.
-
I prefer shadow upper walls.
Could I make a suggestion? If you're asking people to choose between different styles I personally find it most helpful if those different styles are illustrated using exactly the same map. Then I can see the difference without having to discount things like different layout, different sources of artificial light and so on.
