What kind of game is this? Like what do you do in it? It looks interesting and I love ISO stuff.

It's not a game, just a short demo to show the kind of graphical and gameplay style my main project is going to be like. I'll be releasing the demo some time this week.
  2. I was about to post my maps, but damn, I feel ashamed when I look at yours guys.
    Your maps are great!
  3. @Alanood Don't be ashamed!
This topic is not a contest, it's here to help people improve their maps. We'll be happy to help you too :thumbsup-right:
  4. Was spending a lot of time to remake the building system, add more object to the farm land and stuff.

    Beautiful stuff! :)
  6. @dsiver144 That tileset is so beautiful! Where does it come from? Or did you make it yourself?
  7. Homecoming. Because who doesn't love crappy school dances, amirite?

  8. @dsiver144 Looks really awesome! But I have to say that tree in the background (behind the barn) looks weird in perspective.

A new exploratory map we made recently. How does it look?

  9. @SomaelCK Oh, thanks for pointing it out for me xD
Btw, your map looks very nice and unique. Just notice that you released the game. Gonna give it a shot sometime. :D
  10. Here's a first look at the first map from my game Princess In A Bind. A comedy-adventure game staring Princess Katarina the next in line of the Canopy Throne and the main Heroine of this adventure.

  11. Not really showing off a map here - but I'm pretty happy with how this came out. It's just a test event, but I plan to have a few of these in my game.

One thing I have to say, is I have a really... bizarre imagination. Ask me to come up with a cool name for a Fire spell, and I might struggle for hours. But then I'll just randomly come up with an idea for the most ridiculous character ever.

And that's just what Meathook "Meat" Koloski is. He's a former prize-fighter who resembles Butterbean, has the mannerisms of Curly, and probably the voice of Gilbert Gottfried. And when he's in your party, he loves to regale the rest of the party (or the player) with tales of his glory days as a fighter. Except that... his sport is just plain weird. Each story reveals more and more oddball rules, such as the referee having the ability to throw down a reverse card at any given time (first one to lose, wins). There's title fights that are essentially mud wrestling, except that time they forgot to order the mud, and had to use slightly rancid gorgonzola sauce instead. It's not quite boxing, and it's not quite wrestling either.

Where I came up with this, beats me.

Anyway - there's a whole line of quests centered around this character, and they're all pretty much comic relief. Lots of absurd, slapstick type stuff happens when this guy is around. Anyway - I love this character so much, I felt like his quests needed a special intro.

(The map shown, quest, quest name, and all of the dialogue are just for testing purposes, and aren't actually part of the game. But I enjoy the reference!)
  12. @dsiver144 : Very colorful the map and the style is comic. I like it, you made it very solid!

@Lorezne: I'm really looking toward your game to play. It's so beautiful and unique!

@SomaelCK : Remind me of Digimon anime... I don't know why.

@Uzuki : Remind me of a certain saga of Bleach :v. But I feel like you need to structure better. I mean, it's pretty basic, my impression.

@AsuranFish : Very funny this hahah, I like it.

  13. @AsuranFish That map, sorry but it needs significant work, imo.
It is far, far too big. Why do you need all that empty space? Think of a bed as your standard of measurement - one tile wide, 2 high. So that's 3 feet by 6 feet. Then count the number of tiles you have there. I get the floor to 21 tiles wide and 12 tiles high. So that one room is 63 feet wide and 36 feet high. You could fit a whole RL house in that amount of space.

That map is just kind of an event testing room. Not part of the actual game. I was only posting to show the Quest Intro screen.

I'll be looking forward to it.

@dsiver144 That screenshot is very beautiful oh my goodness
@Lorenze That reminds me of Undertale haha and I love it
@SomaelCK Is that water a multiple parallel mapping?

Here is the default playmat for my game that you use to battle against other deck masters (DM). Not the final draft, but something I did for now. This isn't a mock-up for the HUD or anything, it's just the playmat. Can be used in battlebacks2 folder. The HUD will involve plugin and different folder.

There is also a shop in my game where the DM can buy different playmats to use. You, the player, can also unlock different DMs to use. Each DM comes with their own strengths and weaknesses and has a health bar below their portrait (can be seen in the attachment).
  16. @Kvothe Thank you! :D
Btw, your Quest menu is absolutely professional. I love the design, the color of text, background and those orange lines is really nice. Keep up the good work!
@Mihe Oh, thanks very much! xD
Hope to see more from your game.
@Uzuki Your map looks good now but I feel like it's still missing something... Maybe should add some dired grass?
  17. Heya there, folks! I thought I could post some of my maps, since everyone else is. They're a number of areas i'm using for my RPG, and would like to get a little feedback and suggestions on what to add to them. There are many of these so hang tight!

  18. Heyo! Here's a before and after of my first town and then my attempt at redoing it a week later to make it less amateurish. I'm still tweaking it, I've got some empty space to fill and obviously some doors to put on but I'm proud of how much progress I've made with mapmaking.

  19. @GuiltySlug That is indeed an improvement. I'd like to suggest a couple of things.
At the moment your steps have exactly the same number of tiles as the cliff face. That effectively makes them a ladder, as they would have to rise vertically to do that. You need to have the steps 'longer' than the cliff is high. Here is an example of a simple way that it can be done. All it is is making an indent so that there is an extra steps tile. [Used snipping tool, so a bit blurry.]
    upload_2018-6-26_5-27-29.png

The second thing is, I think you have too many trees. Those ledges look crammed, and trees would not grow so densely on such a confined space (which is likely to have thin soil as well). The trees behind the house top right would be right up against the windows, as there is no space for them to be anywhere else. Nope, the people in that house would have taken them down. And talking of space, the house lower down on the right is slap up against the cliff wall at the back. Again, no one would build a house like that. I'd move it down at least one tile, and that will help fill your space without having to use trees.
