  1. @IguanaGuy I merged your post with the Game & Map screenshots thread. Videos of your game belong here as well.

  2. A sneak peek at the opening of the game. Room design is still a WIP. (God, I hope this GIF loads correctly for y'all...)

And just a lil something extra because, y'know, same.

  3. @Lorenze
Wooow that underwater effect looks amazing! How'd you even do that?
Also love the black and white retro tileset.
  4. I've recently tried the new PVG assets, and I can tell they're wonderful!

A quick map, the capital city's Market District in my project (well, a part of it)

  5. @Elissiaro - Thank you! It's mostly achieved with a plugin from Kamesoft with some additional post-processing added to it.

@Davekron - I like it! I could see it being really lively and fun to explore once you add in all the NPCs. Some of the building shadows (particularly the tower at the bottom) look a little off, though, maybe you could reduce the opacity by a smidge?
  6. @Lorenze Hmmm, I'll try it
  7. Hello guys!
Here's the map from my project, its a medieval peasant's house :kaohi:

    Criticism are welcome:rock-right:IMG_9483.jpg
  8. @Kim_Shyuen i think it looks really good! very pleasing to the eye. only thing i'd say is that the small sprite size looks a little out of place when compared to the scale of the map (height of the walls, window placement, etc.)
  9. @Kim_Shyuen Wow, it's lovely! Although, somehow that little guy and the overall map doesn't fit together. Maybe the character sprite is just too small for my eyes :)

The map is beautiful to look at! One consideration, though: you say that this house belongs to peasants, but depending on how poor they're supposed to be, you might want to rethink the amount of nice furniture they have. They've got several fluffy beds, a large table and a full set of chairs, multiple shelves/cupboards, colorful drapes, sturdy stone walls, and a nice tidy wooden floor. They're even taking care of potted plants indoors, rather than using those resources on seeds which could produce extra crops for eating/selling. The fact that you've included piles of hay and other farming materials indoors makes me think that they don't have enough money/land to construct a shed, though, which contradicts the impression the other objects in the home send. If you draw an imaginary line down the middle of the house, you might mistake the right and left halves for different buildings.

If you are indeed trying to convey a sense of poverty, maybe swap the beds for straw mats, remove the cupboards in favor of scattering pots/pans/etc. in piles along the floor, take out most or all of the chairs, shrink down (or even remove) the table, and make the floor/drapes a little less pristine. Depending on just how poor you want to make them, you could change the materials the walls and floor are made of, too. If you want these peasants to trend more toward middle class, I'd personally pull the farming materials out and maybe build them a barn outside of their home. Maybe it makes more sense in the context of your game, but I can't really get around the contrast between the halves of the house from this screenshot alone.
  11. @Kim_Shyuen Depending on the sort of era that your game takes place in, peasants usually had one of two ways of dealing with things. If it was a two story house, the people lived on one floor while the animals live on the first floor (which was made out of dirt). If they had animals living with them in the same room, they usually had a dirt floor as apparently animals and wooden floors were bad for each other. Another thing to consider is that windows were expensive during those days, so you could consider small windows and ones without 'glass' with plan shutters. I think the amount of furniture you have is pretty good as peasants were known to make their own furniture.
  12. Working on a new menu scene. Still WIP, but getting there.

Edit: Added a few things that were missing so the menu doesn't feel so empty :thumbsup-right:

  13. @Kim_Shyuen One final thing - not even nobility had curtains at the windows in that era.
  14. @Kaelan I really like your menu, it´s well ordered and tidy.
I don´t know what you have planned to add in the future but I would like the icons on the left to be displayed slightly diagonal.
That would fill the blank space and would look good to me.

Or maybe another idea would be, that the icon which is selected by the player moves to the side.

  15. Transition into battle. This effect has actually been implemented for awhile, but I figured I'd show something cool for today. What do you guys think?

Also, did you love the awfulness of middle school? Great! Now you can relive its pain in glorious video game form.

I'm planning on adding a pointer cursor on the left side of the icons, which would move the current icon to the right a bit, and adding text for the currently selected option on the right side of the icon. I think that might help fill up the space a bit.

I might also look into doing something with the background. It feels a little bland as is, but I'm not entirely sure what to do with it yet. Maybe a silhouette of something, or a logo of some kind.
  17. Strangers of the Power 2 first character spotlight

  18. Some great stuff being made in here! :)
  19. My my, the last few pages are loaded with amazing screenshots. Great job you guys!

For my screenshot, I decided to make something new to challenge myself. Using a small custom palette I kept experimenting until this little scenery came out. :)
