I'm updating a little early, but hey it should be cool.
Since I finished my first game and am raring to go, I decided to start work on a full length game with an equal gameplay/story mix. Since it's going to be full length and not to just get stuff done I'll be working on a lot of the graphics myself.
First off I needed some unique colors to use for my pixels, so I made a color palette with a maximum of 24 colors. I'm going to challenge myself with limited, odd colors.
Palette:
I had about an hour and a half and I'm really slow with pixel art (I also haven't done it in about two years), but I got some of my ground tiles done + a wall. Here's an image that showcases them with their colors:
As for the game's story, I'm still going through a lot of it in my head. I'm still in gameplay mode, so I already have tons of new features and upgrades from my last game. This current game is going to be a prequel to my first game which will showcase what happens just before the world goes to Hell.
There will be two main characters the player can choose from, who will each have different growth and attack styles, almost making the game seem like it'll be two in one; there'll already be two tales in one about a male assassin and a masked female hero. (I like giving the player a choice on gender haha)
I'll get into it more tomorrow as that's when I'll really be brainstorming for it.
On the graphics side I'll keep working on tiles, probably some object tiles to help bring my work to life and motivate me to keep on going. I'm not looking forward to making anything remotely human shaped, but I'm in it 'til the end!
So anyway, What I learned today:
Grass tiles are a heck of a way to reintroduce myself with pixels.
