@kenjivn14 that's a sweet system. What'd you use for the thirst, hunger, etc. menu? And that looks like it'll be a pretty interesting game. Best of luck to you ^_^.

@TheGreatEater I planned and wrote a game document for it. I can't reveal much.
-
@kenjivn14 , understandable.

Had to redo the eyes, since they were looking flat and lifeless. Now it looks vibrant and pretty ^_^. Need to work on my lighting to bring out more shadows (some reason my two light planes are showing up as 3 light sources XD), and then work on the eyelashes ... might rework the mouth to an actual mouth. Or might leave it as is, just alter the color to be more fitting.
And I'm still pounding away on the body. Want to make a Puni type body ... so mostly diffuse but just enough of a candy like gloss to give it a bit of a shine. So ... lots of work, but it's fun so far. -
Ended up spending all day today on eyes. I was looking this morning and even though you can't see it in the above pic, there is a slight error in the ring around the iris.
So after fixing that, and making it uniform. I decided to just hammer those out. Ended up so far with 3 purples (including the above color scheme), and 3 reds. Going to end up with 3 of Red, Blue, Green, Purple, Yellows (including orange), and Browns. The real challenge is finding the right shades of colors to act as the over shadow (which you can see as the dark gradient on top) as well as two color accents (in the above pic is the wine and pink shades next to the bottom color). -
Had a pretty unproductive week overall, but I'm back on track.
Progress Update:
- made a list of things I need to do/plan/design in order to save time down the line
- began working on the side stories, some overall notes and where which converge at which points in time. I might end up cutting a few characters and/or calls because I somehow ended up with 6 possible calls per procrastination opportunity (4 of those total), which might be a bit boring, no matter how well I manage to pull off the dialogue. Possibly start thinking on ways to increase variety before I grab the machete, though, to at least keep some of the interactions in; maybe combine them at appropriate points, or just let Ned receive some messages/photos instead (he can't reply, though, because I do want to get this game done one day xD)

my goal is to complete 3 maps this month (mapping + events).
I'm also working on a plugin to build a GUI editor for a skill tree system that I would like to complete this month.
Done! First time I've actually accomplished a monthly goal I think -
Some progress here ; all character sprites as well as facesets are done for mission II.7. Only the final cutscene and boss of the mission remain; I need to draw the boss' side view actor, create his skills and calculate his stats.
The next step will be to prepare the release of the new version, doing the same as for Chapter I, complete rework of the download files, as well as the corresponding changes in the launcher.
But as I said, it will be done before the end of the year ! -
Progress Update:
- did some sketching to narrow down a few NPC designs (and fill up a page in my sketchbook while I'm at it). I finally found a direction I'm happy with for two in particular, so that's nice
-
@Chiara Nice! ^^ It means you'll show us a peek soon?
@everyone MERRY CHRISTMAS! Sorry I am having a cold so I am energy low to create now -
Merry Christmas to you people. In the meantime I managed to release v4.01 of my game, efficiently finishing the mission II.7.
And for some reason, my motivation has reached a new height, hence i'm already done with one third of mission II.8 ! Perhaps because I'm getting closer to an area I wanted to map for a while, planet Jigoku, the frozen hell.
@Marquise* : Take some rest if you have a cold, or else DC won't let you use the computer ;) -
@Schlangan Ah! That was why I received so much attention from her without her ever purring and her trying to call me to bed. :p MrC jumped the band wagon too. ^^ Ah at least I tackled one or two of my fears. (I am better now and since she almost hurt herself sleeping at my feet then under them, I was surprised that finally this morning I got her a back rub with my toes when I got up.)
-
Equip interface, can drag and drop items into the slot.

Today ended december, also nearly completed the map

First of all, happy holidays, and soon a happy new year. It's been some time since I posted here.
For the past few weeks I've:
-polished up my game 'Present Night' before submission time for the game jam (by salt on itch.io) ended. It's improved a lot! A lot of unnecessary events were scrapped and changed. And I re-added my mother language Dutch to the game. Only 3 events less, and I could've submitted my game to the One Map Game Challenge. I've been thinking about having more languages for the game lately... :kaophew:
- played and rated all games from said jam, some were pleasantly polished and detailed:kaoblush:
-made an entire mv pack of atari-esque art assets for a game... I'm not sure what to do with that pack now that the game's canceled.:kaoswt2: I still have to think about that. -
Found a new free tool to do fast NPC. Spent all night on it XD
-
The last day of year. Okay, let's keep trying the next year. Progress of city design is half
List MAP -
Spent most of my time ignoring the holidays and trying not to let it show too much toward people who actually like them, so not much energy was left over for productivity. But it's almost over, finally!
So, minor progress update:
- a few more very rough sketches (nothing showable, sorry @Marquise* , but I'll show something once I have a few prettier sketches x) )
- a lot of stuff in my head (I really should write it down sometime), especially in regards to some NPCs (ignore the names, it's just easier for me to write that way). Will probably either fully cut Aaron or give him only one call. Fleshed out Zal some more (it was her I sketched, too), and decided on the basic content of her calls. Decided on what Cavis is doing with her day and fleshed her out more in the process. Might cut Lijkah or Kinna or both. Will most likely just put two characters into one call if appropriate to save more time, as well
- a few more very rough sketches (nothing showable, sorry @Marquise* , but I'll show something once I have a few prettier sketches x) )
-
Finished reworking the Greenhouse and Barn:
Gonna redo/update the game thread later on today or tomorrow. -
Progress Update:
- actually wrote down the stuff in my head. I combined a few calls, cut some others, and now I have three full-length calls per procrastination opportunity, with up to three additional short calls
In any case, I made good progress this month (read: progress at all), so overall I'm pretty happy.
See you next year! : D -
Working on a promotional video for my game, got the primary component of it (the mayor's speech) done just now. Here it is, for whoever would like to read it <3
SpoilerCitizens of Chicago. People of the world, if you happen to be listening.
This is your mayor speaking. My name is Rahm Israel Emanuel. You can just call me Rahm.
For now, I will keep it simple: a lot has changed over the years. Not just this country, this nation. Not any one region you care to name.
All of us have. Were we to look into the mirror right now, we would be seeing a different person entirely. The world, as a whole,
is different. Politics, media of all sorts, news,\. movements... to say we are not making steps towards a better society is a
falsehood. Or, at least, we're attempting to.
2018 is coming to a close. This decade as a whole will shortly follow. These last 10 years have been simultaneously a period of change,
and a period of great confusion. Sorrow. Conflict. Acceptance is the song that many are singing right now. At a
glance, we seem to be understanding each other. Kindness is regarded, as least in certain circles, as an important virtue. A way
of life. When you really get down to it, peace is all we ought to seek at this point. Human life would be so much easier, right?
The thing I am noticing, however... is that we are still in a state of perpetual friction.
Were it anyone specifically, I would not be on this podium, besmirching their name in front of millions of people. Whether they be
standing right here, outside of the city hall, or sitting comfortably on their couches. It should not need to be said, but that
would not be the actions of a proper mayor. And if you ask me, yet another act of public defamation is the very last thing we, you, and the city of
Chicago need right now. After thousands, if not millions, of years, the collective moral compass of human people has been called into question long enough.
I will say right now, that I will not name what I believe is the sole direct cause of the damaging of our world's morale. It's not the fact that we are still at
war with other countries for various reasons. It's not the terrorist attacks that continue to occur on a disturbingly regular basis,\. whether in Asia, the Americas,
Africa, wherever they may take place. It's not the current president of the United States of America, who I'm sure many of you are well acquainted with at this point.
It's not the innumerable natural or unnatural disasters that take place, both due to and through no fault of our own. Pointing the finger at any one thing is
a fruitless act, now more than ever. It will accomplish nothing.
The problem is every single one of us. Whether we realize it or not, we all play a role in the positivity, growth, and beneficiaries of human society. It is
not the role of a single person, group, organization, or otherwise to fix the problems that currently plague this world. We, as a race, are all brethren
and sistren. For all the growth we are attempting, all the acceptance, what have you... every second we choose to deface one another, to criticize
those that only aim to bring peace, to unleash on and dismiss the free world in response to only our personal slights, we take a step backward to what we should all really
be aiming for. To what that objective is, I will not patronize you with an answer. Implicitly, we all know the ultimate goal of human society.
Peace. Not world conquest, not vengeance on our forefathers and antagonists for whatever we might perceive as their wrongdoings, not personal gratification at the
expense of others... peace. For us all to really live in harmony and stability, we need to achieve peace. I fully and honestly acknowledge that the human being
is not perfect; that one way or another, we will always take issue with one another over something. That is an inevitability I believe no one can really change.
All the same, we must always work to love and reach out to one another; or at least, unederstand each other. Whenever possible, step out of your own bubble and
listen to what others have to say. Never assume what you know is all anyone needs to know. At the end of the day, citizens of not just Chicago, but the
world... we're all in this together.
Thank you.
