Whoa, that's awesome! Makes me wish there was a base for that so I could use it to make the Fandom Scouts characters that play guitar. Not to mention that I didn't think I would ever see Reid rocking out like that.
Just wanted to say in the short time I've been here I've found this thread and your assets super useful. Like if I have an idea or find I need something that's just not in the RTP or DLCs I've bought I scour this thread first just to see if you've already done it. Even if the art doesn't match for my game's artsyle it's just so useful and necessary to just have something there even just as a placeholder to keep getting stuff done. Whether or not any of it remains in the completed product, it's just so helpful to have that either way that whenever I finish this game you are definitely getting that free copy and credit. Thank you.
Hey @Avery, I have a suggestion: maybe a parrot charset? That would be so nice add-on for tropical forests/islands, and for a pirate ships of course! :)
After I could not settle on anything for quite a while, just when easter was passing by, fellow German @Jitsu gave me a great idea: the wolpertinger, a mythical creature from German (mostly Bavarian) folklore. That fitted perfectly my bill of matching the holiday without being to restrictive in the type of games that it can be used in.
The wolpertinger is a rabbit or bunny, often depicted sporting fangs, antlers and wings :3
Sadly I had no bunny I could use as base... so I made my own MZ bunny, too!
That bunny is adorable... and the idea of a winged bunny reminds me of the "bunnisus" from My Little Pony. It's practically a bunny with pegasus wings. They're so cute too, just being adorable little forest creatures and friends to the ponies.
I really want to learn about the wolpertinger, though. I am making a game series with lots of inspiration from folklore, and I want to branch out from Japanese folklore and add some other countries. This gives me something to search on Google tonight.
Omg I love these bunnies! I wish this had been RTP so we'd have faces and such (cause who wouldn't want to talk to a cute bunny?) already, like I didn't know how much bunnies were needed. Thank you for this!
Yes, the bunny is all cool and stuff, but today I have something even more exciting:
We all know the RTP is really bright, and sometimes your heroes just land at very dark places.
So I took it on me and edited a full tileset for... THE VOID™
Based on the dungeon tiles, this set lets your heroes experience real horror!
Example screen (plus an obviously very scared Reid):
I know that void tileset was for April Fool's Day, but I would love to use those for a project. This joke actually ended up useful... although it will all be placed on a colored parallax.
Hope everyone had a happy and safe April Fool's Day today!
