    - Should also tell that the shadows must not touch you and the boy.
    I didn't catch what @TRIDIUM said, but that got me also - I thought I had to intercept the shadow before it got to the boy, and that killed me the first time.

    - I should also give the player a hint to where to go after tell you that you need to escort the boy. Escort it to where?
    That also got me once - I don't think that not saying it is a big deal, but the lower-left central area appears to have the road leading up (which is where to go) as well as one leading left for a bit. If it only had one clear path, I don't think saying it is necessary.
  2. So, funny story, I was gonna post another let's play....and the audio was messed up again! Who would have guessed!

    I really need to get a mic, lol.
    Anyway, I'm not gonna redo all that, so I'll just post my thoughts here.

    @Starmage
    Spoiler
    This was one of my favorites from the jam! Pacing and length were very good, and the story never felt like it was dragging. I liked the twist at the end, that was cool. Also, (this is a trend I noticed for a lot of the games I played lol) love to see the non-binary rep. The windowskin was a bit loud, IMO. Maybe it's supposed to be on purpose, but it hurt my eyes a bit. I will say, I'm a bit relieved the audio got messed cuz I was not thrilled about reading some of the more mushy lines out loud lol.
    Good job!
    (Also fyi I named my player character Ryan Gosling, if you were wondering)

    Spoiler
    I quite enjoyed this one. I was a little nervous at first that it would go on for too long, but I was pleasantly surprised. The game did not overstay its welcome. The concept was neat, and the writing solid. I liked the switching perspectives. Don't have a lot to say about this one, sorry!

    @SmashArtist
    Spoiler
    Sorry, but I kinda ragequit this one. :kaoswt2: The insanely high evasion rate specifically irks me in games (*cough cough* Persona 3 reload *cough*). There also wasn't a lot to do outside of spam attack and hope for the best.
    I'm also not sure why the window was so large. There was a ton of empty space for no reason.
    I did find myself chuckling at some of the writing, but other times it did feel a little try-hardy. Maybe tone it down just a little in the future.
    Truly was the dark souls of bug catching RPG Maker games.

    @layabout
    Spoiler
    I unfortunately don't have much to say about this one. I've tried to give all the games at least 20 minutes. Most of that time was spent fighting bats and trying to figure out how to not die. I feel like I'm missing something because I have no idea how to survive more than 2-3 encounters.
    Also, I had a little rant in the recording, but the dialogue needs a lot of editing. There's a lot of back and forth that just doesn't go anywhere or add anything to the story.

    @BlueFairyKino
    Spoiler
    Another score for our nonbinary hoes.
    Jokes aside, I kinda felt like I was missing a lot of backstory. I only found 2 people, but it felt like a lot of stuff was referred to that I had no idea about.
    The exposition dump at the beginning was pretty tiring to read. I paid attention cause I want to be a good playtester, but if I was playing it casually, I would have skipped all that. Especially since not a lot of the lore really mattered to this specific story.
    The maps were very, very, very large and confusing. I would definitely condense a lot of them.
    I will say, I might finish it on my own time, because there were bits and pieces I was intrigued by.

    @itsadullworld
    Spoiler
    I got really excited cause I don't get to play a lot of yaoi games that aren't about cannibalism or something. I liked the concept and some of the dialogue, but the combat was a drag. It went on for way way too long, and I probably wouldn't have reloaded my save had I died.

    @Mac15001900
    Spoiler
    I found this one to be quite charming. Definitely the most mechanically sound and fun game that I've played for this jam so far. Dialogue was funny, didn't go on for too long...just a really solid entry! I don't have much to say because I didn't have many problems with it.

    @BobbyLily
    I had added your game to the list, and I started playing it, but I did not finish. I'll wait until I'm done to give feedback, either in video format or written. I like it so far though.

    Wooow! I am so thrilled you enjoyed it TRIDIUM! Thanks so much for playing! And yessss I really loved writing the twist and adding in the fun diverse self-insert aspects for it! But its hilarious you named yourself "Ryan Gosling" xDD Damnn, Reid must be charmed xD <3 I love it!!! :kaojoy:

    Its a shame couldnt watch an LP of it >.< But I really appreciate you writing your thoughts here nonetheless and for the effort of playing everyone's entries <3

    Thanks for considering for review!
    Hope you continue to like it :kaoswt:
  5. Thanks for playing my game! I super appreciate the feedback and I agree that the game needed major work on the combat system. Most of the game was done very last minute, so there's a reason I didn't do a proper release of it. I would've loved to add more dialogue and humor.
    Sorry you had such a tough time with it. :kaoswt2:

    I would love to get feedback on how I can make combat more engaging in general. I've noticed that it's a trend with my games that spamming is the best option. Since "attack" is just a built in feature and most enemy skills are based of random chance in the enemy skills page, what can I do to make skills more required and fun to use? I'm not saying there is anything wrong with default RM functionality, just that I don't know how to utilize it effectively. I will admit I'm a very casual player, so I'm used to avoiding strategy and just using the strongest moves.

    I'm probably not the best person to ask that question, but I would suggest looking at some other successful turn based games to get an idea of how they work.

    IE, in persona, enemies are weak to different elemental damage types. Exploiting that weakness gets you can extra turn and stuns the enemy. If you manage to do that to everyone, you can do an "all out attack" and deal a bunch of damage to everyone.

    It's a pretty simple system, but it feels really satisfying to pull off. There's more to the combat than that, but that's sort of the core system that holds it all together.

    Since enemies are sometimes resistance/healed by certain elements, there's no "strongest move" for the most part.

    Honestly, if you're really struggling to put combat in your game, don't. Replace it with something else (puzzle, minigame, etc) or just make it a VN/walking sim. IE, for this bug game specifically, you could have bug events that would fly around, and you would have to rush to catch them.

    Also, if you look at some plugins, there are one's that remove or change the attack command.
    Enemy AI is also something worth looking into, I don't know of any tutorials, but there are in-engine ways of getting them to act "smarter".
  7. Thank you for your response! Elemental types is definitely a part of RM that I've overlooked. I'll take your advice and analyze some of my favorite games.
    Thanks again, I super appreciate you taking the time.

  9. Thanks so much for playing my game/the feedback. Yeah the combat was definitely a drag, it was supposed to be a short visual novel, wishing I stuck with that instead of adding that last minute combat (the damage formula was way off)

    As for the romance, I got really into danmei and baihe last year, it's been on my mind 24/7

    Once again really appreciate you taking the time to play my game :D

    Did a stream! I'm almost done, I think I've got like 7 games left.
    Funnily enough, I ended up playing two games not made for the jam made by artists I follow.

    Just so you know, there’s some design issues you ran into that should be fixed in the latest patch.
  11. Hey, thanks for the review and I'm glad you enjoyed playing. ^_^

    That's probably the last of the Baron Von Piledriver games, since I've switched to MZ and also don't use the default sprites these days, and you really can't have a Baron Von Piledriver game without the demon himself. ( There have been others in the series but I made them for me and my friends so they wouldn't be interesting to a general audience - too many in-jokes or references to our lives. ) The only other game I have available for public playing is the one in my signature - You Have To Escape.

    Omg, I'm a bit embarassed that you livestreamed the game in it's incomplete state, I hope once I complete it fully, you can come back to it in your spare time :kaohi:

    And watching your video made me realize I do need to include all caps answers and/or change the way the riddle game operates, I evented from scratch it so that's why there are some odd limitations, I will reconsider them though! As well as other things to better guide the player around the map, and, of course, add more NPCs and variety so the game doesn't feel so empty. :kaoluv:

    Either way, thank you so much for playing the game ❤️
  13. yeah was just exploring a concept since I ran out of time for my original idea, thanks for at least trying tho
  14. Just one game this time, @Dyluck
  15. Thanks for playing

    "Cube root of 8" contains the letter "e"

    EDIT

    There was some incorrect assumptions made by me, so I'm temporarily delisting the video until I edit out that part. I doubt anyone wanted to hear me rant about game pricing anyway lol
  17. Not posting a request for Feedback just yet, but. If I may ask, I looked through your qualifications for what is allowed to have feedback requested for and I saw that VNs aren't able to be submitted, but that message was fully struck-through.

    Are VNs allowed to be submitted for Feedback? Just wondering, if I am not supposed to ask that here, I'll delete my message to avoid clogging this forum.
  18. You're fine. At this point, I get so few submissions, go ahead and send anything
  19. Ah, gotcha! Once I finish enough of the game I will be sure to send the Demo here
