Thanks for the suggestion @callmedan , I was actually considering making their arms bounce a bit on the walking animation, but I wasn't sure if it would look a bit odd because their arms are already in such a forced pose *haha* :kaoswt2:
Maybe I should try anyway and decide which looks better? :)
And I'm glad you like them @starlight dream :kaothx:
Since you like the animation how it is, I'm now curious what you think, bouncy arms or static arms? :D

It's hard to say which is better without seeing the hand movement. :)
My suggestion for the red one is to make the hands move slightly but not enough that her hand position becomes invisible. A slight motion and not the entire arm flipping back and forth.
The first one can have movement in the 2 lower arms and keep the top ones static?
What I like about the static arms, is that they give a more ominous presence to these characters. They seem concentrated and still, in control of themselves. So even if you make bouncy arms, I hope these static ones will be available too. -
That's a very helpful suggestion @starlight dream
So instead of their arms swinging back and forth they would look good if their arms just move very slightly up and down? :)
And maybe all four of Lakshmi's (the one in the red dress) arms move, because she's holding flowers, which aren't very heavy, her arms would be more relaxed :)
And what you said about them seeming concentrated and still and in control of themselves fits them very well, especially Vishnu :)
I'm not sure they'd like to seem ominous though :kaoswt2: *haha*
And I think you're right, I'll have both animations, especially now I know they give a slightly different feel to the characters :) (So don't worry, slightly ominous Lakshmi is here to stay :D)
Thank you starlight and @callmedan for the suggestions  -
Ominous was a bit exaggerated as a description, for such cute-looking sprites LOL I'll switch that to mysterious :p "I'm walking straight at you... Can you guess what I want?... No?... Hahaha" They probably want to give us a hug.

Hello!
So I have been making a game for some time now. I am trying to complete it when I have time of course and I am one person. So the only thing I can show is the graphics I made, I have made big progress in the database, classes skills weapons enemies.
Now I am trying to make an 8bit art style for my game and... I did this so far
http://prntscr.com/iwn4g6
and let me finish by saying.. I am not an artist (of course you have already figured out but, just saying)
so... are they any good? or I am just wasting my time? -
I don't think you're wasting your time at all @leontas2007 , it looks good, I think you've definitely got the 8bit style down :)
I'm sorry I can't be more help, but I don't know how to draw in the older video game style :kaoswt2:
I like how you've put little specks of lighter green in the grass though, I think it makes it easier to look at than if it was just a flat colour which might strain your eyes a bit after a while :)
. . . Right, why was I on here? XD
Ah yes, I've done some on the animations for Vishnu and Lakshmi so their arms move a bit now :)
I'm not sure what to do with Vishnu's arm which is holding the mace, since maces are heavy I don't think it would bounce like the flower is XD
I thought I'd also ask if you think the back arms should move too, or if that would be a bit much? :)
And knowing these two, they probably do want to give us a hug @starlight dream  -
@Snow White I like the moving flower, that turned out really well! Good thinking about the mace's weight but I don't know the answer :p One idea I have, is to make it move outwards like the flower, but only for one frame (when the right foot is forward). Maybe this can show it's an object harder to move? It's just a guess though, it's ok to expect a disaster if you try it! xD
What is the yellow part over the back hand? Is it a halo?
For sure another arm should move besides the one with the flower. If only the 2 left ones move though, it'll look unnatural. So you can animate 1 of the right ones at least..
Lakshmi looks as cute as ever though, and the animated arms are an improvement for her.
@leontas2007 That's a nice 8bit style actually. Your buildings and trees are all shaped well. No, you're not wasting your time, you have a style down, I wouldn't have guessed you're a beginner. Continue to trust your taste and if there is something in particular you're unsure of, you can bring it up.
But so far you're on the right track. I like the beach tile, although the edge design is repeated, it's not noticeable. The repetition of the tile is quite seamless which is a hard thing to accomplish.  -
I'm glad you like how the flower turned out  (It was a little fiddly, so I'm glad I don't have to edit it again XD)
The yellow thing is actually a discus he uses as a weapon, it's a bit hard to see because the sprite is so small, but it's easy to see in paintings of him, like this :)
(Don't worry, the giant snake is his friend :))

I completely agree that one of his right arms needs animating though, he really looks odd with only one arm moving XD
I'd say the best one to move would be the one holding the mace, and also the worst one to move would be the mace *haha*
If I go into it expecting it to look silly the first few times it will probably be more funny than anything :D
Your idea of it only moving on one step sounds good, I'll definitely have to try that! :)
And I'm glad you like how Lakshmi looks :wub -

The yellow thing is actually a discus he uses as a weapon, it's a bit hard to see because the sprite is so small, but it's easy to see in paintings of him
In that case you could try animating the discus, even if the hand beneath it stays still. The discus can go up and down for example OR it can glow wider as he walks. -
Hello!
Well this is my First post here, and I am sorry that it is to ask for help.
I need some.
I have been working on a Carriage for my game, it's to take the player from place to place in my large city's.
I am wondering if I should just make it a title set, or if I should try and make it a sprite, I did hope to have it move before the zone change, and may be to add a feel of traffic/life to the city's.
This is what I have been working on, to me it doesn't seem to feel like I am making it right and when ever I try and correct it seems to only get worse.. I believe it is my POV and shadowing, I am drawing it from, ANY help would be welcome, I plan to add a person driving it on the seat, and use or make a horse sprite for it.
If someone finds it OK and uses it in it's current state, I have no issue with it, credit would be nice but not needed. (I don't think its that good use myself being incomplete) -
'Resources' is for posting things you have made which you want to share with others so that they can use it too. However, it seems to me that the main part of your post is about improving this image. Until you are satisfied with it, I think it is probably better to merge this with the WIP thread so that you can get some advice.
-
The first thing you need to do, before you do anything else, is add a top to everything. Think about it like a series of boxes. Looking at the box from the same angle as you see the other resources of an RPG, how much of the lid of a that box should you see compared to the sides? Maybe try looking at a real box from that angle, even better, with the same light source.

Started working on the last map i need to be done with chapter one of my game mapping wise. For the map i wanted to create a guard tower this is a first version of it. the bottom isnt finish because i dont need it for the map :D

-
I get lazy with that one -
@RocketKnight This looks made for MV and it is nice too to see a model so slick!
-
Well I am reworking my Carriage at this time, when I get done and it resized I will post the new one for any kind of advise on how I can make it better!

Looks a lot like Doomsday. I'm liking the unusual thing you've got started with the feet and legs. Love your drawing style.
-
It kind of does now that you mention it. A little more rock like but makes me think of 90s Doomsday (aside from the gnarly mouth/teeth). Went with hooves as I ended up with taloned feet on one of the other monsters I was working on.
Thank you. =]
