    In some of the stories I've created, crystals represent purity. So maybe the person needs to pull out the crystal to purify someone or something, at the expense of destroying the forest's purity.
    That, or the crystal is the soul of the last person who pulled it out, before becoming the tree themselves.

    if you own MZ, then you can use any of these tiles in any MZ-built projects. you have to use the MZ engine though, not any other game engine.
