Not only does Halloween happen in October, the bugs start to die…at least in the Northern Hemisphere. You may begin working on your projects once this announcement has been made public. Submission Dates: Oct 21st - Oct 28th, 11:59PM EST (Oct 29th 4:59AM UTC) Winners announced: Nov 3rd. The prompt is “haunted building.” The goal for this jam is to create a compact, atmospheric, and of course spooky~ game centered around a haunted building within a month. It could be the classic haunted house, but try and get creative! What places scare you the most? What does “spooky” even mean? Think eerie, mysterious, strange, uneasy, and supernatural. The art of spookiness is intrigue. We’d love classic monsters! Ghosts, witches, undead, ghouls, and even cryptids! You name it! Spooky can often take a lighter or even humorous tone compared to horror, so no need to shy away from whimsy~ if that’s your preference! Your project must be 30 minutes or less of gameplay for the average play through. Open to any Makers published in the KOMODO store. You must have the rights to all materials used. Gameplay: How fun, balanced, and functional is the game play? Visuals: How good are the visuals and how well do they contribute to the spooky atmosphere? Audio: How good is the audio and how well does it contribute to the spooky atmosphere? Story and Writing: Is the prompt of “haunted building” used well? Creatively? How well does the writing lend to the art of spooky? Spookiness: Then. Naturally. How spooky~ is the game? How atmospheric is the game and how excited does it make us for Halloween? There will be a second thread opened for submissions. Do not submit before the submission times or to this thread! Please use one of the following sources: Google Drive Dropbox Itch.io 1st place: $20 of KOMODO DLC of your choosing and an exclusive badge. 2nd place: $10 of KOMODO DLC of your choosing and an exclusive badge. 3rd place: $10 of KOMODO DLC of your choosing and an exclusive badge. All participants will receive a badge! Badges are created by hiddenone. Stay turned for the sneak peak! You may use any resource you hold a license for. Do not use resources that infringe on copyrights or trademarks. Do not use AI. Due to the prizes carrying a cash value, ensure your resources are available for commercial use. You MUST include all credits and adhere to all copyright and licensing requirements. You may withdraw your submission. You may also update until the deadline date and time. Community conduct standards still apply. Violence and mature themes should not overly exceed a PG-13 standard. Judges reserve the right to disqualify an entry for any reason deemed necessary One submission per member.

I've been looking into it and it seems to be because (from what I understand) the game is being classified as unfamiliar so windows just blocks it to be safe. Tbh I don't understand the technical shenanigans a whole bunch but I found a bunch of posts about this thing happening to other games on Itch. BUT it looks like updating the game might help a little bit, so I did that. I hope you'll be able to run it now :kaocry:

@LunarSpire_ Just wanted to report that, on Win10 & Firefox I was able to download, extract, and launch without any problem.

Now that I think of it... EDGE is also just Chromium so my trying to download with EDGE was... not really useful.

haha sadly i got the tileset, assets, story written down and music done, im missing the game itself XDDD sad me noises...

the gamplay fights are there, much more easier to make than cutscenes event, for some reason stuff don't work.

mine are too messy, if anyone saw how I made them he would probably puke, but at least they're working, cutscene dialogue events are very annoying to make, luckily the normal press button events are easy to make.

unfortunately the game will look a bit bland, couldn't make many original pieces or sprites, but at least the essentials will be there, maybe after the jam ends I'll make an update on it with all the stuff I couldn't put.

Just to let you know, I can't download it on Chrome (says a virus was found). Using Firefox, the download proceeds but upon trying to unzip it Windows Defender will still stop me.
