Event - Secret Santa 2018 aka the IGMC Review Trade Thread

Hello all and welcome to the IGMC 2018 Secret Santa thread! The way this thread works is you post that you wish your game to be reviewed by another forum member, and in return you will review a game as well. To begin, post a link to the game you wish to be reviewed. You can use the thread page here, or your IGMC 2018 entry page on itch.io. Once we have ten submissions, or a week passes (assuming at least two submissions in that week), I will assign you. Once assigned, you will have two - three weeks to finish the review. Post the review on the page the review requester provided. If you get a game you already did, let me know and I can give you a different game in that group. This may result in some game getting played by 2 people in the same round. Once you are done with your review, you can request to go again, and you will be put in the next open group of ten (this way you can proceed at a pace which is comfortable for you). However, I will not assign you again until you tell me you wish to go again. Also, if I find it is always the same ten people going I may ask you to wait one group to be fair to everyone. We will keep this up until Christmas, so post away! Played Umbral and left my comments on its page. :) I think I'll check out some of the igmc games with threads here, so I'll bow out of the secret santa for now.

I've downloaded my assignment, sadly been ill the past couple of days so not got round to playing it yet. Hoping to be back to normal in the next day or two and then I'll take a proper look :)

I am not going to lie, I absolutely hated it. I am not going to leave Itch.Io review but I'll leave it here. Well, it's not review, just me rambling about it. It was a painful experience. I'm sorry already in advance.

The story is really weird and bad. The main character has absolute no personality.

There's tons of visual inconsistencies that bother me from the very start of the game. Sometimes the characters have face graphics in the messages, sometimes they don't. I really recommend picking one or another. The rainbow scrolls up and down with you and looks really cheap because of that. Rainbows don't work that way.

The game annoys me on so many levels that this would turn into essay if I wrote everything down. One of the biggest offenders is that people actually spell out their emotions, literally saying stuff like "BLUSH!" and that's the whole message. The dialogue is not very good even when it's not doing that. Some sprites have graphical errors, like the old grandma has small line of pixels that appear over her head when she walks in certain directions. Same with battle sprites, some have them very noticeable.

Your save files have plenty of variables like Selector and SelectorX and SelectorY visible.

I absolutely can't get into the game at all, the mood is completely taken from that one damn song that sounds like a prancing drunk hobbit dancing around and swaying back and forth and it never ing ends. ing drunk hobbit song playing from the moment you enter the cafe and it just loops endlessly. It was driving me so crazy that I had to mute the whole game because I wanted to strangle someone after only 10 minutes of playing the game and listening to that same damn song from the very start all the way to the cave. The rest of the music is just as mind numbingly repetitive, but please put less drunk hobbit songs!!!! J-Pop, death metal, Reggae, anything but please, please change that song!!

Why the hell do rats and bats scream like pigs when you attack them?!

If you run away from bees, you don't get the honey that it told you've got.

Why don't you get money from resting at tent or inn and only at cafe? Seems really weird and forced constrain.

Running from ghost in the cemetry sent me all the way back to waldorf forrest?!?! Ragequit, I'm done.

I had absolute miserable time but tried to finish it because I was given this as a secret santa. I couldn't, I just couldn't. The game literally pushed me back at the start of the whole enemy filled chaser area, twice. I tried, I really, really, really tried to beat this game and give it a fair chance. But the game punished me so much that I lost even the smallest of the investments I had for it. I tried, I really, really, tried to enjoy it. But it was painful experience from start until I stopped.

The game feels like it should be R18 game but obviously has none of that. The dialogue, pacing and everything is like from Ecchi game. This game really needed that because as of now, it feels very lackluster and like it builds up to that but never delivers.

I have a lot more to say but none of it is positive. I'm just going to leave the score here.

1/5 stars and that's because I can't give 0 stars.
