Well, here is a new track I did yesterday. It's playing while you're in some modern building setting. Very much inspired by Earthbound.

Here too, another attempt at making something unsettling à la Mother series. It's the soundtrack you'll have in some wedding room where the bride is not so happy to marry.

All someone has to do is say the world "Earthbound" and I'm in. Loved it. The Wedding Corridor is wicked unsettling. I really want to know what is going on in that scene! LOL!

A couple of others I've worked on:
Welcome to the Machine This is a Pink Floyd cover I made for fun, changing the lyrics to be more dystopian and appropriate for 40 some years later, though you probably won't understand them anyways. :D
Don't Forget Me Mister Fox I was working on this when the damned Fox song came out and killed my mood. I couldn't take it seriously anymore so the other day I decided to add wubs to it. -
@Ms Littlefish : Thanks! :) Actually it's the first playable map. You're stuck in your wedding room which is actually more a golden cage than anything else and you're helped by your maids to make your escape.

I dig it. Reminds me of the music from Super Mario Sunshine a bit, but with a more desert feel.I totally forgot. I'm so sorry D: https://soundcloud.com/dlsea/wip04 Try this one.

*nod* The whole RPG this is for has a tropical feel--even the desert... even though it's a high desert. It's my best work yet and I'm very VERY proud of it. :DI dig it. Reminds me of the music from Super Mario Sunshine a bit, but with a more desert feel.

That one is really good. Sounds fantastic and would definitely suck me in a game.I totally forgot. I'm so sorry D: https://soundcloud.com/dlsea/wip04 Try this one.

I like it when the drums and the rest of instrumentation comes in on Welcome to the Machine. I love hearing how people interpret music and it's fascinating how many ways it can be done. I listened to your Mister Fox last night and I still have fun listening to it. I really like how it ASKS for the bass, lol.A couple of others I've worked on:

To change things up, here is one of my stand alone piano pieces. I'm posting it because I want to try and morph it into a really chilled out, pretty, and ambient town theme and I want some ideas on instrumentation, maybe. https://soundcloud.com/maireadgamemusic/star-gazing -
It probably would sound very nice as a town theme. And definitely good as standalone. I'd take a crack at mixing it, but judging by the music here my style isn't suited for RPGMaker RPGs, which I am guessing midi is more popular due to file size.I like it when the drums and the rest of instrumentation comes in on Welcome to the Machine. EDIT: Listenin' to them now....
E2: Love the piano theme littlefish.
Pokeymon: It reminds me of a SNES RPG castle. I like how the rhodes and organ sweep back and forth in that intro.
Krimson Ah yes, your vocaloid stuff. They remind me of GLaDOS!
I've been working on this feverishly and it's DONE.... save for me actually playing. I write tougher than I think I do! ROFL
Anyway, here ya go.

I appreciate the kind words. I'm always pumped when people like Straw Millionaire because I was so far out of my depth when I started it -- I'd never used more than one real(-ish) virtual instrument at a time before. I'd also never tried to use woodwinds before, mostly because synth presets and soundfonts tend to sound terrible. Then I stumbled upon Darkesword's list of soundfonts he uses, and thought, "ok, if he can make them sound good, I probably can, too." Though come to think of it, I may have ended up using a sample library. I'll have to load up the project later and see. Either way, I just found that if I took my time, kept it simple, and kept my eye and ear on every beat, it wasn't nearly as impossible a task as I'd built it up to be.That's how I write. I just go at it and then step back and say, "What did I actually do? OK. How can I shake this up?" I really take a "hit my face on the keyboard till it sounds good" approach.
I listened to your tracks. I'm really liking your stuff. I like your style of layering on the theme. I enjoy that type of music very much.Like how you take that oboe melody in Straw millionaire and start adding details around it.
There were also many keyboard+face moments.
If the flood of Likes are unclear, I'm really enjoying your Soundcloud stream!
I can't help but laugh that you lament the quality of your mixes in the same post where you compliment one of my (in my opinion) worst-mixed projects. Truly, we are our own worst critics. :) I'm glad you like KoS, though. Despite mix issues, I do like it and hope to clean it up and expand on it one day. Thanks for the feedback, StanMan. Glad you're enjoying what you're hearing, though a lot of my soundcloud are demos and poorly mixed and what not, I mainly just use it for feedback purposes though I haven't released in anything official in some years.
Really dug your work as well. Big fan of the Kings of Summer stuff.
Admittedly, my ears are still novice-level with regard to mixing, but I wouldn't classify yours as "poor". You do a good job picking instruments that hang out at different frequencies, so it's nowhere near as muddy as, say, when someone layers too many guitars. Sure, they could use some attention if you want to officially release them, but they're nowhere near bad enough to ruin the compositions.
Dang, looks like I missed it while I was away! Anyway, I like the stuff that's still there. Some of your instrument choices remind me of the games I was playing as a wee lad, and some of your arrangements bring Final Fantasy to mind, so it's a win all around.I totally forgot. Ah, shucks. Thank you! That link you posted with the SF2 recommendations. I use that oboe! But even among all (what feels like my thousand soundfonts) I own I hate all my strings (I am a very picky string player). The one he listed while quiet are beautiful! I may or may not have shed melodramatic tears. Posting that link kind of made my day.I appreciate the kind words. I use a few of those soundfonts myself! :D Love those.I appreciate the kind words. Just a word of advice-- whatever soundfonts you use, there will be SOMEONE who doesn't like it. the truth of "You can't please everyone" shines here... :(
thanks for the link! :D -

WHOA, that Welcome to the Machine cover is amazing! I love what you've done with it. Wow.
Woo! Glad to be of service! I've been using Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra for my strings, as well as Sakura, when I can find a preset that works (whenever I turn knobs, I ruin everything and it sounds awful). I've used the ones from the link, too. Everything seems to have a specific situation where it really shines.Ah, shucks. Thank you! That link you posted with the SF2 recommendations. I use that oboe! I've noticed a lot of soundfont hate on the internet, and I don't really understand it. Sure, some soundfonts suck, but so do some samples and some synths. If you find stuff that sounds the way you want it to, what does it matter what the format is?I use a few of those soundfonts myself! :D Love those.

Wow, that sound bank you linked is great! Uhm, I just became busy for the night. Gonna slap those on some old tracks and see what it spits out. I don't get the SF2 hate either. I have Garritan. I have Kontakt. I want to get East West. But when working in the context of RPG Maker I think those end up sounding a little too hard core with the cute little chubby sprites. Soundfonts are also really, really easy to use. Yeah, there is a lot of junk but I've hit gold with DSK and some other sets.Woo! Glad to be of service! Yeah...you knew this was coming here...
My entry for this week's Weekly Art Challenge. More info available there or via the soundcloud, itself. =P

I like how it's very mechanical and robotic. It reminds me more of Steampunk-era-ness. I see a factory with robotic workers working alongside human workers making custom-built armors. It's a change of pace for sure and I like it! Well done!
Heh... hilariously enough, I too have an entry for this weeks's art contest! Just like Clydous, I wrote a theme suggesting an armor. Only mine is more like
"What would an Island Warrior's magical armor sound like if it were music?"
It's epic and tropical-breezy all at once!
Ready for Battle! -
@ Iron Croc. Those soundfonts are getting way better, huh? I'm addicted to finding new sound fonts. The switch fixed a lot of the issues I had with your last version of the tune (mainly the energy). Once again, your melodies and chord progressions are really strong. To carry a battle theme with an oboe lead takes a lot of melodic interest and this piece delivers it.
OK, these pieces I'm about to post have been on my SoundCloud for awhile, BUT, they've recently gotten some make overs so they feel new. ;D
The strings on this one had been bugging the beejebus out of me but I think I got the strings down. Now it's just the percussion bugging me really. And I think maybe a tiny bit higher tempo may help it. Some random horn things bug me too. But I think it's almost there. This is the music for the mega, big, grandiose, capitol type city. Think giant stone facades and streets, clock tower, parliament, bustling markets, very political and collegiate; oh, and it's set away in the snowy mountains! https://soundcloud.com/maireadgamemusic/city-of-ditjumuth-the-stone-of
And inside that town is a very important location. The school! The school has a very upbeat and humorous atmosphere, full of running jokes and gags. Such as, no, you really can't conduct experiments on the students (this never happens but it's joked about often). https://soundcloud.com/maireadgamemusic/the-academy-of-ditjumuth -
So I decided to work on a ComiPo manga, and thought "Hey, let's make a theme for it," And yeah, light and fluffy some how turned into hard and angsty, but I'm having fun with it.
Ume Aozora, or Plum Blue Skies
I worked on a ComiPo manga before a back in 2011 called Hachi: Blue. Ume Aozora will probably take place in the same world, and dammit it's going to be light and fluffy if it kills me!Spoiler

May I also post a little composition of mine here?
If so, I would be delighted if you gave my newest composition 'Under The Heavy' a listen!
It was created as a commission for an independent game studio.
