May I also post a little composition of mine here?

If so, I would be delighted if you gave my newest composition 'Under The Heavy' a listen!

It was created as a commission for an independent game studio.
     Of course you can post!

I like what you have here. Since it's a suspense piece I think it start even softer and build even more. I like the rhythms and details you have going in this piece but they do repeat a lot before in transitions into something new. I was also kind of expecting it to explode into some huge melody when it drops off at the end, but that could be due to my music preferences. I do enjoy this piece though!

So I decided to work on a ComiPo manga, and thought "Hey, let's make a theme for it," And yeah, light and fluffy some how turned into hard and angsty, but I'm having fun with it.

Ume Aozora, or Plum Blue Skies
A few of the notes in that clean guitar note riff feel off but I can't put my finger on it. But I love it every time the distortion comes in. No vocaloid on this one? Or is that still in the works.

I haven't got around to writing lyrics yet. I am hoping to have some inspiration at work. A friend of mine has me using the trial of Sibelius First, so basically I am using music notation to put it together. Normally, I use a YRG-1000 Midi Guitar controller to write midis, which makes the notes sound more guitar like. I might just redo the tracks and see if I can make the sound work better.
  3. I'll keep my ears out, Krimson. I'm liking it so far. I draft almost all my pieces first, as well.

Well, I got a new one for you guys and I'm a little nervous of it. Few of my immediate friends have liked it so far. It's not for everyone but I'm really enjoying having written it and the context of the piece makes its intentions clear (to me). I need to make a few edits but it was so hard to get it to actually export from my software that I think I'm just going to enjoy it for a few minutes, ha!

This is a "the bad guys are here" kind of song (which I'm going to remix into boss music). The antagonist is a complete head case who forgets what he is talking about all the time and goes through many polar personality changes. He is essentially a cadaver possessed and animated by my lore's equivalent of the devil. He if for lack of a better term, "living dead" but struggles to remember life as a living man. He has many breaks and lapses into his memory and when he has learned what he did while alive, the demon he became post life expresses more remorse and empathy to his sins then the living man did. He gets trapped in a mental tug of war with the possession of spirits and wanting to die to absolve his guilt.
  4. Now that is some unsettling music. It actually makes me feel quite uneasy, and the fact it never settles into a pattern, and the twist and turns keep coming means you can never get a read on it, and just further brings up that feeling of unsettling and dread. In short, i really like it.

Now, I'm not one to post music (or anything) all that often, but I figured I should probably start doing so as I get more and more into creating my game, so...here we go.

    https://soundcloud.com/slasherzeta/standard-battle-theme-2-v4

Designed as a simple, but foot-tapping, blood pumping battle theme. It's only guitar, bass and drums, so compared to most video game battle themes it's very simple, even more so since this is only two sections.

Aside from that, I'm not terribly certain what type of battle I'd use this for. Standard battle? Might be a bit too intense for that? Boss theme? Probably not intense or varied enough. But I'm proud of it none the less, though I wouldn't consider it amazing or anything, but I figured it was worth sharing.

And for those curious, this was written in Guitar Pro 6 (Not the best program, I know, but it's the thing I know best and it's what I have at hand), and I got the semi-decent sound out of adding various (free) VSTi's to the track in REAPER.
  5. Thank you. The rhythm is solid in the piece you posted, Slasherzeta. I can't help but feel that some of the guitar licks are a bit out of the tuning though. Maybe it's too metal for me, lol. I love the tempo, the rhythms. It's definitely a piece you could knock some bad guy teeth out, to. If it's in the right game, I see no reason it couldn't be used as a standard battle. I think the addiction of a "singable" motif (or a chorus of sorts) could help break up the piece and make it more digestible, which I think is good for looping music.
  6. Everything Ms Littlefish said...with the exception of it being a standard battle theme. The tempo is, in my opinion, too quick for a standard battle theme, and the lack of a hummable motif makes it difficult to get in to. Still, the beginning reminded me A LOT of the American Season 1 theme for Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and that's certainly not a bad thing. While it sounds intense and adrenaline-pumping, I would recommend slowing it down a bit for the purpose of a normal battle theme. In either case, I would recommend giving it at least a small section that is easy to remember and hum along to. Think of your favorite songs from your favorite games. You can usually sing along to them, right? We need to focus on this aspect of music-making more. When people are able to hum along to our music, they always present the opportunity to share our music for others to listen to...an ultimate goal of every musician (or so I should think).

Track has great potential, though. Keep it up! =D

Excellent job! It definitely creates a "horror" kind of atmosphere, and everything you do reinforces that. Also, that bass guitar sounds great.

Impressive tag cloud on that one! I really like this piece. It does a great job conveying the tug of war you describe, and it sounds just the right amount of nuts. :)

LOL, thank you. I had a little bit of fun with the tags on this one. Glad someone noticed. :D
  9.  @Ms Littlefish, it does repeat indeed, not because I wanted but because the project lead who commissioned me, asked for it. :)

@StanManX, thank you very much for your kind words!

Hey, as long as the customer is happy! :D

But if you ever want to take it aside and doodle around with it. ;D
  11. Well then I shall go and doodle around with it! xD
  12. This one is brand spanking new, so there are bound to be a million edits to follow but here is where I am. This is meant for a lofty little home town out in the sticks, so not too big, simple melody and chords. You have fond memories of drinking dandelion wine and running through the coniferous woods to the fishing hole.

Edit: Huh, so I get an error message when I try to follow my link. :S

Edit 2: Yay, it appears to work now.
  13. hey there I am still very new to this forum, but I am starting to really fall in love with electronica. I think this is one of my better attempts at creating a downbeat/atmospheric electronica influenced track.  I hope you all enjoy.

  14. I posted on the track last night, but once again I LOVE the melody that comes in before 2 minutes. I really, really like this song. The synth parts are great and I'm really pumped yet relaxed when I listen to it.

Thank you for such a glowing review Ms. Littlefish I started jumping around your soundcloud portfolio, but I have yet to finish it. I love how all of your song titles are so "matter of fact"  or qwerky because you tend to show that emotion in your pieces. They usually have this nice bouncy rhythm to them. So far It is really enjoyable!

Haha, thank you. One of my inspirations in titles was Mario RPG. I'm still trying to come up with good ones for some of the tracks while others will remain to have serious titles. You can't name mega intense sad song "Fluffy cat and lollipop song", or can I? The game I'm working on in general has a very quirky atmosphere.
  17. Sorry about taking my original link but I wasn't in love with my first post of this. I still feel like the sound fonts/midi still leave a lot to be desired but I'm much happier with this version. Still needs many tweaks (some melodies are being drowned).https://soundcloud.com/maireadgamemusic/hometown-of-mesa-when-you-fell

Again this the "hometown." And I was going in the Celtic as ahem direction.
  18. ^Very good! Keep playing around with it! I'm sure you'll ge tit to sound the way you want it to!

Here's my victory theme. Uses part of the leitmotif.

  19. Hey everyone!

My name is Mathew Kong, and I'm a composer out of Houston (originally from California). Very cool stuff here; enjoying the variety of sounds!

My favorite RPGMaker games are The Witch's House and To The Moon, and my favorite game soundtracks are Journey, Bastion, and Donkey Kong Country 2. I look foward to getting to know the community here!
  20. Alright, I'm beginning the listening process! Moving on to live commentary. I love that rhythm that just starts plugging along with the bouncing strings. The mix of instrumentation in Blind Ambition is really interesting. I imagine a game that has many new and old world elements with this kind of instrumentation. I love the slides in the violin. It really went many places and remained a consistently interesting piece. Very nice!

Airs and Graces has a very nice classical feeling and it evokes a lot of winter imagery for me, like people shuffling through crowded snowy streets (your Sound Cloud said it was for a holiday, it works!)

Blackened Sky. Pirate shanty? Automatic win. Then the rhythm starts. Good melody. Love your low strings in this one. I wish there had been more vocals! It was great. I very much love shanty/English melodies. Great piece.

The Life He Gave. Love when the strings come in. I really like that your violins tend to always have slides and rolls in them. I'm a fiddle player so that is definitely a thing I do when I play. In fact, when I play in a classical setting I often struggle to not play fiddle instead. Anyway, back on topic. This piece has a very film score feeling to it and I really can hear the story it's try to tell, especially when it transitions to the brass and snare drum. I get the sense that the strings symbolize his old life and the drums are his life as a solider.

Love the pizzicato in Hua Street. The motif is very pleasant. I'm not familiar with a lot of these instruments but the flute sounding one is beautiful.

Lingering Whisper sounds like it could be snuck into Guild Wars 2 and I wouldn't be able to pick it out of a line up. I'd love to explore a world with this playing in the background.

Overall, I love that your music blends many elements of world and folk music with classical and film elements. I am very much a fan of that approach. Welcome to our little gang here! :D
