@Schematist: It's certainly an interesting battle theme. I feel like it's a little empty, though. The piano is nice, but there could be more layers going on in the background. Some deep, bellowing horns, (maybe even a tuba), I feel, would help this one out quite a bit, but that's only my opinion. Still quite nice, and I can see it working as a basic battle theme. Well done!
Here is my submission for this week's Weekly Art Challenge. I figured I may as well post it everywhere, so this thread is no..."eggception!" =P

Hello everyone! I thought I'd post a track for the Mana Aeliria game. Just finished this today and be happy to share it :)
Lady Tina... The companion and right hand of the main villain Lord Garradine. She will appear later in the game.

It's very neat! It sounds like the musical equivalent of a formula one car cruising at 10 MPH on a residential street.... if that makes any sense. It seems like the piece is trying so hard to hold back and not be intense like your regular style is.
I like the harp player at the end! Nice and well done! -

Wonderful advice Clydous! I will try thinking about some other layers to implement for upcoming battle themes! Very nice work on Hatching Life it reminds me of something from the Tales of_______ series!

Hey there Mana! This showdown theme sounds serious yet playful. It is almost as if this Lady Tina is not exactly fully evil ya know. Even though she is a companion of the main villain this song doesn't scream wicked intent. I hope this makes sense! :)

I feel led to share this with you all.
When my father got sick the first time, I pleaded and begged for his life to be spared. When he got sick again this time, I also pleaded and begged and prayed...
I wrote this piece back in 2012 when my father got sick the first time.
This time.... I ... well... *deep breath*
Well, anyway.. this is called "the plea". -
Beautiful. I love the progression, and it has a really nostalgic value to it. In fact, for an emotional song, it has surprisingly really peaceful moments. I especially like the string part. From 1.25 onwards. Is that a real instrument? And the interlude from 2.17 is well-done.

Thanks... :) Believe it or not no, that instrument from 1:25 onwards is not real!Beautiful. I love the progression, and it has a really nostalgic value to it. This song also doubles as a sung plea from a character of mine (Not game related) and when the cello kicks in supposedly that's when he starts singing. n a dream I heard him sing this and his normally cocky, bad boy attitde melted away into emotional singing in some language I'd never heard before... it was so cool. :)
Thanks for such high compliments! -
I just started uploading stuff to Sound Cloud.
I love video games so I figured why not write music for them?
So, if anyone is interested in collaborating with me on a project just shoot me a message on here or on Sound Cloud.
I really love RPGs(JRPGs too!) and games with Cinematic scenes. I also have a secret love for Sci-Fi games.
Beach Day - https://soundcloud.com/kumakin/beach-day
Small catchy piano theme. Reminded me of a beach theme from a video game like Legend of Mana so I named it as such.
Tale of Three Brothers - https://soundcloud.com/kumakin/tale-of-three-brothers
Final for a Film Composition Class.
Les Dents - https://soundcloud.com/kumakin/les-dents
Original work written over a video. (Link to video in the piece description.)
Dream - https://soundcloud.com/kumakin/dream
A relaxing somewhat deep contemplative piece. Could make a good opening theme for some game.
Gaining Sentience - https://soundcloud.com/kumakin/gaining-sentience
EDM with a sonic story. -
Hello! I'm surprised lol. It is exactly right. o_O She does everything to please the Lord but he's simply using her... >.>Hey there Mana! This showdown theme sounds serious yet playful. Yikes, I fell behind, haha! I've been hard at work on my next EP and utterly failing at using forums. :) I'm planning on whipping up something for Soundcloud tonight because I could use a break from the big project.
I love it! This sounds like the kind of boss encounter where your opponent is sassing you the whole time.Hello everyone! I thought I'd post a track for the Mana Aeliria game. Just finished this today and be happy to share it :)

Another awesome piece of work, sir! I think I say this every time you share something, but I love the sounds you use.Well, anyway.. this is called "the plea". -
So, it's not often I get to make something and not have to keep it secret until the project's release. Here's something I've made with the hopes of submitting it to the steam workshop as part of a free mini-pack, I've called it Soaring Fates. It's nice finally being able to post something new up on here, feedback would be really appreciated!

@ Scythuz I like the motif in the high strings right off the bat but in the opening I think I would like to hear more volume and bite out the low/rhythm strings. To me it doesn't quite match the intensity and drive of the violins. The cymbal crashes also feel like (to me) that they could be blended into the ensemble a little more. I am unsure if that is a panning problem, a preset, or my ears being strange. I love the rhythms that start around 3:05 all the way to the ending. I think the two biggest things I'd like to hear out of this is more fire from the low strings and the small issue with the percussion (and I might even be making that up).
@Iron Croc I love that the snyth part sounds so urgent but that the oboe is so calm and relaxed. The transition at :46 is a little sudden to me but I thing that it works out just fine. Your melodies are always great. This could easily be a theme for a character or used in a cinematic.
@Mana The kick drum comes in perfectly. I LOVE it when the percussion picks up with rest of the ensemble. Even though there is a lot of repetition it still feels fresh and gets epic. It continues to swell.
@ Clydous This song is adorable. I like the tremolo and the plucking piano notes. The chords just lend itself to the themes of "beginnings" and "life." There is a Grant Kirkhope quality to this. When the clarinet (?) comes in though, I think it could be louder. I can barely hear it. In fact, while the chords are awesome in that swell before the harp, it does get a tad muddy to my ears. The composition itself is wonderful though.
Alright, when I get back into the swing of things I usually go back to basics. Which for me usually means a piano piece. I posted this one over in the Weekly Art Challenge. I want to do more songs this week as I rather like to do music that has to do with water themes.
This piece is definitely a little abstract. I wanted to invoke images of drowning and even emotional swelling and release.

@Iron Croc... That was such a great catchy classic tune! I can easily hear this in any nostalgic or classic based RPG. Sorry you had to be inspired by a family members sickness though. truly a lot of great melodies working together though!
@Scythuz... I get a sense of a tactical battle happening here. Something similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. I feel I have to concentrate before I make a move. That harp section really set that critical feeling of a dire situation for me. Great stuff!
@LittleFish/Mairead... I have browsed through about 70% of your gallery and I think this is in my top 3 so far. Not sure exactly what it is, but this piece feels like it has a lot more emotion! It could be the dissonance you speak of and it really adds great character to the track overall! Love it ^_^! -
When I heard that Frozen was confirmed to be in Kingdom Hearts 3 I was inspired to write a "What If" battle theme for the frozen world. It was kinda hard, but really fun at the same time. I hope you guys can enjoy! *I tried to mimic Yoko Shimomura's style as closely as I could*
-
I may as well post stuff here too.
Here's a battle theme I did ages ago for a game that was canceled. -
Ohhhhyeah, who wants some cyberpunk to settle them out for a bit?
I even have a download link if you want it in super lossless quality

@Schematist
Well, the percussion is definitely spot on. I think the instrumentation is pretty accurate as well. I think some more woodwinds trills and such would add more sparkle to this, which is what I think of when I think of Disney.
@Mister T
This is a really interesting theme. What kind of feel did the game have? I think the rhythmic elements are great but I'm really missing the sense of a melody in this. Also, I know it's supposed to be a loud type of piece with that instrumentation but a lot of the parts of get clouded. Nothing a little mixing couldn't fix.
Continuing my commitment to write multiple songs for this week's "under the sea" art challenge I have what I would consider a more typical song for a water level/area. It came out a little Eastern. ^_^
Two songs this week will probably be enough. I rarely do two of anything a week. Except when I decide that sleeping is dumb.

Oh wow. Am I listening to Yoko Shimomura? That sounds really great. I'm a big fan of her music lol. Legend of Mana...epic... It sounds more adventure or when you have a nice conversation with friends then a battle theme. But nonetheless really good job :D
It sounds more like a boss battle theme. I think it could use more variation but I love when the guitar kicks in. Gives it the extra touch.I may as well post stuff here too.

For me it takes a little bit long before the beat comes in and could use some variation. I love the part when the beat comes in! It somehow reminds me of Streets of Rage which is a good thing. :)Ohhhhyeah, who wants some cyberpunk to settle them out for a bit?

lol in the middle of your composition sleeping is not an option. By the way that sounds nice. I love the flute and oboe. It gives me this mysterious feeling of a big ocean in Egypt with many treasures.
Here's another song I composed some time ago. A walk through Moko Woods. This one came out a bit better then I actually imagined. :)
