I have made this list a while ago on a German forum, but I thought it would be useful to have it here as well. If there's any problem with it, please tell me. I don't want any discussion about using Rips the chance of getting punished for using stolen stuff, this is just to give you the information, so noone can say "I didn't know about this". You can suggest other stuff to add, but please include links to the original sources or screens of the game where the things are ripped off. 1. The Avadan Ship This is maybe one of the most famoust ships for RM VX and Ace - and sadly nearly as famous for including ripped parts. Archeia detected this here, but there are still many people using it, some don't know about this fact, some just don't care. Spoiler Spoiler Original: The Ship by Avadan (one of it's many versions, this is just for showing, DO NOT USE THIS!) What you could use instead: Spoiler Spoiler I am working on a ship tileset, there is a full functional base yet: Avery's Ship Celianna has an awesome one. Schnecke/Snail made another one. And there is this Edit of the XP-Ship; you would need to owm RMXP to be allowed to use it (and to ask someone to translate the japanese terms). 2. The "Big Icon Set" One of the most aweful violations of the terms I ever saw (and a very successful, too -_-) Here we have: stolen stuff of various RPG-Artists who's terms also tell people not to repost (without any credits, of course) and also ripped stuff. If no credits and the many different styled weren't enough hints, here is a clear: delete it! Nightfox' stuff Nightfox was a German ...artist back then. In fact, he stole parts of the work of other people and used rips. He never made clear what he got where, so just don't use anything that can be found in his thread. Spoiler Spoiler The graphics are left inside the thread so people can go and check what NOT to use. Nightfox' Ressourcen 4. VXresourceplanet A large resource Site... well, they just mostly "forget" to mention, who made the stuff what is posted there. Random things from around the web, violating the terms of different artists and nearly no credits, great. Spoiler Spoiler VXresourceplanet DO NOT USE THE THINGS FOUND THERE! Example for stolen stuff: this post and this one Original source is Vibrato, the stuff can be found in this huge Pack by him you can download on this site. There are no credits given, even though it is against his terms, translated here. 5. Some statues There are also some Terranigma statues which are mostly used in some XP-Projects Spoiler Spoiler 6. Zanyzora/Teamanti See the Terranigma statues above? Zanyzora/Teamanti posted them, just for example. This was a site with a lot of cool XP-Edits... mixed up with rips. Since the site went offline, the stuff is spread all over the web and it's nearly impossible to say where it can be found. But since Zanyzora mostly forgot to tell us about used rips, don't use anything with this name in the credits without beeing very sure that only XP-tiles were the base for that (she had some autotiles for example that can be used without any issues). @DownwardSpiral : Plus if you use it for the IGMC your game is automatically DQ'd as you violated rule 5 of the rules for that contest.

I have superimposed my own icons and I dont feel the need to scour the internet looking for each individual icon that belongs to a particular game. Frankly its a waste of time when I have other things to work on in my schedule. If there's an icon that's got a distinct style like a spell icon from Diablo, id pick that right up. But an icon that looks like it fits into the RTP and has some graphical ambiguity? I don't think so.

This thread is made for all of us, for our convenience, to avoid using ripped stuff, while you come here and suddenly say:
"Yeah I don't mind"
You are not into any trouble for this, but it doesn't make you look good either. :)

about the benben trees did he and mack make the leaves entirely by themselves? So If Used them with other trunks would that be ok for a NON RPG Maker game?

Regardless, It is been said definitely not to use.
Even though you have other engines that is NON RPG Maker, it would be unwise to do such thing.

The post is made as a warning, a reminder, for all forum members, which mostly use engines such as RPGMaker and IG Maker, why don't we use it as a practice to respect and communicate, the resource makers that we're interested in..

At least, if we're unable to contact the owner / the maker, just read their 'Terms of Use'.
They are kind enough to state that in a simple way for us, just before their resource-posts..

Hi,

The last post was posted awhile back, but I just want to thank you for making this blacklist and making people more aware of copyright issues.

Is there somewhere I can put up my game privately for people to check if it’s legal (along with my credit list)? I would hate it to be working on a game for months, put it up, only to get deleted because some idiot “royalty-free” website claimed they have the rights to an image but they actually stole it. I am being very cautious to ensure the sites I use state that they are royalty-free, but I do use a lot of external sources so it would be helpful for me.

Also one thing that is ambiguous to me is “traditional patterns”. For example if I get a pattern from a website that does not state terms of use, but the picture is 99% a traditional pattern passed down for centuries like the Japanese Seigaha, what are my terms on that?

@Avery Could you add Psychronic's Sci-Fi tiles to the list? The sets contained resources from a number of sources that weren't properly credited, as well as tiles from the Futuristic Tile pack in the store all while the user said that all edits were from free resources.

Here are some examples of the A tile sheets:

There were a few things that were bugging me about it, but I finally figured it out when looking at the Futuristic Tile pack. A lot of the tiles here are edits of tiles from that pack, resized to fit MV.

A lot of the pack's tiles that I recognized are merged together with a bunch of other tiles, which makes it easy to overlook them, but they're there.

This tile by Psychronic: was made by merging this Futuristic tile: with a tile I couldn't place and then changing the color.
This wall: uses part of this Futuristic tile: to make the pattern
(my photoshop's settings must be different than the one used by Psychronic which is why the bolts aren't exactly the same, but the pattern should be clear enough)

Since so many of the tiles are made by merging tiles together, it's not safe to use the tilesets because people just can't be positive where the originals are from.

@TheoAllen That's not the set I looked at so I can't be positive where resources in it come from, but it is by the same user so it would be safest to not use that set either.

Hey this is Psychronic (my other account). I did make these edits from what I thought were free tiles, I was mistaken. Please don't use them for this reason. But I will be making some new sets from scratch which wont have these issues. I hope my main account can be restored so I can actually let people know not to use them. Have also taken them off the website.

Sorry for any trouble this may have caused, wanting to make it right.

Considering that pokemon essentials has been C&D by Nintendo a few years ago. and yet folks keep asking for support here. Should that be added to the resource blacklist.

Update: After being contacted, they at least disabled their MV resources, but as the other maker's resources are also uncredited and stolen and rips, I would still refrain from using them.

I have barely ever seen something as hypocritical as rpg-maker.fr ...

"If a resource belongs to you without your name being mentioned, do not hesitate to contact us to let us know and we will add it quickly (remember to indicate precisely the resources concerned with their file name). Understand that for these hundreds of resources we have not been able to record everyone's names systematically, especially since everything is not always signed. "
... while ALL the resources are stolen, hundreds of files being mine.
So yeah, they just steal everything and want a neat list from you with what is yours because taking care was too much work in first place.
I sent them a mail with pointing out some of them, but collecting only the credits for only most of the tileset section took an hour. And these resources were always signed where they were posted. I am really, really pissed and wish I would be allowed to call these people there by the names they deserve.
So feel free to go through the sections and report what you can, especially the stuff they have to delete immiediatly. MV Resources, specifically tilesets, is done that far:

So yeah, use nothing they provide.
